  1. After 10 years post op, I use quest and one bars as a fast lunch or after work outs. I really depend on them a couple of times a week
  2. You might know what you feel is a "right" weight for you when you get there. Often, bodies seem to have set points that they are comfortable at and are more sensible to maintain. Good luck and keep posting!
  3. I've never seen a weigh in at post surgery support groups. Tears. Questions. Stories. But no scale. !!
  4. Ok. Where are the 10 year veterans???? I just don't see or hear from many. Just say hi if you are still here from years ago!!! We are all trying to be healthy and sort of doing the same thing in tandem
  5. Thanks Kathy. Still waiting on your pic from the fresher new you. Happy you did your upper. Now your lower. Wow!!
  6. Here is some years of work. 10 years and still going. Best thing I did for myself!!
  7. I happen to have 1.5 cc's in my inamed band. It is an antique (10 years old)and holds only 4 cc max. I find I have less reflux gagging when I keep the amount low. I don't like arguing with almost every meal. I still am not hungry in the a.m. But I try protein shakes. I really want to keep my band!! Good luck and please keep posting. There are so few of us banders around And please don't mistake me for someone who has this figured out!! I still try and stumble often!
  8. I like small plates and demitasse spoons. ( very small). I don't know why, but years later they still help me to eat slower and more methodically. My take is we all try to find what method helps us stay at a lower weight. Maybe not perfect. Or goal. But 90 lbs off for 10 years is my personal best, and I am thrilled with it. Size12 works for me Don't mistake this for someone who doesn't trip and fall....a lot. I just seem to be able to get up quicker and move on. Good luck and please keep posting. Us vets love to hear what works for others!!
  9. Maybe refried beans with cheese when you are cleared? Baked store bought tofu might surprise you (teriyaki for me). Greek yogurt? Fairlife extra protein milk, quest bars and one bars help me. Keep trying. You can do this and it could change your life!!
  10. I think pre diet may be one of the hardest parts. It does get better for almost all of us after surgery. Hang tough. You got this. It can change your life!
  11. You are not alone. Many others have been through this and can help. My take is the overall aim for good health trumps all! The numbers are important but how you feel is much more relevant I think your relationship with food will evolve quickly after surgery. You hopefully will not hear the sirens call for food all the time.... small amounts probably will fill you up. What small amounts you CHOOSE will make a big difference in the long run . That is the goal: the long run .... not a diet... a different lifestyle that evolves!! Best of luck. Keep posting! Us vets like to hear success stories!!
  12. Nice to see you are still around MC ! 20 lbs is not a lot compared to where we started. It is all relative. Your sensibly advice is missed. You are also a true veteran!!
  13. Still trying.... lost 5 lbs ....and having that colonoscopy helped!!! Yucky way to do it tho!!
  14. My strategy was to ALWAYS take the stairs. I paid a little extra for the fine dining restaurants. Walked the decks. Took a class. Shore excursions Room service. Lots of options besides carb loaded buffets. Bon voyage
  15. Sometimes lying on my left side with a heating pad provides me with relief Keep posting and good luck on your journey ahead
  16. Mostly, I believe we figure out what our body tolerates the easiest. ( and is healthy). For whatever reason, I'm stuck on my home made split pea soup. Enough fiber and small bits of ham for protein.carrots for vege in there too I still eat fairly slow. And chew a lot. My protein bests: Fairlife milk. Yogurt BAKED tofu,. (Big difference) some nuts. Protein bars. Sometimes protein drinksSometimes eggs/ occasionally rejected ? String cheese Chicken thighs braised, fish After 10 years of experimenting, that is my go to list. Hope you find your list. It helps!
  17. Lots of noise and gurgling also accompany my meals. Many. Not all. It is a bit disconcerting.... sometimes if I am burping a lot I know that the food may not agree with me. I can lie down with a heating pad on my left side and often that is enough to comfort my stomach. Sometimes the same food on the next day reacts??? I just go with it after all these years. Not much choice
  18. Everyone is so different with weigh ins. I did not for a few years except at the dr Now, after 10 years I do try for every Friday morning... but if I forget, I wait another week. It doesn't change too much.... and if I go over my limit I am right on it.... Still. I'm human and we all fall down sometimes, right? It is the getting up that helps me....and checking in with others here !!
  19. My take is health first .... then they make many remedies for other skin issues. I'm thankful I did it 10 years ago. It changed my life Best of luck on a long healthy life!!
  20. Thank you Liz. Some weeks and months are better than others. I get asked out occasionally. All kinds... from an ex mayor/ Atty. To the bag boy at Safeway who I think cuts his own hair and was trying to give me 1/2 off on a sandwich Sigh... no one compares to my wonderful late husband ... maybe someday
  21. I weigh once a week. After all these years and staying in a " range" I'm ok with, I can't be moody up and down according to that days weight. Just for me, I'm ok once a week and work from there. Some months are great. Some not. Still I try
  22. Or. This is my take ; Put that scale away til Friday (any day you choose)am for a week or two and see if that helps your head. This is a long term project. Breathe. Drink water and eat protein and do the best you can to move. Best to you
  23. I still want to be alone, 3 years after being widowed. Is that normal behavior? My weight is normal. Maybe my attitude isn't Would anyone understand about eating restrictions? Seems complicated and I want smooth. Sigh
  24. I'm so sorry for your diagnosis. Hope you will do well with treatment. I enjoy your posts as you are always so positive .
  25. I like to press my tongue to the roof of my mouth to smile and try to really open my eyes. Not squint smile. And have the camera above you. Just me
