Just Finished Initial Lap Band Assessment; Still Have Questions
I have not been banded yet, but I can offer some advice on the skinny hubby aspect...LOL. My hubby is perfectly normal weight, eats what he wants, manual labor all day and doesn't gain an ounce. Annoying, I agree. The new outlook we have taken is, with the amount I will be able to eat, I will probably be able to prepare one serving of a certain food, and all I have to do is mooch a few bites off of him! I'm excited to eat less, and weigh less than him, for the first time in probably 6 years! My nutritionist did tell me I would be eating roughly 3-6 meals, depending on size and hunger. She didn't really tell me, here is the number of meals I want you to eat, but rather, listen to my body, and learn to realize hunger and fullness. I think that is the secret. She told me hunger=that growling feeling in your stomach. Chances are, if your stomach isn't growling, you're not really hungry. And you're only supposed to eat enough to satisfy the hunger, ie, stop the growling. Of course, if we could all eat this way, we wouldn't be here, but the band is the tool that will allow us to think that way.

Failed My Sleep Study!!!!
Im not sure, how do you get by with such a small amount of sleep??? I would be dead! I love to sleep, which is why I don't understand why I couldn't sleep at the study. Like I said, I checked with the sleep center and i am allowed to take a sleep aid, so i will be doing so! I already did a trial run by taking two tylenol pm and within 30 mins, I was barely able to keep my eyes open! I feel better about going to my study now, but I hope I don't end up with apnea, because then I have to go back AGAIN!!!

Failed My Sleep Study!!!!
I honestly can sleep just ablout anywhere. I thought i would have no problem with the study. However, I usually go to bed at around 12:30. The night of the study, i was hooked up, and lights were out by about 10:30. I had no time after being hooked up to relax. I tried going to sleep, and started getting worried. What if i cant aleep, I'm gonna fail, I am going to have to do this again, I hate this, singing songs in my head, saying prayers, saying the alphabet, counting up to 60, backwards from 60....worst night ever. When I talked to the sleep center today, I had to make two more appts...one for the next sleep study, and one if needed, if I end up with a sleep apnea diagnosis. Looks like they wont do it all in one shot :-/

Failed My Sleep Study!!!!
THEN, if I have sleep apnea, I have to go back AGAIN for another study with a mask. I have gone through so much testing, poking, and prodding, but I have seriously considered calling off the whole thing, this is how much I HATED the sleep study. I was so happy it was over! Waaaaah

Failed My Sleep Study!!!!
The Dr office called to inform me that my worst nightmare has come true...i have to redo my sleep study!!!! It was the worst experience I have had in a long time. I laid there, kept my eyes closed and tried to sleep...for hours. I think I got 2hrs at the most. I'm so dreading this, but was told my doctor doesnt operate without a diagnosis either way, apnea or no apnea...I am able to take some tylenol pm, I hope I can sleep this time.

At My Sleep Study As We Speak!
The guy doing the study is really nice, and had me watch and informational video, and try on a cpap mask, although he told me I won't be wearing one, becauae he knows that anyone that comes in because they're getting wls, its basically just a formality, and something I have to do just because. I just wanna get it over with! I'm not hooked up with any electrodes yet, just chilling watching tv YES I am one of those people who bring their own pillow and blanket...lol.

It sounds like you are doing a really good job at managing your weight now! Just because your family is overweight, you are not destined the same fate...after all, my whole family is skinny, and I'm not!

No required liquid diet, should i do it anyway?
Thanks MrsRobinson!!!! And THANK YOU for all your wonderful suggestions for liquid diet, I think I will do the preop diet at least a week ahead, if nothing else it will get me into the mind set for eating less! My final consult is on the 20th of Dec, so with Christmas and new years, I doubt ill be banded this year, but in January, ill be making a resolution I can actually keep!

Seeking some info about Lap Band.
Hi, Do you know what your bmi is? Most insurance companies and most surgeons probably will not consider you if your bmi is low.

Just had my stress test, not what i expected...
So, I was scheduled by my Dr office for all my appts, one of which was a stress test this morning at 10. I didn't know what to expect but the letter from my Dr office said I should wear loose, comfy clothing. So I figured the treadmill was in my future. Wrong. The hospital staff even had to call my Dr office to clarify, because there was not a chance that I was going there to do the wrong test. No way. Turns out, all I had to do what an ultra sound of my heart...so for those that have a "stress test" coming up, it may be a good idea to find out just what that entails! As a matter of fact, I do not believe what I had today could even be classified as a stress test, I have no idea... Did anyone here actually do the treadmill?

No required liquid diet, should i do it anyway?
Thanks everyone for your replies, I am definitely going to try to change my habits somewhat in preparation for the liquids...if I were to wake up from surgery and be told they were unable to place the band, I'd have a fit!
