thank you so much for the response. we wait and wait for our date and then one day we wake up and say, wait i'm not ready lol. i have to go over the paperwork in my binder. i have been printing things out that i find on this forum and other sites, but i need to go back to the paperwork that i got from the surgeon and make my shopping list. thanks again and thank you for the friend request

i have two weeks to go before i start my liquid diet for two weeks. i have one more dietician appointment next tuesday and i have a list of what i should be eating, but i feel like i better sit down and think about what i will need to buy to get me through the two week liquid diet and the 2 - 4 weeks post surgery, because i know i will not be able to go right out after surgery and shop. so besides sugar free jello; broth; sugar free apple sauce and ice pops; sugar free pudding; skim milk, plenty of high Protein liquid meal supplements and my multi Vitamins, Calcium supplements and gas x, what else will i need to get me through the two week pre surgery diet and two - four week post surgery liquid diet. it is a bit overwhelming. i didn't go through my primary care doctor, i called my local hospital and signed up for a seminar on weight loss surgery. that was august 10th and now i am 29 days away from surgery. depending on your insurance, you may not need anything from the primary. i have federal blue cross blue shield and they wanted a letter of support and i then went to my primary and she was on board, but my friend was banded last year and she spoke to her gyno about weight loss and he gave her the letter of support. so wait to see if you insurance requires it, all insurances are different. some want a six month doctor supervised diet, after the seminar, you will meet with the surgeon and they will know what your insurance requires. good luck in this journey, congratuations on making this decision. it is never too late, i am 41 and at the seminar there were people in their 60's and 70's. keep in touch.

that is a good sign that your meds have you on the right track. even though i received clearance from the psycologist, she said that my insurance covered as many sessions as we felt necessary, but we only needed one. maybe if you wanted, you could re-visit him afterwards to talk about the depression history more fully. my daughter laughed and said that i must have cheated on the test and to be honest i did. i told her everything she wanted to hear. perfect childhood, parents got along, love myself. but i got the feeling she really just wanted to make sure that i had a good support system. it is hard to open up to a complete stranger in a half hour session. good luck. when is your surgery? mine is december 1st. liquid diet starting in 2 weeks

keep on top of that because the lady in the insurance dept of the bariatric surgeon says that blue cross blue shield federal wants the third dietician appointment when most other insurances only want two and they have to be 30 days apart and if you skipped one, you had to start over again with the 1st one. i also had to get a letter of support from the primary care and a 7 year weight history. but i live in new jersey not sure if that changes things. good luck friend.

i had an upper endoscopy with my gastroenterologist but no sleep study, the pulmonologist gave me clearance without it, he said that my airway was not narrow and i did not have thick neck and no snoring issues, so he felt that i was not a candidate for sleep apnea. i think i will need a chest xray and blood work the week before the surgery though

hi Alishaba; i have federal blue cross blue shield also. i am so glad to find someone that has the same insurance as me. when was your 3rd dietician appointment, i am wondering how long it took from that date to get approval. my 3rd appointment is November 8th and my surgery date is december 1st so i hope that is enough time to get approval and keep my date. congratulations to you. hope you find out your date soon.

i noticed that my surgeon did not mention anything about his fill schedule. will he put any in during the surgery, when will you get your first fill and what size lap band will you have. it seems like alot of people know what size (how many cc's). maybe you will find that out after the surgery, but i guess it would be good to know as much before as possible. good luck.

steve that is funny, getting on the floor has always been manageable, but the getting up part is the messy one. how about looking at the scale and not having to bend over to see the number and actually liking the number.

she's probably more excited today but tomorrow it will probably hit her and she will be alittle nervous of the procedure. wish her the best of luck.

could you imagine how scared we would be if we didn't have the Lap Band Talk to guide us through the million questions we have? or this support system that you couldn't possibly get from a meeting once a month at the bariatric center. what a blessing each and everyone of you that open up on this forum. thank you for opening up to us. if you can't be totally honest on this forum, why be here? we shouldn't sugar coat things. life is not perfect and neither are we. did you mention that during your appointment for clearance with the therapist? insurance would cover that. take advantage of this opportunity. good luck. admitting the problem is half the battle.

being able to buy leather boots and not ask "excuse me, do you have these in WIDE CALF" being able to rock sexy lingerie being able to wear a thong and not have i lost in the folds being able to say "I finally got this weight issue under control" and the most important thing to me is go to a doctor with symptom and NOT have it blamed on being overweight. every ailment i have ever had was always blamed on the fact that i was overweight. Thanks Skinnyminime for this. great idea. keep it going. and be able to sit in any chair i want without having to look at it for a few minutes to see if i can fit my ass in it. skinny people just don't realize what we go through in life. we have been a slave to this fat for so long. here's to 2012, it is going to be the start of something beautiful.

dont feel that way, plenty more holidays to come. we didn't get to this point from one holiday splurge. hopefully another 100 years of holidays. : ) I think we are always on the defensive when it comes to our diets. don't be. make a list and weigh (no pun intended) your options. pros and cons. good luck.

me too. i work monday through friday 9-5 so i keep in open on my computer. as I am pre-surgery, i enjoy reading and knowing what i should expect after surgery from current bandsters. it is a great resource.

something to consider is that during the holiday week surgeons and staff may not be in for any follow up problems. infection is a risk and what would happen if they are on vacation the week after xmas or Hanukah (spelling?) check with their schedule for the week of and after your surgery to make sure they are there. maybe waiting until after the holiday would be better. some people get alittle depressed after surgery and you may not want to feel depressed for xmas and new years. just something to think about. i was honest with my bosses. i told them in august that i am having this done and it would only work with their support. i told all my coworkers but told them that it stays between all of us. i have to miss my xmas party because of the surgery and i have to be on a liquid diet for thanksgiving, so think about confiding in your boss and ask him to keep it quiet but ask him for his support. good luck in whatever you chose.

yay no more $45 plain colored t-shirts. ever notice how expensive the clothes are in plus size. my friends come back from lunch break with $4 dresses from kohls or tj max. never in plus size have i ever found anything $4 at a dress shop. good for you. can't wait to feel what you are feeling.
