    3 Days Post-Op!

good luck to you; i am 7 months post band and i love to read these stories so i always remember what the beginning was like and how hard i worked to get to where i am today. sounds like you r healing well and on the right track. good luck on your journey. if you need any advice or have any questions, maybe my 7 months experience can offer you some support. good luck Roseann from New Jersey; as hard as it is to cough, it is so important. i would take a few deep breathes, put a pillow on my stomach and get that cough out even though it hurt.

First Timer Here! 3 Weeks Since Surgery...

welcome and congrats. i was banded on december 1st and when i went to my first week follow up i had lost 25 pounds. but the next two weeks i lost nothing and at my third week follow up the dr said that 500 calories was not enough and increase to 800. when i increased to 800 last week, i lost the 2 pounds. may want to think about adding to the daily menu. good luck and keep up the good work
  9. i was just looking into my benefits book for Federal Blue Cross Blue Shield BASIC option. it seems that i will have a $150 per night fee for the hospital (one night) and a $150 per doctor (I think there will be 2 surgeons). just wondering if anyone else has this insurance. thinking about what other costs i will incur for the surgery. i already paid all my co-pays for all the specialists to get approved for the surgery. wondering if there will be an anethesia (spelling) cost or co-pay. just want to prepare my husband before all the bills come rolling in. thank you.

are unflavored protein shakes really unflavored? just wondering because i have a few recipes that call for adding unflavored protein shakes to foods to add extra protein. be honest. does it have a flavor at all?

  16. the gas pain in the shoulder left after one use of the heating pad but the ones in my stomach are here with a mission. i am day three post op and my stomach is making those rumbling gas noises. i am using the gas x and drinking as much water as i can, but it is hard to drink the water and the protein shakes. i am walking as much as possible also. i think just time will be the answer. good luck to you.

  18. Hi jess, this is roseann from December 2011 facebook. nice to be going through this with you.

  19. hi fellow december 2011 bandster. i am Roseann from facebook.

  20. The only bad thing about my December 1st Lap Band Surgery date is that i have to do a two week pre surgery liquid diet and that means i am not enjoying Thanksgiving this year. I am italian and food is our thing especially during the holidays, but even though the closest i will be to a turkey is to be drinking my turkey broth, I WILL be celebrating the holiday. this year I am thankful for the courage i found to start this journey. I am thankful that i have a job and have insurance to pay for this (minus some copays along the way). and thankful for my husband and children for their love and support and most of all THANKFUL for this forum and the many friends I have made in the short time I have been on this forum. I keep this forum open on my computer all day while i am at work, and i have the opportunity to check it ever now and then (when the boss isn't looking lol). so here is to the December bandsters. Good luck to you all and feel free to send me a friend request. we can share our journey together.
  21. wow, the time went fast. best of luck on your surgery and keep us posted.
  22. i love your new picture. so precious

    Someone tagged me on facebook

we are our worst critics. sometimes the picture we mentally see isn't the actual perception of the picture. does that make sense? i am trying to say that they say TV adds ten pounds, i think so do we when we see a picture of ourselves. love yourself a little more each day and as the pounds go away, hopefully you will like the person you see in the mirror as well as in the photo. even though you may not like the picture, compare it to one 50 pounds ago and take notice of the parts that look thinner. don't be so hard on yourself. congratulations on the weight you lost and keep up the good work. you are doing amazing.
