Budget
Yep, groceries are sky high and the healthier foods do cost more. That said, maybe you can just modify some of the meals you have been cooking. Like using ground turkey instead of hamburger meat. I see you were recently banded and in a few months, you won't be able to eat as much as you could in the past. There will probably be a few foods you can no longer eat. Plus, teaching kids to eat healthy is priceless, right?

Sugar Free Cake
Eat cake:) is what I say!!! Recently I told my nutritionist (after losing 8.5 lbs in 6 weeks) that I ate cake the day before. She said "you're not supposed to tell me that". I said "but, it was my birthday". She said "oooookay". Every now and then is okay, every day is what got me so overweight!

Ready To Give Up
I use to say I need a band around my brain, ha. It took a while and some tough self talk to get over the hump of my life changes. I thought, really Jackie, are you going to spend all that money, go to the extreme of having surgery and not push through the barriers? Really? I was banded September 29, 2012. It took a while to feel restriction. I could eat anything I wanted. What worked for me is doing what the nutritionist said. Protein.....I drink Syntrax nectar. 32g per serving. (Amazon) Water...every chance I get. Less food....I mean, I'm full (never got full before the band) exercise....I hate it, but, I work out 30 minutes almost every day. Hang in there, you CAN do this....really, you can.

Slow Loss Blues
I was banded September 29, 2011. I have been calling myself the turtle of lapband because I was only losing a pound or two each month. Now that my band is half full I am losing right at two pounds a week:) Happy Happy Joy Joy!! Sometimes I fall off the wagon and eat too much junk...just had a birthday, cake at work, cake at home, cupcakes from friends and then my son's birthday was two days later, cheese cake.....now...Mother's Day..... But for the most part, I drink a lot of Protein drinks, exercise almost every day, take my Vitamin and drink my Water. I love my band:) I have lost more weight with the band than any other diet program, and I've done them all! It has changed me for life!

Psycholgical Support After Banding
I would like to find a support group. The mental side of lap band is huge for me. I am a food addict. I still overeat and cannot wrap my head around the fact that I am full at times. I call myself the turtle of lap band. I'm losing weight, very slowly. I exercise and take my Vitamins, and eat healthy food. I think I need brain band surgery, ha. Guess until then I will just keep working on myself.

So Happy...so Sad...
I believe the bmi has been lowered. If you have gerd, that should show medical cause. Call your insurance company, find out who reviews if you file an appeal. Write a letter, let them know that you have followed their policy and qualify. State it like "I plan to have the surgery since I have met your policy". I printed out my insurance company's policy, highlighted the criteria and sent it to them

Severe Pain In Neck And Shoulders
It should get better with time. My doctor said its referred pain. Nerves above your stomach run to your shoulder. Many people experience shoulder pain, especially if you had a hernia. I still have referred pain if I eat too fast or if I don't chew my food well enough. No fun, but, it will get better and managable.

Does This Really Work
I love my band. My loss has been slow, 20lbs over four months. I feel great and am excited about the future. The band is a TOOL, you must remember that. It is not the answer. But, it works. I would do it again in a heartbeat. Best of luck to you!

Scheduled For Feb 3Rd!
So excited for you! I was banded September 29th and I remember all those crazy feelings right before. The day I had my surgery, I began my journey to better health. My advice is to relax as much as you can. Stock up on Protein drinks, clear broth and popsicles. Maybe begin a LapBand journal. Remember that the band is a tool, not a miracle cure. But, it is the best thing that has happened to me concerning my health. I've only lost about twenty pounds, but, I feel great. Plus, my latest bloodwork is "outstanding" according to my doctor. Best of luck!

Gaining And Losing The Same Three Pounds, Argh!
Thanks for the advice. I'm going to begin a food journal again. It does help to see it on paper. I try to stay on a high Protein plan, but, have had some baked chips and graham crackers. Tuesday has been pizza night at my home for years. I was hoping to eat just one slice, but, it turns out I can eat three. That brings me to restriction of my band. I have a 10cc band and its half way full at 5ccs. Next week is fill number three. Here is the plan: 2 liters of Water, 64 grams of protein, exercise, believe

Gaining And Losing The Same Three Pounds, Argh!
What in the heck is going on....okay, I know what is going on. I have been eating the wrong things. I do good, I do bad, I am having such a hard time finding consistancy in my eating. I'm exercising 4 or 5 times a week. I keep falling off the wagon. Maybe because I can still pretty much eat anything. I've eliminated all white flour and sugar as well as sodas. One day I weigh 188, the next day I weigh 191. This has been going on a while. I blamed the holidays. But, that over. I don't want this to be a "poor me" post, but, jeeze.....how do I find consistancy? Do I need to began a food journal? Do I need to go back to the basics? I need help, but, I'm not sure what help I need. Maybe I need accountability. I have none. No husband, no one telling me I need to get with the plan. I know this, argh.... Maybe some of you can speak to me with the voice of experience. I would truly appreciate it. Jackie O.
