  1. This is normal. You wont prolong or gain weight with regular foods. I found i actually had much more energy once i started regular foods, and the weight started dropping off again.
  2. You wont be disappointed with dr. Kelly... Congratulations!
  3. Is the florence hospital the "oasis of hope". If so, thats where i also had my surgery. It was nice enough, and the nurses were nice too. There was a cleaning person that came in a few times a day..... Rumor has it that if you're a low bmi'er you won't be having surgery there. There was myself, sirensiren and at least 2 other gals that had issues back in November at the hospital because we were low bmi'ers. Dr Kelly wasn't the one with the issue, it was other doctors there.
  4. Great job! It'a great to hear some "good news" stories!
  5. Go to settings, signature, then copy and post your url.... but make sure it is the url for message boards. There are 2 url addresses on ticker factory, I think it is the top url you will need to copy and paste..... hope this helps!
  6. Anderson I'm not sure what the point of your topic was....you are obviously peeved at someone. Take your own advice to us and be considerate to others. Geesh....
  7. julie, is your back pain associated to the gall stones? just wondering cuz i've been having symptoms of the pain under the ribs after eating and some back aches too..... gallstones run in the family, so im not surprised i have them, but i couldn't figure out why my back is so achy.
  8. I bought a bunch of baby food and its still in the pantry. I was only able to eat the banana and apple sauce. and i only had a couple teaspoons of each. My advice is to skip the baby food....yuck. I survived off of cottage cheese, apple sauce, protein pudding, and ricotta bake.
  9. wishing you a speedy recovery peacequeen! Keep us updated on your progress and how you're feeling. ((HUGS))
  10. i agree about the co-ordinators...there's some sort of "war" going on between them all. There's been alot of posts about their bickering and bad mouthing each other on here and other forums. I had Dr.Kelly and he was great. But when I was researching it was between Dr Pompa, Dr Alvarez, and Dr Kelly. Who is your co-ordinator working for?
  11. If you're not completely comfortable with Mexico then why would you go? I researched the surgery and surgeons for over a year. There's alot of other options out there. If price is your concern, then check out other countries that will perform the surgery. Or, go through a financing company to self pay in the States or Canada. I agree with strongarm. $5300 was THE best money I have ever ever spent. I love my sleeve, but I refuse to tell anyone else to go and do it. Especially if they are not comfortable with ANY aspect of the surgery. Good Luck in your decision!
  12. Btw. Search the forums for acid/heartburn issues. YOU ARE NOT ALONE! IT GETS BETTER! Trust me. I was you, a few weeks ago too. I started by taking Zantac (OTC) which helped tremendously...but not enough. Doc put me on nexium, and it was a rough first few days, but now I feel like a new person. Get lots of rest, and if you are having troubles getting your water in, go back to Popsicles, etc. keep us updated on how you're doing. (((hugs)))
  13. I take my meds first thing in th am on an empty stomach. Have a shower, read the paper, etc... Then have a tea and try some crackers or something really easy on the stomach. If you can handle the crackers, try some soft cheese with them later like cream cheese. I like ritz crackers, rather than the saltines, but whatever is easiest on your tummy.
  14. i've heard good things about dr. garcia.... theres another thread on here that has a good review about him. i agree, it was very cool to have the nurses come lickety split when i rang the little buzzer. And they were all so nice.
  15. i didnt go to dr garcia, but i can tell you that there are a few channels on tv that are english. and some of the other channels had sub titles in english. Going into Mexico was a breeze. As a matter of fact we just drove through, no stopping, no border guards nothing. I didnt even know we crossed the border until the driver told me! On the way back to the states was a whole different story. 2 1/2 hrs waiting in line to cross the border. At least there was lots to look at...tons of vendors selling their wares and food. Bring a newspaper or something to read.
  16. I hope that doesn't offend you.... I just have a crazy aversion to Clowns... lol.......Clownaphobia!
  17. Sorry I had to reply....you're profile picture creeps me out! LOL! Good luck with your surgery!
  18. I'm not a doctor, but It kind of sounds like acid reflux....I had what felt like a ball stuck in my esophagus for the first couple of weeks until I started taking a PPI. It happened everytime I drank something that wasn't the right temp. or drank to fast. It's not the slimes. The slimes are like when you are about to throw up and you have to keep spitting and spitting. It's really gross. If you're lucky you won't get them.
  19. i take zantac right now. it's otc and works really well the dr prescribed me nexium 40's, but they give me very bad headaches so i'm going to stick to zantac. never had heartburn like this before either.
  20. When I was on ideal Protein, that was one of the"go to" Snacks. It was a freebie. I could eat as many as I wanted. Most veggies were freebies and that included pickles. Sort of like on WW with most veggies being zero points.... Enjoy your pickles! I think I'm gonna go buy some today. Thanks for the idea! My food choices feel very blah at the moment.
  21. This is a great thread! I remember the first couple of days after surgery in pain, vomiting, shaky, weak, etc and thinking "they all lied to me! Those people on the forum are fakes! This is terrible!". Lol....I thought I was done for and that I had mutilated myself. Now just a month later I think this is the best thing I ever did for myself. The hardest part is the beginning, but you get through it. It totally sucks, no doubt about that. In 6 months from now all of us newbies will be rockin our sleeves. It will get better and it sounds like things are already turning around for you!
  22. If you have too much calcium ie tums, you can develop kidney stones... One a day should be fine. I'm on nexium once a day, but only for one month. My doctor told me most patients suffer from acid reflux for the first few months, but it usually tapers off once your new stomach heals.
