1. I also went through Christi and Dr. Kelly was my surgeon.
2. Good Luck Brittany...you'll be in good hands. I had my surgery on November 3rd... recovery has been a bit harder for me than the other gals down here. Dr. Kelly and staff have been really good, and I have no complaints! Keep us posted on your progess!
3. thanks for posting princess! please keep us updated with your progress!
4. I'm going alone too. It's fairly common to go on your own from most of the posts I've read. They have the drivers, and co-ordinators that will look after you. You should only be there for about 4 days so that's not so bad.
5. Going to Dr Ramos Kelly next week....I'm really hoping that I'll have some time to go shopping, as long as my recovery goes ok. Is there anywhere close to the Lucerne hotel that is safe to go? I'd also like to go to a pharmacy and I'm wondering if theres a pharamacy close to hotel too. Any tips on where to go and where to avoid?
6. I'm wondering what I should use post op, Tylenol or Advil?
7. No, I just have to do a 3 day pre-op of clear fluids. Feeling great and ready to go!
8. I'm November 3rd too! But I'm with Dr. Kelly.... we'll have to keep in touch to see how we're doing after the BIG day!
9. Congrats Angi! Exciting! There's tons to know.... LOL. Surf the forum here, theres info on everything you will need before and after surgery. I also check out a few of the other forums on the web as well. Where are you going and who is your surgeon?
10. Hey BrittanyMy husband is also skeptical and does not like the thought of the VSG since it's permanent. Get on You tube and show him some of the videos on there. There's some people that have done video journals of their VSG journey. A really good one is gastricsleevereview... I think that's the name of the gal that posted her videos. Anyway, I'm sure you've probably watched them too, but try not to stress about it, because the more you stress, the more he'll stress about it. I've actually quit bringing it up with my husband, because I think it was more me that was stressing than him. Hope to see you there in a few weeks!
11. I have a low bmi of 31. I'm going in for VSG on November 3rd with Dr. Kelly in Mexico. Do your research and do what you feel is best. I'm very short, and have gained and lost the same 50 pounds with every diet out there. I researched it for a year and all the surgeons out there. Only you will know if the surgery is right for you. Good luck!
12. Everything is all lined up now, but the waiting is killing me! I've been researching this for over a year and can't wait!! I've been going through the forums and making sure that I have everything that I need....
13. LOL... I ALSO have TONS of Ideal Protein shakes and soups left over. I'll be using them after the surgery. Now I just have to figure out what to do with the two boxes of "smart cookies" I have in my pantry!
14. Got the "official" date! Plane tickets booked, and hotel for the first night down there. I don't think I want to spend 3 nights in the hospital....even though it's free. Excited, nervous, and a little bit scared.....but I've been waiting for what feels like forever to get up the nerve to book the surgery. CAN'T WAIT!!!
15. I'll be there at the same time! November 3rd for me! See you there
16. I also forgot to type that I can't wait to not suck in my tummy ALL the time! It's something I do constantly and don't even realize I do it.
17.

Yep....this is totally me! I hate running into people from my past that knew me "back in the day". I also have no photos of me and my kids. The ones I do have, I would never ever post on facebook. I also can't wait to wear jeans and and have no rolls that hang over the side.... I can't wait to not wear spanx under my clothes..... I can't wait to wear a bikini.... (I have never ever worn one!) I can't wait to wear a tight fitting shirt with no rolls popping out everywhere... And last but not least, I can't wait to shop at Lu Lu Lemon and all the other "cool" stores that have teeny tiny clothes
18. The ideal protein shakes work well, and don't taste to bad. Good luck! **EDIT** OOPS....I see your appt. was on the 16th...hope it went well....
19. Strange is right..... Did you notify your co-ordinator?
20. Thanks for the reassurances guys! Such a silly thing to worry about (turkey dinners, etc ) But I'm glad to hear that I won't have to drink protein shakes forever! Good Luck Lob1999 on your decision! Just know that you're not the only one with these feelings of "OMG what am I doing?" and being in the mental trap....
21. I'm also a lightwieght at a BMI of 30. I'm undecided yet on Dr. KELLY or Dr. POMPA. I've heard good reviews on both. The only thing that is I can't decide on is the price. Dr. Pompa is roughly $3500 more than Dr. Kelly. When I first started researching WLS, I would have been able to book on my own through LIMARP, but now they go through a co-ordinator here in Canada and the price is jacked way up.... Please update on how your surgery goes with Dr. Kelly. Sorry I can't answer any of your questions, but I saw you were a "lightweight" like me... Good Luck!
22. I have been feeling exactly the same way. I'm going with the sleeve, and I backed out last year, because of this same thing... As of right now (i'm self pay) I've been approved, have my financing, and am all set to go. I just have to let my co-ordinator know the dates I'm available. But like you, I'm worried about all the unknowns. I read about everyone that has had the sleeve and how wonderful it is, and how great it is to be thin, but at the same time, I read that everyone has to live off of protein shakes, and basically "diet" for the rest of their lives. Is this how it is going to be after the surgery? I don't want to completely give up food forever.... I know it sounds silly, but to be honest, I think about Christmas times, and Thanksgivings with the turkey, etc and family. I don't want to spend it drinking a shake while the rest of the family enjoys a hot meal. It is frivolous, i know that. But that's what I think about, and all the things I will miss out on after the sleeve.
