  1. Enjoy the holidays! I know they are hectic but the memories made as we rush around are so precious! I wish either of my grandmothers has made Christmas cookies with us! Congrats on your weight loss! And you're hair will grow back My tip is to stimulate your scalp a few times a day to increase blood flow. GL!
  2. The weight starts coming off pretty quickly! Remember to sip sip sip sip and... you guessed it- sip some more. No need to be anxious, it'll happen all on it's own at this stage.
  3. Way to go! I can't wait for my first egg!
  4. I'm on day 11 and for me the turn around day was really day 6. I felt so much better. I took a shower and put makeup on! I even cleaned a little.. very little. But it felt good to not be in pain with every move I made. It does get better. Fluids are my biggest struggle right now. And now slowly reintroducing soft foods. I had no idea how consuming this process would be, but I wouldn't go back for anything!
  5. Never in a million years did I expect the reaction I got! No one really knew I was coming in today, I just went in to work a few hours this afternoon to get my feet wet for Monday. I walked through the doors and half the office came running! It was a reaction I never ever would have expected. Immediately the girls who knew what my surgery was for started commenting on how they could see weight loss in my face.... And then when I took my coat off I got even more comments! Really?!?!? Seriously!?!?!? I was so happy! I feel like I worried over a whole lot of nothing. One co-worker didn't know I had come in because I snunk in at lunch time and she caught me walking by her cubicle and like stuck her head out to look at me... Later she came over to my desk and told me how happy she was for me and that she could totally see in my face and my back that I had lost weight and she was happy for me. I hope these people aren't just saying these things to make me feel better! Oh hell, even if they are I love it! LoL. I was tempted to wear my brand spanking new size 18s, but opted to try and look more like a post op patient hoping for some sympathy lol. Monday I'll really wow them! Thank you all for your kind and encouraging words today. I don't know how I would have managed to leave the house without them- honestly!
  6. And I am VERY nervous! By now the whole office probably knows why I was out of the office. I tried to keep it under wraps but unfortunately when you work for such a small company and the acting office manager is a gossiping snipe- things have a way of getting out. And even if some at work don't know, when I get there today my 25 pound loss is very obvious in my face. But honestly, I don't care who does and doesn't know. Those who care about me have supported me through this and they are the only people that matter. There will be naysayers everywhere in life why should my WLS be any different? I'm only going in for a half of a day. I want to sort of ease myself back in today so Monday doesn't smack me in the face like a a trillion ton of bricks. Plus, I can't afford not to. By going into work this afternoon for a few hours it will enable me to work from home this weekend and help make up for some of the two weeks I've missed. Now that my classes have ended for the semester I really do plan to spend Saturday and Sunday cemented in work. Nothing like having a paycheck two days before Christmas that is only two days worth of pay! (I only had two sick days remaining and no vacation time.) So, wish me luck! I hope you all have a fabulous day!
  7. Congrats on your surgery! You will be feeling better in no time! I took my vicodin religiously the first 5 days. The 6th day I started with just tylenol and have been ok since then. Take them if you need them!
  8. Haha, as LilMissDiva said every milestone does deserve it's own thread. Good luck to you pcos_chick... Have you noticed any improvement in your PCOS symptoms with your weight loss?
  9. The pain passes quickly. Day 5 I woke up and realized I was sleeping on my stomach! Even more then that, I was so comfy I decided to sleep for another hour! I had a hard time too with the protein powder. I sucked it up though and got it down. It is easier to drink now then it was. Take your time and get used to your new tummy- Good luck to you!
  10. I agree. My surgeon doesn't have me taking any B12 accept for what is in my multi. Maybe if my first round of blood work comes back bad they will do something- but I'm excited to see what info there is for sleeve patients in 5-10 years.
  11. I hadn't had one in over 3 months prior to surgery because of PCOS. 4 days post op I got it and I've never been happier to have it!
  12. I had surgery 12/5. My doctor gave me a note that I can go back to work 12/19. I feel fine enough that I could go back to my desk job now, but I sort of hate the job and don't mind a few days off feeling good Take it easy and do what you need to do!
  13. The extra rest will not come from staying an extra night in the hospital! But, if you don't feel you are ready to go home make sure the doctors know that and that your insurance will cover the extra night. Don't want to end up personally billed for it!
  14. All are valid questions and going into this sort of thing I don't think there are morbid questions, I really don't. I requested that if something happened to me and my kidneys were a match that my neighbor who is waiting for a kidney gets first dibs LOL. Here are some questions I asked my surgeon; What do you use topically for closing the wound? Stitches, glue, staples? If I am unable to lose enough weight with the sleeve alone, what are my options for revision to other surgeries? Is someone allowed to stay overnight in the hospital with me? (With my surgeon I had the choice of two hospitals. One I could have someone stay with me, the other I could not.) How fast will a family member be allowed into recovery with me? What kind of pain medicine do you prescribe for patients? Rather than having to have another surgery later, is it better to just remove my gallbladder while you're already in there? (My doctor thought that it was a horrific idea. He believes that something that isn't malfunctioning shouldn't be removed. He also prescribes a pill called Actigail which does something to help your gallbladder from getting stones.) How long after surgery should I wait to resume taking my prescriptions? Which/if any prescriptions should I stop taking? I started out with all of my questions in a notebook, but forgot the notebook at home for my first visit with the surgeon. After that I transferred them all into a file in my cell phone----- because I NEVER forget that! lol My doctor was actually sort of surprised/impressed by that. Good luck to you! And don't let people make you feel bad about the questions that you have. I too asked my surgeon what happens if you nick my liver....
  15. I have an EPO with a $1000 deductible, 90% coinsurance with a $2000 out of pocket. My deductible applies to my out of pocket. Having already met my deductible prior to deciding to have surgery, my surgery should not cost me more than $1000. I have a $25/copay for my PCP and specialist copays are $50. As you can imagine, those $50 copays racked up quickly for me. I've probably paid about $500 in copays. But it is so worth it! Coinsurance- Amount insurance will pay towards medical costs. You are responsible for the remaining percentage. Out of pocket- Amount of money you pay yourself before 100% coverage kicks in
  16. You will be fine! It is totally normal to do a bit of freaking out- I sure did. Two nights before my surgery I had such a meltdown my sister had to hold me and I soaked the entire front of her shirt. A week post op- my regret is not doing it sooner as I am already seeing fantastic results. Good luck!
  17. So I've started vlogging. I shouldn't say starting as that makes it sound like I just started. I've been doing it for about three weeks now. I really enjoy doing it and have found it to be somewhat therapeutic even. I wanted to share it with you guys and encourage you all to start one if it is your thing. I watched 100s of youtube videos while preparing for surgery and I know we all get encouragement from each other and this is just one more forum to do so. Thanks! http://www.youtube.com/madamdanyell
  18. It is the one my tummy came out of. I wish it was only when I was laying down that it bothers me, but I'm just sitting doing homework and pacing around the house and it isn't really painful, it is more like reminding me it is there in an uncomfortable way. It doesn't bother me during the day.... But it sounds like that inside stitch could have something to do with it.
  19. Good evening all! So today I am 7 days post op. I'm pretty much out of pain now as long as I don't over do things. I am noticing that one of my incisions tends to hurt more at night. Did any of you experience this? Thanks!
  20. YAY!!! I'm also day 7, isn't it awesome! It is definetly a lot of work trying to get all of the fluids in. Today was my first really big outing. I'm so tired right now all I want to do is sleep but I wont let myself because I need to sip sip sip.

YAY!! So happy for you! It is so nice to see all of these things happening to other people because I never thought about how nice it will be to move the seat up in my car! I totally understand what you are saying about the cold. I had to buy an electric blanket 3 days post op- and I'm thinking about getting an electric throw for at work!
  22. I buy it off of QVC as it appears to be more bang for the buck there. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Wen! Since discovering it in August nothing else has touched my hair!!
