  1. How exciting! I wish you the best of luck. Let us all know how you're doing along the way. -Lisa
  2. Hello, Everything I've read says that after surgery I'll have to sip, sip, sip ... Will I only have to sip like that in the beginning or will that be the way I drink from then on? If I have to sip for the rest of my life I know I'll get used to it but I was just curious. Thanks, Lisa
  3. Hi Chris, I don't have anything specific that I watch. I will just put in Vertical Sleeve or VSG or something like that in the search window and see what pops up. I can't remember names or anything to share. Yes, we are a few days closer ... seems like time is FLYING by right now! WooHoo!
  4. Tiny & Mim - WELCOME!!!! You both will have to tell me/us how everything goes after your surgery so we know what to expect! Chris, how was your turkey dinner?
  5. I will for sure give you an update before you go in! I got my surgery date a week ago and somehow that week just FLEW by and now I'm only 2 weeks away! Hopefully the next 2 weeks will fly by as well (especially since I'll be on a liquid diet). You're right, this is really exciting! I just can't wait!
  6. LOL, you make me laugh, I love all of the dancing cheering smiley faces at the bottom of your post! Welcome to the October Sleevers! Your enthusiasm is contagious, I feel super excited all over again! Two more weeks and it's surgery time for me. I start my liquid diet tomorrow ... -Lisa
  7. I love the bin idea too! I'm going to use that. p.s. my surgery is October 11th too. I think that kind of makes us Sleeve sisters! -Lisa
  8. That's awesome!!! Congratulations! I'm scheduled for 10/11 so I'm just one day behind you. You should check in on the October 2011 group, would love to have you in there! -Lisa
  9. Hello, and welcome! As far as insurance goes, your best bet is to call them ask because every plan is different even from one person to the next. My insurance co was able to tell me over the phone what was covered and what the requirements were. Also, I'm not sure anyone on here can tell you if you're a good candidate or not. It's really a decision for you and your doctors to make. Sorry, I'm not giving you the answers you're looking for but I do wish you the very best of luck! -Lisa
  10. Hi Terri, welcome! So glad to have you here! -Lisa
  11. Hello, just wanted you guys to know that we have an October 2011 thread going for all of the October sleevers. Come join us!
  12. Yes, I think I'm ready. I still need to shop for my after surgery meals but I have a list ready to go. I'm going to be making some broth and freezing it over the weekend (Chris brought up that great idea). Other than that I think I'm ready. I start my 2 week pre-op diet next week. On the one hand that cool because it's a sign that this is getting close but on the other hand I'm not looking forward to drinking shakes for 2 weeks but I'll live. I've also scheduled 2 weeks off of work, looking forward to having the time off. Mentall, I think I'm ready, I seem to go from excited to anxious to excited to anxious all day long. I really just want to get to the hospital and have this done already!!!!! LOL! How about you? Are you ready? -Lisa
  13. Hi DallasMom, I remember replying to a thread wishing you luck before your surgery. Maybe try to remember all the reason why you did this and how excited you were when you finally got your date? I haven't been sleeved yet so I really have no right to say anything but I bet that this too shall pass. Things will get better, just hang in there! -Lisa
  14. Hey New Start, how are you? Where is Portsmouth? When I was a kid I lived in Merrimack, NH ... from my memory it was a prettiest place I ever lived! I'm in California now. Your surgery is just a couple days after mine. -Lisa
  15. Hi JenniLee! Wow, your surgery is coming up quick, how cool is that! You've got a great attitude about being sleeved so close to the holidays. I love the idea of games. Hopefully I'll be able to eat a little turkey that day too. I have this huge Italian family and the word "holiday" pretty much means "feast". I actually think I'm more worried about not feeling like I'm fitting in rather than not eating all fo the food. This could be good though, I certainly won't be worried that anyone else is looking at the huge pile of food on my plate. Chris can i come over for your Turkey dinner? LOL! I think this will force me to really make each bite count. I won't be able to eat much so I'll have to choose wisely ... not a normal concept for Thanksgiving!
  16. Hello my October Sleeve Sisters! Have you thought about the timing of this and how close it is to both Thanksgiving & Christmas? Are you worried about that at all? Just curious. Hope you all have a fabulous day!
  17. Good morning! Hope you both are doing well! Chris, I'm so glad you reminded me about making Soup and freezing it I read that somewhere and completely forgot about it! I need to get on that. I think it's funny that we're both "list makers". Holiday, I like watching the youtube videos too! I even watched videos on how the surgery is done. Kind of yucky but I'm glad I watched it. I went to GNC yesterday and bought some Protein powder (I'm really not excited about Protein drinks ... need to work on my attitude a little hahaha!). I don't remember the name of it but the guy that helped me assured me that this was a good one and it was on sale and had low calories/carbs/fat and high protein. I also bought some Muscle milk light from costco because that was on my list from my surgeon. When I walked into GNC the guys comes up to me and asks if he can help me. I tell him that I'm having Bariatric surgery and ... and he goes oh you need protein right? LOL, clearly I wasn't the first one to come into the store looking for the same thing! Guess what? We're all one day closer to being sleeved! -Lisa
  18. Wow, 4 weeks post surgery and you look so different!!!! Seriously, I was excited to have the surgery before and when i see success like this I get even more excited! Thanks for sharing!
  19. Hi Holiday! I'm mostly excited but a little nervous. Right now I really just want to get in, have the surgery and be on my way! You know? Enough thinking about it, I just want it done!!! As far as preparation goes, I'm reading as much as I can on here. I like the "post op" board so I can read about what people experience right after surgery. I've also read the boards where people ask for costco or grocery store lists and everyone suggests their favorite things. I've kept a huge list so I have some sort of ideas to choose from. I also found this board where people were posting what they ate that day, I took a lot of notes from there just to get ideas of what to eat so I'm not eating the same thing every day. I also found a list of things to bring to the hospital so I'm running through that list making sure I have everything. I'm kind of a list maker. If anyone wants copies, I can share! Look forward to hearding from the rest of our October friends! -Lisa
  20. Hi Ceci, so good to have you over here! I'm Lisa, I have a tentative surgery date of 10/11. I'm super excited!
  21. Hi Terry, I'm on the books for 10/11 so I'm just one day behind you! I'm getting sooooooooo excited, hope you are too!
  22. You look great!!!! You must be so happy!
  23. I have some negatives and some positives ... I'll get the negatives out of the way first. I can't wait for the day when I stop stressing about my fat, I want to stop pulling at my shirt trying to hide the rolls and wondering if certain clothes make me look ... fatter. I can't wait for negative thoughts about my weight to NOT be the first thing I think about when I wake up, on my mind all day and the last thing I think about when I go to bed. Ok, the good stuff! I can't wait to have the energy to keep up with my brother and sister who are both very active and always doing fun things! I can't wait to feel good and I mean REALLY feel good! I look forward to feeling "successful" when I think about my health and weight. I can't wait to travel without worry and I really can't wait to see what's in store for me when I do loose the weight and have more energy!
  24. Thank you so much for sharing your story! It's so hard to find any long term data on VSG. This gives me hope for long term success. Still waiting for my surgery date but I'm working the process ... and hope to soon be working my sleeve.
  25. I had to smile. I just bought all 3 of the same things, silica, biotin and Nioxim shampoo! Like you I figure it can't HURT and even if it only helps a little then I'm ok with that. At least I feel like I'm trying. I'm not sleeved yet (hopefully in early October) but I think I'm going to start all 3 things this weekend. Good Luck!
