  4. Hi Leah, welcome to the October group! What a great 50th b-day present to yourself! I turn 40 in January and I only wish I had learned about VSG sooner!!! Good Luck on your pre-op diet, remember this will all be sooooooooooo worth it in the end! Welcome!

  7. I had my final appointment with the surgeon today. I walk into the office and talk to the office manager first and I get more info on the surgery date, I already knew it was 10/11 but he told me surgery is at 7:30am and I need to be there at 5:30 and all that other stuff. I thought I was handling it all well. I thought I had everything under control ... I guess that was where I made the mistake! After telling me about the day of surgery he brings me back and takes my blood pressure (which is always low). He didn't tell me what it was but his response was, "ummm are you feeling ok? Are you nervous or excited or something? I'm going to need you to take some deep breaths and try to calm down". HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! I was trying to appear so calm, cool and collected but I guess inside I was freaking out! After my appointment I head back to work with my new Optifast shakes that I need to start drinking. I drink part of a bottle of Water and then try to pour the vanilla powder into the bottle. It wasn't going so well so I made a funnel out of paper ... that didn't work so well either so I tried to pour it again and I'm pretty sure that half of the white powder spilled all over the carpet and my jeans. The worst part is, I CAN'T GET IT OFF THE CARPET OR MY JEANS! It honestly looks like a drug deal gone bad at my desk right now. I'm hopeful that things will get better from here!
  8. Hello and Welcome to the October group! Believe me, I know how you feel about being nervous, excited and scared all at the same time because I'm the same way.
  9. Congratulations!!!!! So glad to have you here, welcome to the October club!
  10. I love this! Congratulations!
  11. I'm so glad we have this October 2011 place for us especially since we're all kind of going through this together. I'm just a mix of emotions right now. One minute I'm SOOOOOOOO excited i can hardly stand it and then the next I feel like I need to call all my friends and relatives and tell them that I love them (just in case). This little voice in the back of my head reminds me of all the times I've read "I love my sleeve" on these boards. That is my gentle reminder that I'll be SOOOOOOOOO happy once this is all over. I just want to love my sleeve!
  12. Congratulations!!!! You must be so proud of your success, you look GREAT!!!! -Lisa
  13. YAY, we are Sleeve Twins, I'm on 10/11 too! Honestly I'm so excited I can hardly stand it. I'm sure that the few people that I've told about my surgery are getting sick of me because I feel like it's all I talk about. I'm ready, just ready to go! That is a LONG pre-op diet! I start mine on Friday. So glad to have you in the October club, it's so cool that we're all making such great changes in our lives. -Lisa
  14. This is such a great idea! I need to come up with my own list. Love it!
  15. Congratulations!!!! It is super exciting when you actually get your date isn't it! Just so you know, there is a group of us having surgery in October, look for the heading October 2011 and come join us! -Lisa
  16. Hello!!! Here is how you find us: Go to the main page and Scroll down until you see the heading: Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy (VSG) Support Groups Look for the sub heading: Monthly Support Groups Click on: 2011 Sleevers Scroll down to: October 2011 Click on October 2011 and that's us! Welcome!
  17. Oh i'm so glad it was such a success! I was thinking about Thanksgiving the other day and thinking that this year I will be forced to choose wisely since I won't be able to eat very much. It will also be nice not to feel uncomfortably full after dinner. I just wonder if I'll be able to eat my Mom's famous stuffing ... even just a tiny taste. Oh and yesterday my Nutritionist gave me a great tip, she said to take the homemade broth and pour it into ice cube trays to freeze it. That way you have little individual serving sizes for after surgery. I love that! Have an awesome day!
  18. I can't wait until I experience that!
  19. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh that's such great news!!!! Thank you!
  20. It all makes perfect sense! This is a big decision and it will change your life so you should be questioning yourself and making sure you're doing the right thing. Someone once posted that when you feel like that you should write down all the reasons you wanted to do this and for you, all the reasons you've worked sooooooooo hard to get to this point. It's ok to be scared though. I'm scheduled for October and I go from being excited to anxious and everywhere in between. Hang in there, don't be so hard on yourself! Hugs, Lisa
  21. Wow, nothing like a work out buddy being in the right place at the right time!!! LOL, that was a funny story!!! Time for some new workout pants?
  22. Good Luck with everything tomorrow (the drive in and the surgery). Let us know how you're doing! -Lisa
