My Sleep Apnea Cured!
I can truly feel pain. I just got my about 2 1/2 weeks ago. Things are finally getting better. First I had to switch to a different mask. I'm doing better on the new one, but at first I had it on too tight. It's seems like every other nigt I'm still taking the mask of in the middle of the night when I'm mostly asleep. Sometimes if I wake up again, I put it back on. I had to laugh when I read you post, though. I said almost the same thing to my husband on the 2nd night I had my CPAP. After tears and a mini tantrum I told him that I was just going to stay awake all night. Then there would be no way I could have sleep apnea. - I was so exhausted the first week or so. I definately wasn't getting enough sleep. - Things are not quite where I'd like them to be yet, but it's definately much better. Good luck - I hope it gets better for you soon.

Got the CPAP
I really don't know if it's all machines or not. I would definately ask the company that gave you your CPAP.

Got the CPAP
Hi Maddie. Hope it goes well for you. I've had mine about 2 1/2 weeks. It's getting much better now, but it was really awful at first. My surgeon actually checks the information downloaded from the machine to make sure you are being compliant. So I don't have a choice. If I want to have the surgery, I have to use it. - Good luck and keep us posted.

Week 2 Update
Sounds great, Rob. Keep it up!!!

Frustrated!!!!!
If you think you could get a letter from your family doctor, you might include both with an explaination from you that you included it because you haven't been with your PCP very long. ??

Getting a lil bit discouraged....my insurance provider...
From what I've been reading, it's not totally the insurance company. (Don't get me wrong, as a rule I'm not a big fan of insurance companies.) I have UHC Choice also, and my plan covers the surgery 90% - no appeal necessary. I think it depends on the contract that your employer sets up with the Insurance Company. Our plan was set up to include the sleeve surgery. I think it all comes down to trying to keep costs down how much money the employer is willing to pay for premiums.

Just got approved by insurance and now doc says.....
I know that this won't help you with the long wait and the anticipation, but I'd rather be having surgery from a surgeon who is booked for weeks ahead than one who doesn't have many clients and can schedule me right away. I'd feel comforted by the fact that he is in demand for his services!!! Congrats on the date, though and keep us posted.

Question for sleevers who's insurance covered surgery
I haven't had my surgery yet, but I have a maximum of $2500/year out of pocket. My insurance covers 90%. I'm expecting to pay all of the $2500.

Still struggling with the CPAP machine, but every night it's getting a little easier. My panicky feeling of not being able to breath is getting better. I'm really hoping that I get used to it soon. I'm not getting enough sleep yet!!! Very tired.
