  3. The band is losing its popularity IMHO because of the aftercare work that a surgeon has to get involved with like fills and xrays etc, Once a bypass or sleeve are done people are discharged home and its almost goodbye forever with maybe a follow-up visit or 2. The odds for complications post op maybe higher for the band but the mortality rate still far outshines the sleeve and bypass. I still believe that people should take responsibility for their own health and be informed about something before doing it, particularly like the lapband, at the end of the day its me who has to live with it, I will never understand people going into this ignorant of what part they have to play. Grats Jim u are still doing great !

  5. If the fill levels work for you then your doctor is doing right by you, some people need smaller fills and a more gentle approach some manage fine with more agressive fills. I think theres a few on here that would have loved a more agressive approach, As it is working for you then be content that u are where it takes some over 6 months of fills to get to
  6. Mine was messed up too, but all ok today
  7. didnt have one .. certainly in the UK they are rarely used for a simple short op like a lapband
  8. The lump is the port
  9. Here in the UK its pretty standard to be kept overnight i went in on a friday morning and went home saturday afternoon. I was happy to stay in overnight although medically i was probably ok to have gone home earlier
  10. I would suggest having some low calorie soup before your evening meal, i do this every day and have lost all my weight eating a lot of soup, it acts as a filler and can easily halve your appetite which will help those hunger pains. Weight Watchers tomato soup is the best, 71 calories .. its the only decent flavour one to be honest, I had soup both pre-op and post op and a year and half later and 240lbs lighter i still have soup before my evening meal. It is part of a regime called volumetrics which is all about feeling full on as least calories as possible. I make my own green veg soup and have that every day for lunch too, soup has been my saviour in this band life,it doesnt work for everyone but it does work for some of us, if u are unsure ask your doctor if u can have one before your meal while u are on this pre-op .
  11. An only liquid diet doesnt slough away the crud that builds up in our mouths or take away the dead skin cells from our tongues, this coupled with the protein in shakes makes our mouths feel like the inside of a banana skin .. once u start eating normally things will improve. This is also common after any surgery, but normally we are qquicker to start eating normally than for bariatric surgery. Just keep up a good hygiene routine for your mouth .. it will get better
  12. I agree it seems a harsh response, some of us do get over anxious when we visit doctos so maybe his respnse was meant differently than how it felt to you, or maybe he is just a jerk
  13. This problem does seem to be connected with sudden reflux issues. Hopefully things will go back in place for you. Good luck .
  14. Good luck Steve, and we wish you a speedy recovery. Let us know how u are getting on ..
  15. Good to hear u had a pain free fill .. thats how fills should go
  16. A fill shouldnt really hurt, so good for you and in this country u wouldnt even be offered lidocaine, so doctors have to get used to doing pain free fills .. am glad it was a positive experience for you ..
  17. I would say anywhere between 4 and 8 would be green zone for most with a 10cc band hard to be anymore specific really
  18. Hope it all goes ok for you, 2 months isnt long now
