As if I'm not fat enough....
hopeliveshere hi there as you said, "heavy people" have a tendency to have fatty livers many/most/all surgeons will have patient on a pre-op diet to help reduce that fatty area the liquid diet will help you lose lbs some docs say you must lose 5% of your weight before WLS ie 5% of 200 lbs - you would be required to lose 10 lbs some docs don't require a pre-op diet (mine didn't) just tell you to make sure not to gain any weight try not to stress over this this is just one the many new rules you will have to follow while you are on the road to health, happiness and a longer life in SLEEVELAND good luck with WLS speedy recovery kathy

I am holding the door open as you approach the century club having support from your family et al means so much - so helpful i totally get what you mean about keeping a few pictures of the old you (many/me OP did the same) you must/should "remember where you've been, so you know where you are going" (some saying like that ) keep doin' what you are doin' its obviously working keep up the good job/work kathy congrats- Syracuse sleevers

hi "honey" i always admire someone "like you" that has a little more weight to lose, and is working hard - and being so successful!!! good for you keep up the good work 141 lbs GONE!!! OMG thats terrific i/we would love to see more of you on the board while in person - others see less and less of you continued good luck kathy congrats- Scared to Succeed
laughingheels WARNING WARNING -this reply is an example that i don't know how to make a short response to a post first off , walking might be considered an "activity" by you doc ...... but it definitely is a good excercise that many, many people do!!! i understand about being self-conscious going to the gym - maybe thinking everyone is looking at you many people/me had that fear but, really others are busy doing their workout and NOT staring at you!!!! not totally knowing how to do/adjust weights, machines i get it you might/do feel uncomfortable its not a bad idea to practice at home with a couple of DVD's, weights, stretching bands you put on the door being self-conscious is just another problem many of us, since we're overweight slowly start at the gym doing simple things you don't even have to stay long - just go for a 1/2 hour to familiarize yourself with the gymn - get more comfortable if you'd rather not go to the gym at all, park your car further away from stores et al use stairs DVD's - videos, weights et al at home these are just a couple of common suggestions/options to help you exercise is/can be important many, many, many/most people exercise but some people don't exercise much - (don't tell anyone that i said this to you ) you will/should lose the weight - but exercising is good for all but..........if you are being held back by not wanting to exercise don't let that be a factor of "possibly" failing with the sleeve eat and drink properly don't be afraid of success maybe in your case thats easier said than done just look at your weight loss for all the health benefits you will achieve becoming thinner will be and added bonus - and hopefully you should/will come out of your shell - and continue to be the wonderful person you are now just in better physical condition/and appearance congrats on losing 40 lbs take care good luck kathy- I Am So Happy!
Linkinchic its these "little" NSV's that are great you lost 12 lbs pre-op?? 20 more in the past month!!! my math says you've lost 32 lbs all together you are doing terrific!!! keep up the good job/work - while your weight goes down you are enbarking on a great new healthier, happier, longer life!!! keep up the great job/work continued luck and happiness kathy congrats- Shoe size?
Cindeez the first time i saw this question/post i laughed/snickered to myself then i realized OMG its true - your foot/shoe size can get smaller whats next that will change??!! of course, change is good as we see with our health and happiness - appearance good luck kathy- Who was a revision patient
Luv2beslim there is a whole discussion group/thread called.............. band to gastric sleeve revision you'll find many many people that changed from lapband to sleeve you'll see the answers to many of your questions and of course, if you have a question,,,,,,,,,,,,fire away 11 days before surgery................ WooHoo try and keep your emotions in check............but its normal to be nervous, scared - and VERY excited saving a spot for you on the losers' bench next to me of course!! good luck speedy recovery kathy- Biggest NSV for me so far
Bunny great NSV many times over the years, i didn't want to be recognized or noticed now - we want people to take note of our new 'hot appearence' when people don't immediately recognize the "new" you, thats ok too! when they finally realize who you are, make sure you have smelling salt around if they faint in shock congrats girlfriend on eventually being recognized keep up the good job/work kathy- How fast should I be able to drink?
mom023 congrats on being 17 days post op if memory serves me correctly, at your present/early stage - you need/should drink slowly your new tummy is healing from major surgery - be nice to it - and it will return the favor talk to your NUT/surgeon about the water/liquid question she will guide you about sipping, and eventually gulping I "think" 16 oz in an hour sounds great - as long as you drink slowly Many people on the board have problems getting liquids in at this early part of the game many OP have continue to have post op problems w/drinking Water consider yourself luck continued good luck with your recovery kathy- Bras
losingit1213 not really answering your question.................. i always try and look for the good with the bad i don't wear/or need a bra i feel free!!! and don't bounce anymore  I am a 14 year breast cancer survivor when i had reconstruction surgery i opted to be "very" small up there!!! after all those years having big girls, which can be an "uplifting" situation i wanted to go small now that i've lost my weight, my breast size matches the rest of my body works for DH and I sorry i hijacked the board for a couple of minutes now............... back to your regularly scheduled program, already in progress kathy- Should I?
moorerecr good about following initial protein/low carbs pre-op did he "officially" say after that you can't do liquids???? if he didn't say that, then tell him you want to push ahead, and maybe get a little more of a jump start, posssibly losing a couple of extra lbs prior to WLS if he did say "don't do a liquid diet" then don't silly head this is the start of your long journey for the rest of your healthier, happier, longer life we must ALWAYS follow our NUT/or surgeons advice its seriously an unwritten rule all NUTS are different - but always listen to your NUT/surgeon/nurse!!! good luck August 7 (you said July 7) you're probably so excited you didn't know what you were saying!!!!)LOL take care enjoy these next few weeks best of luck speedy recovery kathy- I hate it when I eat too much
"IF" i eat too much............ which sadly i admit i have done within a few minutes i start to get all hot "inside" and awful its terrible then i will usually lay down - will actually fall alsleep - get up 15 minutes lately and tummy will feel fine on the other hand...........i mentally feel awful since its easy for me to remember that terrible feeling, it reminds me not to do "it" anymore usually successful with that kathy- Dating question from a girl
Susan not sure i understand why any new guy you meet would ask about your dating past after just meeting you, or shortly after??? as Art saiad - you can just say you've been concentrating on work you can say you've dated here and there a bit - just haven't found that "special" person yet if the guy you meet does turn into that special guy, and you want to talk about your past histoy the words will come to you about your history - if the guy cares about you, he will only be more proud of you and amazed by your success if for some reason he (or anyone else) all of a sudden feels funny - for some reason not liking your past?? he's no one to care about IMO - i wouldn't bring up your valid "trust" issues immediately to any guy maybe after you know him longer you don't/shouldn't in my opinion "spill your guts" about your past to ANYONE your barely know a little mystery here and there is good many/most new guys will see how great you are - too bad they didn't realize that decade ago (they should have) have fun enjoy life good luck kathy- Progress Pics: Before and 1 Year Later
Nate i remember you nice to see some older "newbies" are now popping up out of the woodwork ............. with great success stories!!!!! i can only imagine that as peoples weight is higher, it must be harder to keep the faith, patience to stay dilligent, working hard with their plan i see you are doing terrific you are going strong continueing to live a healthier and happier life kathy congrats- My peak and pit for today
jensjoy28 i think your "yah" moment out WEIGHS LOL your ugh moment!!! closing your seatbelt easily, room to spare, able to put side arm rest down!!!! this is one NSV that many many can relate to as far as getting nauseous after drinking - like you said 'live and learn'?? 9 weeks and 42 lbs later.............. keep up the good job/work kathy congrats- Selfie time! 117 lbs gone forever!
117 lbs Gone libearsmom haven't seen you much around the block lately then again.... since there is so much less of you, maybe i just missed seeing your little skinny as s i see you are doing terrific good for you i always knew you could do this keep up the good work/job congrats on your successes today, tomorrow and............ kathy- Approved!

foxymomma as far as reg plastic surgery, tummy tuck et, i don't "think" most insurance companies cover but.............my daughter has/had a similar experience with her breasts little more complex, but............. one breast is VERY small , and the other was formed "differently", kindof strange looking to tell you the truth finally, last year at the age of 35 - went to doc and was told insurance would cover the plastics in her situation check it out - nothing ventured nothing gained btw - my daughter wanted another child (my 3rd grandchild ) so she didn't want her breasts "messed" around with don't know if she'll ever have the surgery now - but you are a different matter - look into it you could find this a very "uplifting" experience congrats on your weight loss no ticker, profile to show your success???? hint, hint good luck kathy- bad/sad what 2 medical people said to me!
oh, oh, more have written while i was replying - not forgetting you guys - thanx for being great too and responding kathy- bad/sad what 2 medical people said to me!
Nuchnush,BLKLYNgal87,Ms Anti-Band,JerseyGirl68,Sassygirl106,Tess,donewithdiabetes its true.............. people get be insensitive, rude, dumb, et al!!!! unbelievable they open their mouths without thinking - but.............. ignorance is NOT bliss!!! we know it is/can be a struggle at times staying "true" - but we ALL can/will be successful comments that i heard (and the unbelievable meth/alcoholic comment!!! )are crazy i/you don't need to hear such things my head is not in the sand - i know i must continue to be diligent with all my eating, portions drinking et al........... end of my "bad" comments, to the good............. luv ya all kathy- Just sayin hi!
