  4. finleyd i turned 58 one month after surgery (don't tell anyone ) not knowing/experiencing what "younguns" went through losing their weight - i can't compare situations...(young & older).... but i can say i had a great surgery, recovery and continue to be successful age "might" be a factor in the equation................knee, orthopedic problems but someone who is 23 can and does have similar problems i think i have turned into a spring chicken and am now 59 years YOUNG neither age or "size" matters good luck kathy
  5. Happiness is ... using a regular size public toilet and changing room always had to use the handi-capped ones before no more!!!! Don - if you gotta make a mistake at work....... getting your return to work date early, is the way to go from your ticker i see you are doing a great job!!!! keep up the good work/job on your week off from work - and for the rest of your healthier, happier, longer life kathy congrats
  6. Rashaun I have this "magnet" in my body i would drive by Taco Bell - and my car would immediately turn in to the drive in whether i wanted to eat the food or not - of course i always "gave" in and sacrificed myself to yummy tacos as i was losing weight - my "magnet" still drew me to the plus size area in the stores it was mentally hard to realize i didn't need to shop their it was also hard to believe to "push" myself into trying on smaller #'d clothes i always reached for the large size, then a small size always tried the larger size on first now i try the smaller size on - and usually buy that!!!! "maybe" jumping the gun alittle if you are buying clothes 3 months pre-op thats ok though maybe buy ONE special jean/certain size that you will look forward to wearing even if/when you grow out of them - you will feel great that you were successful in getting to that smaller size we alllll love clothes NSV's happy shopping good luck kathy
  7. Who has actually reached goal? I have i have - 100%!!!! jumping up and down doing raising my hand while doing the happy dance, rubbing my little tummy, and chewing SF gum at the same time the sky is the limit to what % you want to lose sure losing 60 + % is a success sometimes i think docs use that low % so they can show their (docs) % rate of patients being successful i "mark" my goal date at one year PO i was fluctuating a couple of lbs - but i was at goal now 6 months since goal - i am maintaining i might slip here or there - (most/all of do sometimes) but i am doing well - enjoying GOAL weight fluctuates about 2 lbs on occassion maintenance can be harder than losing the weight but i think we all know that we had that prob with our yo yoing before gaining the weight back i continue to say and believe - that for me - with the aide of the sleeve - i will keep my weight at goal, fluctuating here and there at times i/we have gone through "too much" - major surgery to help us lose weight - i can not go backwards now in the past i, as all others, have gone through too many "personal" issues being overweight - self-esteem, confidence et al and more importantly all the health problems associated with our weight now i'm so happy i feel like i could burst sometimes, really and.........this 59 year old grammy - is cute as a button go to my profile, check out my before and after pictures  i'm enjoying the healthier, happier, longer life that we all want i am proudly showing off my stats DOS 12/15/11 235 lbs 5'3 present 130 lbs GOAL still 5'3 you can do anything you set your mind to follow all the rules i know you and everyone else will be a great success story good luck kathy

  10. LOSINGLOOSEY I heard the above two "suggestions" from a few people also didn't tell many "normal friends/acquaintances" about the WLS sorry you are getting these "comments" don't have a snappy comeback above responses from OP are all good kathy
  11. ONEDERLAND! bigcountryab wonderful success - keep on going!!!! i find it funny about #'s over the years, while i yo yo'd - i would hover around 190, 195+ lbs it seemed like when i got that high - i would put on the brakes and my weight stabalized one day i saw the #199 I cringed!!! OMG i was horrified!! my life was "over" yet.............i continued to gain until i reached 235 lbs (5'3) THATS when i talked to my surgeon so..........whats in a #??? ALOT (even though we're not supposed to be so concerned about the #) your hard work is showing keep up the great job/work!!!! kathy congrats
  12. When did your gas get better? vegasneon OMG at $3.43 a gallon i don't think gas is ever gonna get better ok, ok - seriously now i was lucky not to experience any gas after surgery you "probably" know that you should be walking ALOT!!!! even if you are still weak - or tired...........i have heard that you should force yourself to walk any walking will help get rid of the gas hopefully you will feel better soon hope your recuperation is going well besides that issue good luck kathy
  13. If your a1c is too high? delay in WLS? karpouzian i have seen others with this concern you are right all docs are different in my case, i know my levels weren't great day of WLS but having high blood sugar/diabetes/insulin is one of the main health reasons many sleevers get WLS shortly after surgery - most peoples situations improve in my case - awhile after WLS, all my meds/insulin were gradually taken away good thoughts you won't have prob with doc - and your diabetes will also improve/go away!!!! good luck kathy
  14. yazzy happy dance - you call THAT a happy dance??? come on girlfriend - shake those hips and bootie!!! you can move more now glad you fit into those jeans unlike M2G and many others - i never kept my big clothes - wanted to get rid of them so i wouldn't be tempted to fit back into them but of course i kept them through the years, they fit on and off then i got rid of them just BEFORE WLS i wish i had kept them - but..........out with the old, in with the new (me!!) kathy congrats
  15. Jordo29 you are "pretty excited"??? ---- "pretty excited"??? OMG - I'd be "dancing on the ceiling"!!!" (with lionel ritchie of course!!! ) singing at the top of my lungs (luckily this computer doesn't have sound track!!! ) newbie, you are doing great, just what the dr ordered!!!! keep up the good work/job!!!! kathy
  16. Di Faniti to directly answer your question - how long after surgery could you eat bread???? my simple answer I don't know!!! my tummy hasn't found a food it doesn't like i never had a prob with bread i rarely have bread though, never Pasta i always have found it strange that some/many people have trouble eating this or that, i never had any trouble eating anything early PO (and even after) many many people say they can't tolerate eggs??? happily thats never been a problem for me I will enjoy an egg salad sandwich sometimes of course.............everything in moderation good luck kathy
  17. inarakatra i'm also sorry you are getting these conflicting signals from DH(?) "he doesn't think it will work - you won't lose it!!!!" if he has nothing good to say right now - oh well, you can't change that BUT - you can tell him not to be discouraging, mean, rude please don't 2nd guess yourself about having the WLS!!!! this procedure will be the best thing you have ever done for yourself, trust me many/most people on the board say that phrase i am giving him the benefit of the doubt and saying "i don't think he knows how mean he is being to you" try and explain your feelings to him PO hopefully/slowly he will come around who knows, stranger things have happened stand tall best of luck kathy
  18. people treat me different now hi BunnyK anyone - clerk et el...... that treats someone different due to weight (either way) is just showing their ignorance you/anyone doesn't need them in their life unfortuanately these people are around ..................................... OMG 75 lbs down i knew i've been seeing less of you i have envied some people on this board that actually said they were always happy, out going self-confident, work et al prior to WLS (I was never in that group) besides their weight/health problem - life was good As OP have said in their different words......... ways you are being "treated" reacted to now - could be influenced by the better waves/vibrations you are sending you have successfully lost weight, feel much better about yourself those good feelings can't help but show/radiate these feelings/thoughts/changes made me "receive" people better - cuz i felt so great - they seemed nicer to me People have said they are no different than they were pre-WLS I AM a little different i am still "cute as a button" sweet as "pie" but now i am so much happier and healthier i feel better/confident et al about myself people can't help but respond nicely to that congrats on your weight loss 25 lbs til goal??????????? right around the corner!!!! holding the door open to the century club due to your weight loss - you don't have to "squeeze" in just walk through with your head held high take care bud kathy
  19. inarakatra No I had to go to this psych ward - i mean "sleep center" spent the lllllllllllongest night of my life!!!! all hooked up like a martian - woke me up periodically, after i had dozed off for a few minutes!!! tests came back positive for sleep apnea added "plus" co-morbities enabling me to have WLS approved (worse is better?? ) being at goal i've stopped wearing my mask - but i should probably have the official test again to confirm i don't have sleep apnea good luck with your "test" luck with your WLS speedy, safe recovery too kathy
  20. Thatguy Welcome, Welcome & Welcome always great watching a newbie/guy go through this wonderful WLS!!!! You "younguns" are lucky to have this surgery when you are so young not like this old fart!!! LOL but..............better later than never you lost 110 lbs on your own - wonderful!!! take a bow i can see how smart you are by exercising and eating right prior to surgery (I always remind my DH how smart he is - after all, he married me!!! ) anyways..............36 lbs down in one week!!!! holy moly guy-----------great start you are off to a running start!!!! You are on your way to a healthier, happier, longer life!!! enjoy the ride good luck kathy BTW I've heard it said .............. people who have gone out to eat at Buffalo Wild Wings - well.... they have been shot for less
  21. hi Tex happy 3 year surgiversary!! love to see "people like you" that are at least 3 years old/young we all want your success!!!! continueing to do so great, enjoying life - couldn't be happier right???? in other words - good health and happiness after being sleeved your pictures/camera shots are a great idea!!!! love your new picture - and your before and after shots!!! unfortunately after one and a half years, i can't travel backwards and start taking pictures but.............i have actually found some shots of me over the past 10 years usually successful at running/hiding from the camera "mandatory" pictures taken with whole family over the years what a difference now!!!! new pictures/family event in October now i smile away!!!!! (can't help myself) continued good health and happiness through your longer life kathy congrats
  22. bigchange everything has to be put into perspective - i totally get it that you/or anyone else doesn't feel great about losing their hair 15 years ago - breast cancer/chemo got rid of all my hair for months BUT - hair loss was my main side effect like OP said hair will grow back never experienced vomitting i was nausious though but the other side effect of the chemo - is i am alive and well - here to tell you my story i know there are many others here that have gone through similar health "issues" if hair loss is the main "problem" in order to lose our weight and get healthy I say its worth it all bald is beautiful kathy
  23. lilmely08 being able to wrap a regular towel around you after shower - yep that's a great feeling that NSV made me so happy too!!!! i'm gonna "steal" your thread for a second since we're talking about being in the bathroom.....(towels et al).... NSV from a few weeks ago always went into large handi-capped toilet in stores/malls - large sized changing rooms too now - i use the average size "STALL" and average size changing room too!!!!! its the little things congrats to you and me too!!!!! ok guys, back to our regular scheduled program, already in progress kathy
  24. twsport congrats on starting your video blog i never thought of or would do a video blog (wouldn't want to see me on camera ) keeping track of your trip with the sleeve is great to do i NEVER kept records/measurements I regret that very much as with many things, whats done is done the next time i have this WLS i'll keep better records sounds like you are all prepared, getting psyched!!!! good luck on WLS next month kathy
