Really random question
flyme_places me/many others are/were afraid of having a leak especially in the early time period after you've been sleeved these worries/concerns/thoughts are understandable to have just having WLS (or any surgery) you might be afraid of the "what ifs" we/most hear horror stories about people getting leaks sometimes we/they might be overly concerned over a pain/ache or something and be worried that they did get a leak the symptoms/info that art gave were good, and the 1 in 100 chance that you might have a leak anything a medical person here says (or anyone else here) is informative and helpful but should not be the official FINAL word people here can help with advice - but the final word for any medical problem should come from the doc call the office - the doc should help you, and the NUT too thats what you/insurance paid them for!!!! doc will check things out if there is a prob - you will start to get treatment calling to talk w/your surgeon/NUT will probably give you piece of mind after all is said and done - hopefully/probably all is well but...........always look out for you - check it out!!!! good luck kathy

Excruciating Knee Pain
grassmom Yes i had a similar issue with my weight vs knee surgery in October of 2011 my doc wanted to set me up for my 2nd knee replacement in our discussion i mentioned i was having weight loss surgery in a couple of months in so many words he said - hold the phone!!!! lets "weight"/wait LOL til you've had the surgery - lost weight i really wanted to get my knee replacement - but i knew the docs point my 5'3 frame was carrying two big bags of luggage that totalled 105 lbs I weighed 235 lbs the less you weigh the easier "things" will go basically referring to my/your long road of PT April 11th, 2012 - i finally had my knee replacement this was 4 months and 50 lbs since my original thought of having the WLS glad i had to wait - it was worth it sorry you are going through such pain congrats on losing 40 lbs thats terrific you will lose that final 20 soon - i know that doesn't help your present pain/mobility but it might give you the continued necessary encouragement to "forge" ahead your suffering now is terrible - i wish i could be there with you and squeeze your hand you have 20 lbs to lose prior to surgery your loss will be your "gain" recovery after knee replacement will go easier PT can/is quite an ordeal right after surgery BUT- since you will have lost 60 lbs total - you will have an easier time by the way, i see you now are in twoderland when was the last time you could say that???? good luck with your knee surgery you and your knees will feel so much better as you continue to lose more weight - you and your knees can "run" off into the sunset congrats take care kathy

11 days post op - scared I can eat alot
tml 11 days and counting being sleeved!!! you are still around to talk about it!!! when you are on liquids - like your Protein shake et al - you will not feel much if any restriction when you start eating solids - you'll be able to feel the sweet smell of "restriction" you had an egg which is a "soft" food, hummus, chocolate free fudgie? i agree with OP that sounds like a little more than i was able to eat at that time you repeated you won't "push" things in the future i know you won't be in the "aim of fire" because you will eat only what you are supposed to, not a bite more always measure what you are allowed to eat ie 2 oz of chicken - thats it - don't try to eat more yes, i have heard on the board OP that can't down an egg - or drink much of a shake or whatever but as OP said - we are all different "my egg" went down smooth as silk btw - remember that during your weight process - people lose weight, amount of weight in their own time period don't ever, ever compare yourself to other people people have been shot for less the one thing we all have in common is that we're all different I am 99.999999% positive that you didn't go through major surgery in vain!!! follow ALL the rules always and forever drink as much as possible -(64 oz at least) never drink with your meal wait 45-60 minutes after you eat before you eat anything chew thoroughly, eat slowly putting utensil down after each bite i can see you are a smart "cookie" you will do great!!!!! good luck kathy

Track calories or just let restriction do it's job?
christleouchley 3 months.......... you've lost 40 lbs - woooo hoooo you are doing terrific!!!!! never, ever, ever, ever compare your weight loss to someone elses the common thread between all of us - is that we're all different all our bodies are different (even if you are a "busy" body LOL) we all need/should be conscious of what we eat - calories, Protein, carbs et al that one friend of yours stops before she if full - but what about the calories she took in??? she/we need to be aware of how much we're taking in exaggeration - maybe she ate 4 slices of cherry pie and knew to stop-- but boy did she eat alot of calories!!! tracking or not????????? tracking does make yourself more aware of what you are eating daily protein, carbs, sugars - Water intake hanging head low - i don't track as often as i should so this is a case of - do as i say, not as i do!!!! as Don commented regarding his protein (post #2) he thought he was getting it all in, but after checking later, he realized he wasn't always successful (but he got back on the horse like i knew he would ) don't be concerned with your friends' weight, how long it took them to lose this is all about YOU!!!!! You are doing great!!!! keep up the good work kathy

Hair loss...when do you just cut it off?
AutismMom its always good to vent here - thats what we're "hair" for!! I am a "proud" breast cancer survivor these past 15 years my doc told me i would gradually lose all my hair from the chemo I was tired of watching my hair coming out in pieces, not knowing what i would look like the next day i opted to "take' charge and went to the hairdresser and told her to shave my head (i'm not telling you to do the same!! ) a "shaved" head beats dealing with cancer any day of the week, and twice on sunday so i guess the same can be said of weight loss people and their hair - losing their hair for a bit - winning the weight war??? hmmmmm no hard choice to make sounds like you are doing well by getting in all your Protein and Water in i'm sure you are following all the other rules too!!!! your in for the ride of your life!!!!! there are always bumps in the road here and there....... but you are on your way to a healthier, happier, longer life!!!! you will continue to look as gorgeous as you are now scarves, hats are in style your hair will grow back, prettier than ever if a busy body asks the reason for your new hat/scarves situation ...... tell them you have a scalp condition - and its very contagious good luck kathy
