The journey began May 15
@@InfiniteButterfly nice, indepth, post hey newbie surgery, done and over with yes, new chapter, life beginning you will be following a wonderful new road towards a healthier, happier, longer life "listen to your body" words from your doc great advice most/many of us have heard and hopefully follow 5 days PO - some pain still can/is normal you are/should be feeling better daily i can only imagine how difficult it must be for people to have families around eating normal sized portions, different good food leaving the room is/can be a good thing to do but "maybe" at some point you will be feeling ok to eat with others without feeling temptation you are right that you WILL be able to eat most/all foods again only difference (and its a big one) is that your quantity that you are allowed/supposed to eat will be very little so glad your hubby is a comfortable pillow he's a keeper it might/must be difficult having kids while being newly sleeved (also as time passes) but they will hopefully join in your excitement some/many people's insurance doesn't cover surgery at all glad you are covered ins also paying for continued therapy - how great is that keep up the good work for the rest of your healthier, happier, longer life (i know you will ) continued speedy recovery good luck kathy

As you get closer to weight goal does your calorie target change?
@@Teachamy while i was losing weight/through stalls and alls - I never upped my calories i have heard some./many people do increase their calories (exercising more - or changing things up a bit) if your NUT/doc "strongly suggests" you upp your calories, and you feel good with that - go for it i'm of the thought - "if it aint broken, don't fix it!! " you are continueing to lose weight terrifically keep up the good work kathy congrats

Will I be able to get rid of my CPAP machine?
@@Bandista hope you can get rid of the CPAP sooner than later "maybe" wait til you are down a few more lbs in my opinion you should do the sleep study this makes it more official I hated wearing that stupid CPAP (sometimes i wouldn't!!) when i reached goal, down 105 lbs, THEN i went for another sleep study saw the doc in a couple of weeks - was given the ok to stop the CPAP good luck to you 47 lbs down you are aces keep up the good work (i know you will ) kathy congrats

How much of ur long term success is from developing healthy habits or actual restriction?
longer I go, will the restriction still be my main goal or if the healthier habits @@marfar7 when i was early early PO and could feel total restriction........i thought cool this is gonna be great MAYBE as long as 10 months i did feel that great restriction unfortunately - ,2.5 years PO - i don't feel that restriction as much can not rely on my tummy telling me when to stop i know the portion i should put on my plate eating too much feeling my tummy really hurts i have eaten too much (really only a few times) and my tummy is not happy, but thats way after I should have stopped eating at the very beginning my surgeon jokingly, but true - said to me to eat until i'm full, but stop two bites earlier as we always say - we're all different i have heard on the forum from some people - after a long time they still have that marvelous restriction i wish i did too but my sleeve is still wonderful, helping me - and makes my life much better my lifestyle/eating habits i've learned - remain in tact as with some/many/most i will indulge in a couple (or three or four) bites of something that is not really Kosher but..........we sometimes/always tell OP that we will be able to eat anything PO shouldn't deprive ourselves i will eat much smalllller quanities bottom line, you should/must continue to eat, healthy continue with the good habits you've learned and watch how little you eat 97 lbs lost holding the door open for you to enter the century club keep up your great job!!!!! kathy

Long term physical considerations
@@Fiddleman i was/am terrified that i will have one of those stupid "humps" on my back i have bone scan every two years - its not the greatest, but i am a worry wart thats why i've always been very mindful of my walking straight and tall i always held my head, thus my back - staight up kindof like a broom was sticking up my asssssss stood/walked very erect therefore my shoulders et al are/were never affected now after losing 105 lbs - i am walking/standing even taller kathy

Pre-op diet - pantry necessities
@@wittygirl i also did the basic stuff about ridding the pantry/fridge/freezer of most/all "bad" foods suggestion - do not put frozen yummy SF popsicles in pantry!!! but...................i also decided to paint my walk in pantry a pretty sky blue makes it look nicer getting my food now i enjoy walking into my pantry - picking out my food its always been very important for me to set a "pretty" plate putting on a nice small plate always use complimentary colors to eat ie fish (white) with example green Beans, spinich et al fish and cauliflower - people have been shot for less good luck with pre-op and surgery of course kathy

Energy bars
@@ClarityHill Protein Bars are absolutely delicious they have plenty of protein as advertised which is great carbs "can" be high so as with many things you need to check the label many/me too, find the Quest bars delicious - yum yum you can buy them at for example GNC - other stores too but not by me probably online this/that being said............... i rarely buy protein bars because they are very addicting for me can easily eat tooooo many over a day Protein Bar is good to throw in your purse or glove compartment when you know you might be unable to grab lunch or if you are really hungry - better a protein bar than a container of ice cream four weeks PO - and you are still alive to talk about it!!! keep up the good work i know you will enjoy the ride to your healthier, happier longer life good luck and best wishes kathy
