  2. @@bigjoemccarthy hey dude re-enforcing what everyone else has said don't give up appeal, appeal, and then appeal don't take NO without a fight I "think" @@Miss Mac has a great list of co-morbities that can be used to appeal their decision going out of the country is a great alternative/suggestion for surgery if you are not approved but paying ONLY ie $7,000.00 can be the same as paying $7 million if you don't have it, you don't have it (maybe you do have the money though ) determination, willpower, strength you will need the above post surgery (when you do have it ) remember - don't take this laying down good luck guy kathy
  3. @@Capricornrose this IS seriously a question that has plagued some/many/most of mankind for centuries no magic answer glad you are back on track any and all comments/suggestions are helpful walking, chewing gum, talking on the phone, going shopping but they sure don't taste as good as food but always, run, run, run away from the frig, and fast food places i remember what i used to look like, and how unhealthy i was thats enough for anyone to start drinking!!!! (too many calories ) pre-op and post op 83 pounds down keep up the great work kathy congrats
  4. @ its one thing not to lose weight by being in such a strict regiment its another to gain weight!!! sorry you have these severe weight issues hope the doc and you have a good discussion if doc agrees that more surgery would be a good idea, go for it best of luck to you kathy
  5. @@Firefly2000 love the above phrase from one country to another - welcome, welcome, welcome great to have another handsome man in the group you listed 144 kg as your starting weight kg = 2.2??? starting weight = 316 ( 301.84???) you've lost 3.5 kg (7.48 lbs lost) hope i dd this right??? don't worry about what "the other guy" has lost we lose at our own pace, and we should NEVER compare our weight loss to someone elses popular phrase on this board "the one thing we have in common, is that we're all different ;)" you are following doctors orders - keep it up you wrote this about a week ago how are you doing now???? hope things are continueing to go well surgery coming up soon speedy recovery good luck kathy

  8. hey Dude or Duttete you are NOT a dummy you made the wise decision to be sleeved, so IMO your VERY smart don't really know the answer but i wanted to reply if you've only had a few puffs, and the zero nicotine ? ecig not sure what that that is??? no BIG lecture, but.......... many people who are smokers, quit before WLS and continue after surgery to be smoke free you are having surgery is to help get healthy it would be great if you could permanately stop smoking again, no judgement intended - just stating my opinion/thoughts good luck kathy
  9. @@iamblessed1225 before i had surgery - my NUT said no to cereal with milk i freaked!!!! she said "wellllll, you can put a "littttttle" milk on top??? never did it the drinking while eating situation forward about 1 year + i started to have cereal with milk "on an occassion" at 2.5 years PO , i have it sometimes, but not that often just cuz i got out of the habitt for me, it was a good habit to slow down i used to overdue, so i would rather not have cereal around as a temptation good luck kathy

  15. @@micphd happy you are rightfully loving your new best friend the sleeve Its fine to listen to other peoples comment/thoughts but.............don't let them rule your life if you feel you have lost sufficient/good amount of weight - you feel great et al then YOU make the decision to continue and lose more weight - or to stop losing its YOUR choice don't go by certain #s such as BMI, your weight many times those charts don't "fit" the person I've heard some/many others say they have successfully lost desired weight - BUT the "chart" still says thats too high listen to YOUR body if you are done losing - your decision - then maybe up your calories a bit down 2 shirt sizes 3 pant sizes too 100 lbs!!! OMG - you have enterred the century club holding the door open we love getting new handsome faces in the group good luck kathy congrats
  16. @@kdotson awwwwww man, was that YOU i just heard some/many/most people burp or have a runny/sneezing nose this happens when your cute little tummy starts/gets full it can be embarrassing, but if this is the worst thing that ever happens to you........... i didn't realize i would burp so often/and loud when i came home from hospital one day hubby was in other room, and he heard my extra loud burp (you probably did too!! ) he kindof came running in the room and we had a good laugh (i was a little sore, so he laughed more for the both of us!!! ) at 2.5 years PO, i sometimes still have a good burp or two but i don't think theres anything that can prevent the situation get used to it while you are losing weight, and whistle while you "have" to shop for new clothes good luck continued speedy recovery kathy
  17. @@Sbagdan from all the fellow sleevers et al You are very welcome always great to see a handsome newbie on site i can tell you are a smart "cookie" by coming to the board listening to all our "wise" advice ask more questions be sure to listen to everyone elses situations too many problems/concerns that "they" have.............you might face sooner or later you can also go to the "search" button in the right top corner and put in a word (ie stall) but don't be afraid to ask any questions - we don't bite - wellll most of us don't hope you go through all the insurance hoops successfully, sooner than later good luck kathy
  18. @@yasmineSF welcome home glad things went well with surgery between getting all your Protein and drinking........ drinking is MUCH more important when/if you don't drink enough - you might get dehydrated try sipping room temperature Water - that might be easier for you to swallow sip slowly walking around the house for a while is good too especially if you still have some gas continued good luck during recovery in my chrystal ball i see you will have a wonderful healthier, happier, longer life good luck kathy
  19. @@LaurieC awwwww hun sorry you feel so rotten!!!! as others have said - things should/do get better everybody recuperates differently it takes some people longer than others to feel better try and get plenty of rest you need to drink so you don't get dehydrated don't worry about Protein - if you can't hold the Protein shakes down now, oh wellllll Water is much more important at this point (and later too) some/many newbies think warm/room temp water goes down easier sugar free popsicles are terrific too i hope you have some sort of support system (hubby, family, friends) if it makes you feel better - call your doc maybe he can give you something while you are nauseous you will NOT live this way forever your life will/should improve - sooner than later you made the wise decision to have WLS don't second guess yourself now!!!! might be hard to believe now - but you have started on the path to a healthier, happier, longer life with your new best friend the sleeve good luck improved recovery to you kathy
  20. @@Sbagdan some/many/all of us have many different emotions prior to surgery very normal you might be scared, concerned, nervous, than elated, excited, happy, anxious, impatient et al these feelings will periodically change - you'll have your ups and downs but in the end - you will have your surgery, and most likely everything will go great you MIGHT have some minor normal issues of gas/being extremely tired et al but this too will pass and hopefully things will continue to go better PO day after day my insurance condensed story - i was told Medicare would approve me had surgery and 2 months late received a bill for 22,000.00!!!! medicare didn't cover the sleeve (now it does) after 3 months of "discussions" with my secondary insurance (Blue Cross) i was finally approved!!!! good luck with pre-op getting all your T's crossed and your I's dotted!!! you are on your way to a healthier, happier, longer life with the sleeve (or whatever you are having done) good luck kathy

  22. @@jdillon reallllly good that you are aware that a few things "can/maybe" happen some people things everything will ALWAYS be peaches and cream some/many have no problems immediately PO - or later either (me) but issues can happen - usually not, but..... "plan for the worst, hope for the best" like i said, i know you've been wandering/lurking around the board for awhile you probably know to walk asap PO to get rid of potential gas sip Water slowly, carefully if you feel tired when you are home - rest its your turn to take care of YOU first you are important - we all are/were - just didn't always realize it as your phases keep moving - always listen to your NUT/surgeon they are the ones that have all the right answers for YOU (they think so,humor them ) eat slowly stop drinking about 30 minutes before you eat do not EVER, EVER drink with your meals (people have been shot for less ) do not drink for 45-60 minutes after you eat drink at least 64 oz a day (more if possible) measure your food eat your dense Protein first (ie chicken) ,that will help fill your tummy quicker and make you feel full longer chew thoroughly put utensil down between bites NUT might give you different time periods when, how much to eat et al remember listen to her like she knows everything she might not know everything, but humor her these are just a few of the many rules you should/must follow for the rest of your healthier, happier, longer life never miss a chance to scream my stats DOS 12/15/11 235 lbs 57 years OLD 5/22/14 130 lbs GOAL 60 years YOUNG good luck bud kathy
