  1. Congratulations! Hope it's painless!
  2. I had a Dr that I switched from when I started the process because she was always a bit rude. I had tried other insurance program weight loss options (where you speak with someone at insurance as a coach and see a dietician and Dr) and she was totally unreceptive and cold. I figured I would get her out of the way first thing.
  3. I was only required to be on a low-fat diet prior to surgery, but also chose to do a pseudo liquid with protein drinks, yogurt, and a protein bar per day.
  4. If I have a bad day, I just evaluate what went wrong (emotional issues, head hunger, etc) and make a plan for the next day. If I'm feeling particularly wishy-washy and don't think I will make good choices, I sit down the night before and plan out/pack my meals. Just acknowledge the problem and then move on. No need to beat yourself up about it.
  5. As I've seen many times on the board, "it's just another diet til you find restriction." Until you are at the right fill level, you will have to diet like the olden days to lose weight.
  6. you need to keep visiting your surgeon for monthly follow up appointments. At these appointments, they will decide based on weight loss if you need another fill.
  7. I do not have diabetes, but if you are truly looking into this for that reason, I feel obliged to tell you that gastric bypass "cures" diabetes at a higher rate than lapband.
  8. I moved four weeks and a couple days after surgery. I was okay, but really, who likes moving?!
  9. I also feel it immediately. I started to notice light restriction at 4cc and am now at 4.5cc with a little more. I go in next week for another fill and am hoping for another .5 or 1cc.
  10. I can't really answer your question, but I have read a lot on the boards about hernias causing reflux. Did they mention if they thought you had a hernia or not?
  11. I guess my only question is, do you think you're ready for this? I would also recommend reading The End of Overeating, which describes ways the food corporations make foods addictive. Maybe it will help to shed some light on why you are the way you are. I was 23 when banded, and I welcomed the help with open arms. I have tried many, many diets in my life and have been obese since age 7, so I knew that if I didn't do this that I would spend the rest of my life struggling with weight and ultimately regret passing up the chance to change my life in a good way.
  12. I was told to take a chewable multi and calcium chew in addition to meds I was already taking (thyroid, iron, Vit D). I also take a chewable B complex and was given the equation of body weight x 0.3 = amount of protein needed.
  13. It seems like your path has taken a long time to get to its destination, but you're here and focusing on you. I'm sorry about the loss of your father, and hope that you can find support and guidance here.
  14. A gal I know just had her gallbladder removed today. She had gastric approx 1.5 years ago, and it came to the point where she suffered pain after eating and other common issues. I would say get it checked out anyways, you never know what it could be.
  15. I would say suck on an ice cube and hopefully it gets better.
  16. chewing causes the release of saliva as the body is preparing to digest food I'm not sure if churning starts automatically as part of this...
  17. I would ask if you have any saline in your band; if you do, have them remove it.
  18. My nutritionist likes to say there are no "bad" foods, just foods you shouldn't eat as often as others. I tend to agree. I also like to look at this as a lifestyle change and not a diet- I do track calories as well, but just so I know I'm getting enough Protein and sticking to lower calorie. I was also told to have some calorie wiggle room, such as 1000-1200 a day instead of a set number like 1000. Some days you are physically hungrier and need more food than others. Yesterday I was physically experiencing the painful hunger pains even though I had already eaten dinner. I chose to have a yogurt and my hunger was gone.
  19. Awesome progress, you look great!I think the photos are harder to see your body shape because you are wearing dresses and not form fitting clothing... I can definitely see loss in your arms though
  20. I'm not sure, but I think it's public? I've only seen other patients there, but like I said, there's not too many?
  21. When> within 30 sec usually for me. The longest I've had was a couple minutes, but I guess if you really take a huge bite, it could be longer (I've heard of hours before). I can now tell if something is going to get stuck from listening to warning signals- if I stop and wait a few minutes and then chew better, I will avoid an incidence.
  22. I'm sorry, but isn't it realistic to say that we are fat, no? Isn't that the reason why we are all here? So my use of the word fat is not meant as an insult, like your use of the word hefer. You've since edited your post, but you did call her fat in another part of the post, so I was just combining your terms. Like I said, I was just trying to remind you to be mindful of others struggles with weight, even when those people upset you.
  23. I still occasionally enjoy a Starbucks skinny caramel macchiato (grande is 140 calories and 11 protein).
