  1. You do have to keep in mind that some things you won't be able to tolerate or even like at first but if you try them again in a few weeks you will do fine. For example I have never had any problem with chicken or steak but can just now at 1 yr eat hamburger meat without feeling like it is stuck. Each and every person is so very different. If you do have problems with a food just wait and try again later. I think most people go through a phase of lactose intolerance post op that seems to last for a few weeks/months and for some doesn't go away. Mine lasted for about 8 weeks and then everything got back to normal. Your taste will be off after surgery too just because that is what surgery, any surgery does sometimes. My daughter in law and a good friend had surgeries, one c-section and one had hip surgery, around the same time I had mine and we all had the same problems with things tasting really off. Stuff tasting sicky sweet, etc. I hiope this has helped. Good luck with your surgery.
  2. I do drink coke zero. Not very often but if I want one I get it and have no problem drinking it. Some people think it will stretch out your stomach but my surgeon said he took almost all of the stretchy part out and what I have left is fairly muscular and will never stretch out. My motto is all things in moderation.
  3. I am one year post op and I can eat anything with no problems. I eat exactly what my family does just in teeny tiny portions.
  4. I LOVE the shakes. I add the extra protein powder and get about 21 gr per shake and they are really really good. They have a little recipe book that tells how to mix them to make different flavors. As an example, the cookies and cream, 2 tablespoons rice crispies, 5 min. marshmallows, 2 tablespoons sugar free cheesecake pudding mix, ice and skim milk, mix in blender well = rice krispy treat shake and it tastes just like a rice krispy treat. I don't count carbs and never have just the calories and protein.
  5. I was self pay and I didn't see one. I don't feel that I missed anything. My doctor gave me diet and vitamin instructions and now a yr out I just eat like everyone else just very small portions. I think it's totally up to you and what you feel comfortable with. Good luck.
  6. The "no blind NG insertion" rule is because there is so little stomach that it can be punctured if an NG tube is inserted incorrectly. I also have no medicine restrictions.
  7. I eat popcorn with no problems.
  8. I am a year out and there is nothing I can't eat now. I did have difficulty with few foods at first not making me sick just didn't feel right in my stomach. Now I eat anything I want just in small portions. If something doesn't set well with you just wait a few weeks and try it again, that's what I did anyway.
  9. Absolutely you are a success!! I have considered taking the goal weight off my ticker so many times because I feel great right where I am. Yet, when I see that ticker I feel bad that I haven't made more of an effort to get to that number. This time last year I was 240 and wearing a 20/22 now I am 165 and wearing an 8/10 so I KNOW I'm not a failure yet that mocking "goal" weight tries to tell me I am. I have maintained this weight for 6 months now with no effort at all and that is really why I wanted surgery, for the mainteance of the weight loss. So don't let a number define your satisfaction with yourself.
  10. I know!! I can't believe it when I go shopping and can just pick up an 8 or 10 and count on it fitting. I still gravitate towards the 18/16 stuff and then have to tell myself " nope self you are not that big any more" LOL
  11. This time last year I was a solid size 20 pant and a 1x or 2x top, now I am a size 8 or 10 pant and a size med top.
  12. I love low rise jeans, but I have a lower waist too. I find that the low rise don't cut me in two and just look better.
  13. I've been at 83% since about 6 months and I am 15 lbs from goal.
  14. Mine is 38f and it's working great. Put bougie in the search box and tons of results some with pictures of the size comparisons will come up.
  15. I have to eat something when I take anitbiotics. Like maybe a couple of crackers. Hope it helps.
  16. Yep that's what I get the on the go single packets for a dollar. I will have to try the wylers too. I keep some in my purse for when we are eating out I can get a glass of Water to go and have a drink when I'm ready. I also use them all day at work. I hate plain water. lol
  17. i do sugarfree hawaiian punch. there are several flavors and all of them are delish.
  18. Mine was 90% vanity, I use to weigh 135 and measurements were 37-26-37, and 10% everything else. I have no health issues to speak of and no emotional issues so vanity was the motivation for my surgery.
  19. My incisions are way below my bra line. I wore a bra in the hospital even.
  20. I use about a tablespoon of the dry mix.
  21. I came home from the hospital on mushies, adding a few new things every day. I was cleared for anything at 5 weeks. My cousin's dr in Utah never had her do any protein shakes at all, he started her getting protein from foods from the very first. so every doctor is different. My dr said no carbonation for 3 months but also said after that it can't stretch the sleeve.
  22. i got a ice shaver for snow cones from walmart and did shaved ice with lemon juice and salt. yum yum also sf snow cone syrup. it takes a long time to eat, you get to crunch and get in a cup or so of fluid at the same time.
  23. I think I would have to tell her that she gets that job now! She is beyond rude and certainly not much of a friend.
  24. Just my opinion, but I think it depends on the surgeon's technique. My dr said he took most all of the stretchy part of the stomach so there shouldn't be any stretching out.
  25. I never give it time to melt and it's the exact consistency of a milkshake. lol I use sf syrups too and pb2. I love to use sf hershey syrup, sf white chocolate pudding mix and pb2. tastes just like a white reeses cup.
