  1. WHOA....you look like a different person! Great job! Thanks for sharing your pics!
  2. My protein drink this morning had 20 grams, I then added 40 grams with 2 scoops of Unjury. All of that was added to 16 oz. of water. So in that drink it is safe to say that I absorbed all 60 grams? It makes sense not to worry about the fat bc we are burning fat right now.
  3. Hi! Congratulations! I am also from WI, you don't live too far from me! Don't worry about the size, you will do just fine. There really isn't much difference between sizes anyway. Keep us updated on your progress.
  4. I am reading contradicting articles on the internet about how much Protein your body can absorb in one sitting. Does anyone know the answer to this? I am reading that your body can only absorb 30 grams of protein in on sitting and the rest turns into fat and it makes it hard for your kidneys to have more than 30 grams at a time. What are your thoughts on this?
  5. Don't give up, up CAN do this! You came this far to stop now! This is what I would do if I was in your situation. I would call the insurance company back and talk to a supervisor to make sure the information the rep gave you is correct. Then I would have the dr. office submit your information. The people who decide are the ones who will give you the real answer. If they deny it then I would appeal. Keep notes and write down everything in the appeal letter. If they still deny it then by all means go to another doctor. I would think that they would be happy to accept the of the tests you just had done. You can also check out the insurance forum on this site. I am sure there are people there who have gone through the same things. Best of luck to you...don't give up!
  6. Just remember that everyone is different. Most people have terrible gas pains from the gas they pump in your stomach during surgery. It usually doesn't last long from what I am told. I was very fortunate and didn't have any gas pain or any pain at all after the surgery. I did ask for pain meds as soon as I felt something so I think that I stayed on top of the pain that I would have felt. I also didn't have any nausea at all...I'm 12 days post op and still haven't had any nausea. I do usually have some diarrhea after I eat. I was a little tender where my incisions were after the surgery but it wasn't painful for me at all. It felt to me like I had a really good ab workout.
  7. Great post Mama S! Fear of the unknown is usually what keeps us from moving forward! When we face our fears we feel so much stronger!
  8. Thanks for posting this information. I would have never thought of that. I am so happy that nothing was wrong!
  9. Do not feel foolish! What you are feeling is real and we all went through it! We are hear to support and help you through your fears. Many people helped me! There is even one member on here that was such a help to me that I now call her Mama Sleeve. She is about the same age as my mom and reminds me of her!
  10. It is understandable to be nervous, we all are before surgery. Plus, our emotions are going crazy!! You will be ok. One thing that I kept in mind when I was reading of the issues people had was that they always got better. I have not read of anyone who has had problems and kept having problems. Also, remember that this is major surgery. You won't be the same right away. It will take you a while to heal, you need to give your body time to heal. I didn't have any issues at all with pain or nausea after surgery. I haven't had any problems with not being able to eat....yet, I am only 11 days post op. If I do, I will deal with it and I know it won't last forever. The pros of this surgery far outweigh the cons. I have already lost 23 pounds (this includes my week preop diet). Those 23 pounds have made a huge difference in how I feel already!! I was dehydrated and had to have two bags of fluids yesterday. It wasn't a big deal. I am pretty in tune to my body so I knew what was going on. I saw my PCP and she agreed I was dehydrated and sent me for fluids. I felt so good after and today I feel even better. I haven't even taken a nap and I have been busy all day! I know it may happen again and I'm ok with that. Hang in there, don't cancel. The reason people get so scared is because of the fear of the unknown. You can do this and you will be happy you did it and before long you will be offering support to those out there who are scared just like you!
  11. Scroll down a bit and you will find a forum called, "Pregnancy with VSG". I bet you will find a lot of support there! Best of luck to you!
  12. I would really look at the fat free things you are eating. A lot of that is loaded with sugar. They put more sugar in fat free items to make them taste better after they take away the fat. I agree with everyone else, you need to be eating Protein. Have you met with a nutritionist? Also, if you try to relax and not stress out your blood sugar should go down. Stress can make your blood sugar go up. Take a deep breath and try to relax as much as possible. Do what you can...if your surgery is postponed then there is a reason for it. Deep breaths....
  13. How was your appointment? Were your nerves calmed after talking to the surgeon?
  14. Your post made me laugh! I can't wait to experience what you talked about. My only question is...do you really dip those chips in ketchup??? I never heard of that!
  15. I'm sorry you puked at work. I haven't puked yet and I'm not looking forward to the day I do.
  16. You sound dehydrated. I am 10 days post op and I needed to get 2 bags of fluid today. I can keep everything down but I just haven't been able to drink what my body needs. I went to my PCP and she is the one that sent me to get fluids. I feel so much better! Can you try going to your PCP instead of your surgeon? I hope you can get some answers.
  17. Awww...I'm sorry you have to go alone but you can do it! I would come to the hospital to be with you if I didn't live in WI! You will be ok and the nurses will be there to take good care of you. You will be tired after surgery so you will be sleeping a bunch anyway. I, too, felt overwhelmed with the amount of info I needed to learn. I am getting better now that I am 10 days out. You get used to things and figure out what you can have and when you can have it. A lot of it has to do with how your new sleeve feels. You'll get the hang of it. If you have a laptop to take with you to the hospital you can talk us while you are there.
  18. One week out and I am doing really well. I tire easily but that is to be expected. The only thing I have asked for help with is carrying laundry around. I was told not to lift for 6 weeks. If I go to the grocery store I will ask for help with bringing in the bags also. Although, I could carry in a couple things at a time, that would be good exercise!
  19. How exciting! I am happy for you!
  20. I did used to run out of breath easily with my asthma, especially when I worked out. About a year ago I started working with a trainer and he really worked on deep breathing and strengthening my lungs. This helped so much! I no longer need to use my inhaler when I work out. My asthma now only acts up when my allergies act up.
  21. Yes I am sure it is just the asthma.Do you use an inhaler now? I really think you will be ok and be able to have the surgery. Think positive thoughts! I also had a stress test and did fine with it. Even though I am overweight I enjoy exercise and I do/did before surgery, exercise on a regular basis. I might suggest to you to start walking slowly just to strengthen yourself for recovery. I strongly believe I have had such a good recovery bc I was active bf the surgery.
  22. food is no longer; my enemy, my punishment, my reward, my crutch, my shield, my friend, or a slow form of self harm. Food does not define me, and it does not rule me. I love what you wrote! Congratulations and thanks for sharing!
  23. No, not at all. I wasn't "off the charts" as in crazy off the charts. It was more like on the computer there is a line that your breathing/lungs should be in when you breathe into the machine...mine was not quite where it should be on the line. It's hard to explain. So it wasn't that I was way off. I used the inhaler and then I was right where I needed to be. I really don't think they would cancel your surgery unless you have a lung problem or something. I have asthma so that is why my tests came out the way they did. Do you know if you have asthma? Are you a smoker?
  24. WOW! I can't believe how much different you look and only after 10 weeks. You look GREAT! Congratulations and thanks for sharing!
  25. I had to look up what a cholecystectomy is...fancy for having your gallbladder removed! lol Glad you found a doctor you are comfortable with!
