  1. I have had to learn to just take care of myself. What others put in their mouths is their business. It has been hard. Just remember you are doing this for your health.
  2. Do you log every calorie? Try one of the free websites like myfitnesspal.com
  3. I checked their website out. www.brandsurgical.com There is a place to contact them. We all need to write and complain about that ad. It looks like they are a cosmetic surgery center in L.A.
  4. Completely normal. I would gain/loose the same 2 or 3 lbs for weeks. It is frustrating. I have to log everything I eat and excersise. I use myfitnesspal.com. Also, I learned if I do not drink at least 100 oz. of water a day my weight stalls. Try weighing only once a week. It will be less frustrating.
  5. Ask your pharmacy for Meclizine. It is an over the counter medication for motion sickness and vertigo. Works very well!
  6. Okay, maybe I am just sensitive because I have been overweight for years BUT...............I would NEVER make a comment about someone expecting. Don't let it bother you though. Use this as a reason to focus on your weight loss!
  7. My surgeon told me on the day of my surgery that he would be worried about me if I did not have jitters. What you are feeling is normal! This has been a great decision for me. I hope your journey is as smooth as mine! Good luck.
  8. Hi! Welcome to LBT. I live in Granbury, TX (just south of Ft. Worth). I am a stay at home mom to 3 girls. Congrats on your success!
  9. OMG! You read my mind. I went bra shopping this morning and cup sizes were all over the map. I decided that I will go to Dillards or Nordstrom and be professionally fitted when I loose a little more. Until then............sports bras are my new thing!
  10. I just had my 3rd fill and I must admit I am hungry. Very hungry! I feel a little restriction but I really have to use my willpower!
  11. I learned the hard way............after the band. One stuck episode and I never want to be stuck again!
  12. I second this! Without the band I may be able to loose but I always gain back + extra! It is a tool. You will still have to do the work! It is by no means a quick fix.
  13. The heating pad is the only thing that helped me. It was a life saver.
  14. I don't and will not listen to negative comments. I feel much better about myself and I think it probably comes across. Those with "negative" comments are mostly people who think the band is bypass. So, I try to educate them. You will be so proud of yourself! It seems you have the right mind-set to have a very successful journey.
  15. It is miserable and hurts so bad Sorry you had to endure it!
  16. I think Cindy is right. From the beginning I have not treated this as a diet but a new lifestyle. Therefore, if I want icecream I take a BITE. If I want chocolate I have a fun size 3 Musketeers. There is a big difference between what I would have ate pre-band and now. I now know my limits. I track my calories. Moderation is the key. I think if I just NEVER gave in to some treats I would be miserable and eventually fall off the wagon. This is my new life. I actually found this whole topic postive. I think it shows we all have self control now and a little indulgence now and then won't hurt us!
  17. Most doctors won't do a fill until 6 weeks post-op. You are in the stage that is lovingly called "Bandster Hell". It may take several fills to feel satisfied after a small meal. Now is the time to use your will power. I recommend tracking every bite that enters your mouth. I use myfitnesspal.com but there are other free sites as well. Tracking calories is what has helped be be accountable. When I think I am hungry I drink about 16 oz. of water and wait 15-20 minutes to decide if it is real or head hunger. Good luck! We have all been in this stage. Hang in there. It gets easier.
  18. My doctor did not numb me the first time. The second and third time I asked for a numbing shot. I think it depends on where your port is and how easily accessible it is. I am just a big chicken though and would rather feel nothing. Either way, the fill is totally worth it!
  19. Hang in there! I know how it feels to have a setback. 2 years ago my insurance wouldn't approve the surgery. Keep working hard and it will happen.
  20. Rachel, I love it! I am glad you had fun. I love WA! So glad it helped with your arthritis! You are rocking along in your weight loss. Congratulations.
  21. Sending a Whoop-Whoop your way! Congratulations on your success!
  22. You are doing so well! Congratulations. I did not feel anything until the 3rd fill. That being said, I do not want to feel a lot of restriction. I tend to believe I need to use my self control. I calculate every calorie going into my mouth. It sounds like you have a lot of self control. Wouldn't you rather not PB or slime? I promise it is not fun at all!
  23. My doctor uses Lap-Band only. But I know that there are different port sizes so ask about them.
  24. I don't know why but we had to pay $400 out of pocket. I even sent in the reinbursement form just in case.........but they didn't refund anything!
  25. My hubby and I were banded within a month of eachother. It is definately a bonding experience! It is nice to have someone who knows what you are going through.
