  1. Follow your band surgeons rules and you will do fine. There are risks with anything. Go for it! It has been the best decision I have made in a long time.
  2. I did outpatient. In at 8 and out by 3.
  3. I drink at LEAST 100 oz. of water a day. I track EVERYTHING that goes in my mouth via myfitnesspal.com. I think tracking has really made me aware of what I eat. I also swim every day at least 45 minutes.
  4. You rock! Keep up the great work! I workout in the pool 4-5 times a week. I can burn so many more calories than on the treadmill!
  5. Everyone has been very supportibe although there have been several familiy members that have told many people (not out of meanness but because they are proud of my success). I am pretty open with everyone about the band. I think there are so many people out there that mistake us for bypass patients. I have educated a lot of people on the band. I pretty much dismiss any negative comments. We did this for ourselves, our families and our health. It was my decision and I have to live with it. I am proud of my band!
  6. I haven't tried the dark chocolate mint but it sounds heavenly! I will have to try it next time. I figured it the lesser evil of all the candy bars! Isn't it funny how our perception changes after Lap-Band? I have to make sure that everything fits into my calories for the day now. Cindy you have really done well on the weight loss! You and I started out at similiar weights and have very similiar goals. What are your secrets for success?
  7. My new favorites after band are Cheetos (the puffy kind) and 3 Musketeers. I am glad to say that I now share a 3 Musketeers bar with my 3 kids and am satisfied. Before the band there would have been no sharing! Now I am satisfied with 1/4 of a candy bar.
  8. Flinstones with Iron. My kids and I both take them! Vitamin D 200 mg. I tend to eat string cheese or Baby Bell Light for calcium. I think I will try the energy drink. What brand is it?
  9. Me too! I was banded April 5th and have been loosing hair like crazy. Luckily, I too have enough hair for 5 people but still.......I also log all protein so I have been hitting my goal there! Maybe it is just the stress of being newly banded. I hope someone comes along and tells us some supplements to take!
  10. We are human barometers!
  11. I have no problem in the pool. I wonder if it was just hot this morning and no breeze. My band seems to be tighter in the morning.
  12. No problems here either. I love my band! I just wish I would have done it sooner.
  13. Does anyone's band get tight in the heat? We went to the 4th of July parade today and while I was in the shade and drank at least 64 oz. of water to keep hydrated I felt my band get tight and a bit whoozy. Keep in mind it was 94 degrees this morning (gotta love Texas).
  14. And, in the water you burn so many calories. Get on myfitnesspal.com or another website and track all food and excersise. I want to say water aerobics is around 300 calories for 1/2 hour. I can burn so many more calories in the water than walking! I had a plateau and the only thing that helped was to increase my water intake to 100 oz. or more per day. You may try drinking more water. Hang in there, when you get the right fill you will see the weight come off!
  15. How much water do you drink a day? I noticed when I stalled that if I increased my water intake to 100 oz. it made a difference. Maybe up calories and water intake.
  16. You will get through this. And you will be able to eat food again. Will it be in the same portions as before band? No. But you won't miss it. Hang in there. It gets better!
  17. Acadia, I am so glad you told us about this. My surgeon did not put any fluid in but I had 2.2 cc's already in when I went for my first fill. I guess it was a passive fill. This is great information.
  18. I wrote about my experience with my first fill on my blog as well. It was in May. I will say, I have them numb it now. I think my port is a little hard to get!
  19. I would do it again in a heartbeat!
  20. Be kind to yourself. You have been through a lot. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
  21. I still have constipation. My morning ritual consists of Miralax and Benefiber washed down with a cup of black coffee. I also make sure to drink at least 100 oz. of water a day.
  22. I had 2.2 CC's in band after surgery. Next fill he gave me 2. Second and Third fill were .5 each. My surgeon won't do more that .5 either. He said that is the max he gives after the intital. Hang in there. It is so hard that is why I track everything on myfitnesspal.com.
  23. Drink some warm tea. Warm beverages seem to help me when swollen. If you don't like tea maybe decaf coffee.
  24. Oh my goodness! Your post made me giggle....I apologize because I would not have been happy had I woken up wet! Maybe it got you better service though......so that in itself is a blessing in disguise. I am sure the nurses have seen much worse!
  25. I have to say I totally agree. This 1/2 cup business is nonsense. My nutrionist won't even talk about anything other than 1000-1200 calores per day. I have been continually loosing since pre-op by counting calories. Please people, use some common sense and realize our bodies need fuel to keep going. 1/2 cup may be fine RIGHT after surgery but 3 month or a yr. out it will cause malnutrition and Vitamin deficencies.
