  1. I completely understand! I lost 15 pounds my first week, and hardly lost anything in week 2, nothing in week 3. Then, all of a sudden in week 4 I started losing again. Then TOM hit and I'm stalled again...lol Don't freak out, do what Chef and the rest say and you'll be fine. Protein, protein, sip, sip
  2. I'm having that issue too right now. I had some chips on the 4th of July and they were the most delicious things in the world to me. I've been struggling to stay away from them ever since!! I have been on a major salt kick lately. really have to be careful and eat my Protein first so I fill myself up or i will get myself in trouble. I'm only 5 weeks out but I haven't had any food issues and can eat pretty much anything. I almost wish things made me sick but I do understand it's about using the sleeve correctly and re-learning how to eat properly and healthy.
  3. I love those meatballs. They are an easy as bfast, lunch, or dinner. I can eat three and I'm stuffed...no room for any junk
  4. Hi there, I'm almost 6 weeks out and I've also felt the need to cheat. I don't really think of it as cheating, however, since I really can't eat very much at a time. I bought a box of those mini ice cream cone things, and they are 120 calories and perfect as a cheat. My kids love them, and as long as I'm good on calories and carbs for the day, I have been allowing myself to have one at night. Some nights I have one and some nights I'm just too full from dinner, which is great! I love the sleeve and definitely appreciate the restriction it gives me.
  5. Hey Tamz, I was sleeved on 6-6 so we are really close. I have found that I can eat a lot more food than a lot of other people can too. I've been on solids for a couple of weeks now, but I can eat a good 4 ounces of food, and often I will need to eat again in a couple of hours because I get hungry again. I probably average 800 - 1000 calories in a day! At first it freaked me out, but I'm still losing, so I must be doing okay. An example of Breakfast for me is 1/2 slice of sour dough toast with butter and a piece of turkey bologna or something like that. lunch was about 1/2 cup of egg custard, and two hours later i had three pieces of sliced colby cheese. I then drank 1/4 of a Protein shake on the way home for some extra protein since I still struggle getting it all in. For some reason I've been on a toast kick and seem to crave that piece of sourdough every morning...It's so delicious to me I just can't help myself....lol
  6. I've had that happen a lot recently as well. I'm 4 weeks out and have lost 24 pounds since surgery, and people have noticed. I just tell them bluntly that I've had weight loss surgery when they ask me about it (don't want them to think I'm dying or anything...lol) At a unit lunch recently, I ordered guacamole for lunch because it was the only thing I knew I could eat. It was totally fine because everyone knew about the surgery, and for the most part people have been receptive, have asked lots of questions, and have been supportive. Good luck! I hope your co workers are respectful and supportive of you as well
  7. Sounds like you have a good list! I was able to eat mashed potatoes with fat free brown gravy on top at this point as well, but it's not the best option as there isn't any Protein. Also, have you tried the almond cheese from Whole Foods? My husband is lactose intolerant and loves this cheese. He likes the almond cheddar the best
  8. Hey Nurse, I had diarrhea probs the first week after my surgery as well, but it cleared up. I also had back pain that went away and then came back with a vengence. If your back pain does not go away, go to your doctor. Mine was a kidney infection and a bladder infection from the catheter during the surgery most likely. They gave me antibiotics for both and sent me home. I waited WAY too long to go in, and was in ridiculous pain with fever, chills, etc., so if the back pain continues please see your doctor before it gets out of hand like mine did. I was also on Protein drinks by the time I left the hospital and could eat phase II foods like Jello, Soups, Protein shakes, and puddings. Hope you feel better soon!!
  9. I'm not quite 4 weeks out and this sounds delicious! Thanks!!
  10. Mashed potatoes with gravy was my first "real food." Then I had deviled eggs...heaven!
  11. My husband was with me the first day, but I didn't need him after that. I was pretty much drugged and slept most fo the day anyway.
  12. I had trouble too....squat on the floor in the bathroom with a cup under you. Just stay there til you get a little drop, then keep repeating. Eventually I went, it just took a couple of hours of doing this back and forth. It sucked! Sorry you are having trouble too!
  13. Hey Kelly, when I was pregnant, I had this happen a lot. They hurt!! I discovered that I was low in magnesium, and started eating avocados...totally helped! Also, I found out that if I ate too much lunch meat I would also get them...I think it's something to do with the nitrites in the meat. If I ate Subway, I got leg cramps. I still do. Try the avocado, and good luck!!
  14. Hey there, So I met with my surgeon today, had another upper G.I. and no leak. He said it's still swollen and showed the pictures of the liquid going into my new tummy very slowly. Basically, I remain on stage II until next week and then we'll see. I think I'll take smaller sips and see if that helps too
  15. Yeah, it happens mostly when I eat, but the last couple of days it's been happening randomly as well, and even when I drink. It's happening as I write this and all I'm drinking is Water. It's got me a lot freaked out, but I'll know by tomorrow. I'll post back when I get my results, but you should probably call or email your surgeon too. Good luck, and let's jsut hope it's gas or acid! lol
  16. Hi Tamz, I spoke with my surgeon today, and he's having me go in to see him tomorrow. He said he wants to make sure I don't have a leak!!! He doesn't really believe it's a leak, but is going to send me for an upper G.I. again just to make sure. He said it is more than likely acid, but wants to be on the safe side. I will post tomorrow night when I get home and let you know what he says. How are you doing with your pain?
  17. Hi, Yes, I've tried several varieties. They aren't very good, but are better cold in a salad than warm. If you are going to buy them, get the thinner noodle, make sure you follow the instructions to rinse them and boil them, and add a sauce. I don't recommend the Fettuccini....the thicker noodles are tough to eat...ick.
  18. Oh good!! Glad to hear that, it sounded much worse
  19. I had achy, painful back issues for the first week after my surgery. Still not back to normal yet, but much better. However, nothing was rock hard and it was my lower back, not a particular side. Please go see your doctor right away
  20. Hi there, For me, it's dead in the middle of my upper stomach just below my breasts. It's a pressure that comes on similar to a contraction, then it eases and goes away. Then it comes back It happens a lot just after I eat or drink anything.
  21. I completely agree! I have no problem emailing and calling my doctor (I've done both for this issue, but still haven't gotten a response, which is annoying). I'll post as soon as I hear back from him, but I do have an appointment on Monday so he can't ignore me for long...lol I have a feeling it's stomach acid though.
  22. My back started killing me in the hospital, and I blamed it on the lousy beds, but it's still hurting at home, and I came home on the 7th. It's eased up a lot, but still hurts and aches in the lower area. I'm hoping it will adjust itself once I'm able to get a bit more active, and I lose some more weight.
  23. I was sleeved on June 6th and I have the exact same pain you are describing. It hurts especially after I eat something, but it comes and goes at all times during the day and night. Right now it's intense, and I am getting ready to email my doctor. i'll let you know what he says.
  24. I'm in a similar boat. I had my surgery on June 6th, and by yesterday June 10th, I was able to drink down an entire Protein Drink within the hour. I also am not having any trouble drinking, although flavored waters go down easier than plain Water right now. I did have some issues with lactose intolerance, but tried some mashed potatoes and gravy....ohmygosh, it was like a feast.....all two table spoons full...lol I've heard from so many people who've had a lot of issues that I was beginining to think it was abnormal to not have any so far. Thanks for your post! Darlene
