New to this site, surgery date 2/23/10
Since I was just sleeved 2.5 weeks ago, I can so relate to your anxiety. I don't have the magic answer to help calm your fears. However, I can tell you to talk with your surgeon - explain your fears, have him walk you through the procedure - what you can expect and what not to expect (so you know to ask for assistance if you need it), also be sure to talk to your anesthesiologist when you meet him/her. Funny story - I was scared to death of general anesthesia. But, when I met my anesthesiologist, all I could think of was "Wow! He's handsome & has a great smile". I can't be sure, but I think I have a memory of telling him how handsome he was when he put me under! Keep us updated on your progress. If you need support the next 2 weeks, just come out here. We're all here for you.

Sleeved 2/5/10
Thanks for putting this out here. I don't go into the blogs much, so I was glad to know that it is out there.

Diet Soda
I was exactly the same, but my poison was Diet Pepsi which soon changed to Pepsi Max (gotta love all that caffeine). I could chug 6 or more 20oz bottles a day. Talk about a lot of money spent! When I decided to have surgery, I knew it was goodbye to this habit. I had tried going cold turkey before & the caffeine withdrawal (aka HEADACHE) was unbelievable. This time, I slowly weaned off - dropping 1 each week for a while until I had my last one on 1/15/2010 (12 days before surgery). I still have my empty Diet Pepsi bottle at my desk as a reminder. I can honestly say, I did not have any withdrawal by doing a slow reduction. And, if giving up something like that would help me change my life, it is well worth it. We'll be here for you. Just post if you are tempted or have any questions. You'll find this is a great forum.

Finding the time to stop
I'm on purees right now and still trying to find the right place to stop eating. It seems like I go from OK to Stuffed in one bite. I'm trying to eat slowly and thoughfully. Any advice?

Tell me this lasts!!!
It's amazing isn't it?!?!?!?!? I am allowed 6 small meals a day on my current food phase. I never get in that last "meal" in each day - and pre-surgery I was always a late night snacker.

Work
I returned 1 week post-op and am working 1/2 days until week 3.

Concerned - should I be?
My doctor used a 36 ... however, I don't think there's much difference in a 32 and 36. Tiff posted a visual out here a few weeks ago that I'm sure you could find in the search mode.

Need some positive energy, cause I'm really starting to regret this decision :(
Hopefully someone will respond soon. Keep us posted on your progress and your surgeon's advice.

Need some positive energy, cause I'm really starting to regret this decision :(
I am not having any of these issues. In fact, since I'm just on purees, I am concerned about restriction and if there will be enough. Bella is right, you should contact your surgeon - 1 teaspoon isn't good!

Yoplait now makes Greek yogurt
I just discovered this too. I can only eat about 1/2 of a container (if that) at a time so it lasts 2 meals! I was surprised at how good it tastes with such low carbohydrates. YUMMY!!!! :001_unsure:

Home from Mexicali
The experiences with being cold is very odd to me. LuvMeBunches and I were warm - we kept the thermstat very low. I guess we're just a "little different".

Is anyone on antidepressant medication since the surgery?
Lan - I somehow missed this post yesterday. I am so happy and relieved for you. Prayers have been going up and it looks like help has come down. As Tiff said, "Praise Jesus".

What are your favorite snacks
My doctor doesn't want me to snack either, but says that I can "occaisionally" on high-protein only snacks. My nut, doesn't think 3 meals a day is really possible since we eat so little at a meal. I'm not to the "regular food" stage yet, so I don't know how I'm going to react. But, if I decide to have a snack of protein, I'm not going to beat myself up over it. I got the sleeve to eat (and look) like a thin person. Real people snack sometimes ...

Concerned - should I be?
I keep hearing people talk about sipping and taking a long time to get in their liquids. While I'm not chugging a 16 oz glass of Water, I can get it down pretty quickly. Maybe in like 15-20 minutes if I really try. I'm grateful for not having the pain, but wonder if that's going to be bad for me in the future. I did have pureed chili the other night - boy, the restriction was unbelievable. 2 oz in ~30 minutes. It felt like I had just finished Thanksgiving dinner with second helpings!!!

I am now 4 days post op!!
Congrats on your surgery and your awesome recovery. I can also take my pills without having to crush (2 I do split).

One Month PostOp...
Congratulations on your accomplishments thus far - way to go!!!! As far as clothes, we all need things to wear and I've found that looking dumpy in big clothes doesn't motivate me very much. I talked to a girl who had the sleeve done 8 months ago. She said that she purchased mix and match items (pants, skirts, blouses that can be worn with either) in the next size down & then changed up her outfits from there. Another good option is a thrift store. You can find some unbelievable deals. Happy Shopping!

Concerned - should I be?
You guys are right, it is a lot better this morning.

Someone please help
I had the same experience, but on the right side. I actually screamed out a couple of times when I tried to get out of bed. Sorry that you are experiencing it, but it does pass. Try pressing a pillow to your stomach when you get up or need to move - it helped me a lot. Were you given any pain meds? Don't be afraid to use them. Feel better soon.

Concerned - should I be?
Thanks Tiff! I know I am paranoid!

Concerned - should I be?
I think I am so worried about complications that I worry about everything ... The last two days - have had a pain in my lower left side just a little over the belly button line (but about 4 inches to the left). It sorta feels muscular, but I am too paranoid to be sure. Anyone else experienced this 12 days post-op?
