Advice for Road Trip
We are making a giant loop from Seattle, to Grand Canyon, to Las Vegas, and back to Seattle. I think there are 10 cars in our group. In Vegas there are usually 500-600 MINI owners. We all drive down the strip on Friday night (3/26) & it is a blast!

Advice for Road Trip
My husband and I are going with several other couples on a road trip tour to the Grand Canyon and ending up in Vegas for a MINI Cooper gathering in late March. (Kids are staying with grandparents - so it's just the 2 of us in the car with friends ahead of us & behind us in their cars.) I am SUPER excited about the trip, but not sure how to prepare food-wise. Any hints for what type of food to take, exercise options, fastfood/restuarant ordering, etc? We will be gone about 10 days. I will be 2 months post-op by the time we leave.

What did you tell your children?
I told my 8 year old that I was having tummy surgery. I told him that it was too big and they were going to fix it to make it like everybody elses. He was a bit concerned & didn't want me to leave (I had surgery out of state), but he did really well. I talked to him while I was gone and he wanted to know if my tummy was doing better yet. The funny part is that he someone thought that once my tummy was smaller that I would come home skinny. I was a big disappointed to him when I returned and looked the same.

Sugar free ice cream
That is so awesome. You definitely have a keeper. That was very sweet, BUT but sugar free. (OK, I like to pretend that I am funny. But, I know I'm not! )

I have a date!!!
Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your date. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. I'm still new so I may not have all the answers, but I'm sure the long-time-sleevers will be able to help.

My first adventure eating out!
After seeing how little I could eat at our Valentine's dinner last night, my husband agreed that we should start sharing dinners. He does not need to lose weight, but agreed that he does not need the "extra large" portions either. Should be fun when we are in the mood for different things!

Yum!!
Just a word of caution. Before my surgery, I tried out a lot of shakes and found some that were "tolerable" (I will NEVER like any of them). I stocked up on them since I found some good prices. After surgery, they all made me gag so I am unable to use them. In fact, I'm taking the powders to my Sleeve Support Group tomorrow night just to get it out of my house. The only one I'm really able to get down is Optimum Nutrition 100% Any Whey Protein which doesn't have a lot of flavor - maybe a hint of vanilla. I mix it in with warm (not hot or it will clump) Swiss Miss Diet Cocoa. Another option is the unjury chicken Soup. It's a little salty, but I like that. Good luck finding the protein of your choice. I know there are several threads out here that show places to order samples and such.

Flavor. Mushy stage.
Thanks for sharing. I've been getting a little creative in my "spice-up" as well.

Surgery Date Scheduled 3/10/10
Welcome! I was driving about 1 1/2 weeks post-op. I think I could have done it earlier, but was a little timid since I live in a high traffic area. My incisions were still hurting with quick movements & I wasn't sure how I would have dealt with defensive driving manuevers. Best of luck!

Mexico or Bust!
PNW - Best of luck with your surgery. We'll be waiting to hear how you do. I just noticed that you live in the Seattle area - me too. When you get back, let me know if you are interested in a Sleeve Support Group. I go to one that meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month at Stevens Hospital in Edmonds. We would be glad to have you come join us.

Finding the time to stop
Thanks ... I was thinking I would start cutting back on the portions a bit & see if that helps. Nice to see that someone else thinks that too. The "WHAM" is bad! :crying:

FRUSTRATED!!! Am I the only one this is not going to work for?
Enjoy your time in Chicago.

I ate pizza for the first time since surgery..mixed emotions..
Bake it half the time on the given pan. Then slide it off directly onto your baking shelf for the remainder of the time. It will crisp up perfectly.

Finding the time to stop
Tracey - Thanks. My problem is that I do measure everything out. I try to eat slowly and thoughtfully, but then WHAM! I go from one bite being fine to all of the sudden having this horrible full feeling and pain between my shoulder blades.

Monday Morning Weigh In
As many of you know, I was considered a "lightweight" with a BMI of 32.5. However, with today's weigh in, I'm out of the obese category and into overweight. I am wearing a pair of pants that I haven't worn in who knows how long. Yahoo!!!!!

I am still too early for pizza, but I love Papa Murphy's DeLite. I think Oregondaisy eats pizza with her kids on occaision.

Day 6 of Oxycodone 3x a day
What exactly is hurting? Is it the incision sites, muscular, etc? If you aren't sure why the doctor prescribed the medication & dosage, I would suggest calling his office on Monday. Your doctor should be able to explain his prescription and if you still have concerns, discuss alternatives. Good luck!

Finding the time to stop
I tried a scrambled egg for breakfast yesterday. I ate about 1/2 before I started feeling warm, lightheaded and woozy. I've heard that a lot of people have trouble with eggs, but Idon't know why. But nut suggested that I try other foods and then come back to eggs in a week or two.

Happy Happy Happy!!
I had a similiar experience today. The waitress was concerned and asked me twice if I liked the soup. (I think she was worried because she recommended it.) I just smiled and said it was great, but I wasn't as hungry as I thought I was. I LOVED IT!!!!!!!
