I have a question where can you find whey protein? I am still a pre-op person but want to find a protein that I like before surgery. Any help would be appreciated..

Hi Shyone!

I found mine at GNC. Its their house brand and I really love it.

I only have tried vanilla though.

I am thinking of going back for the unflavored tonight as I want to start mixing it with my Soups.

:crying:

Great thank you for your quick responce. I will have to look there to see what flavor I would like.

Just a word of caution. Before my surgery, I tried out a lot of shakes and found some that were "tolerable" (I will NEVER like any of them). I stocked up on them since I found some good prices. After surgery, they all made me gag so I am unable to use them. In fact, I'm taking the powders to my Sleeve Support Group tomorrow night just to get it out of my house.

The only one I'm really able to get down is Optimum Nutrition 100% Any Whey Protein which doesn't have a lot of flavor - maybe a hint of vanilla. I mix it in with warm (not hot or it will clump) Swiss Miss Diet Cocoa.

Another option is the unjury chicken Soup. It's a little salty, but I like that.

Good luck finding the protein of your choice. I know there are several threads out here that show places to order samples and such.

go to the food section of this board and look for a thread called places to order samples. I would not get a big tub of anything.

There are so many people who like something okay before surgery and can't gag it down after surgery.

I really like PVL whey Gourmet that you get from Netrition.com.

I also really like BSN Lean Dessert Fudge pudding. I get that at vitacost.com

You need to try samples first though!

You can find it at GNC (but they are very expensive) or at costco, or at Sam's Club, also at Walmart. . . much more reasonable priced. . . .be warned though, what you may like now, you may not like after your surgery. . I would wait til you have your surgery, you can't really have the Protein shakes right off anyhow so just hold off for now. . . just a suggestion

Thank you for the great advise. You are right because right now I am pre-op and what I like or eat now I may not be able to eat after surgery. I sure don't want to waist money on a ton of tubs of protein that I will end up throwing away or giving away. Again thank you for the adivse.

Hey Mini-Me,

Before you get rid of all that Protein powder, you might want to try out Eggface's site and try to use them in recipes like she does. Heck, she uses them to make protein ice cream, cakes, Cookies, all sorts of things.

If you like to cook you might get some real innovative ideas to use up your investment! Also, I stored mine in the fridge, not sure it made a difference in keeping it fresh but I figured it couldn't hurt.

Not sure if this is where I should post this question or not but here it goes I was wondering what type of food processer to buy that will chop meat into mush? Also, are there any other suggestions on what equipment I may need post-op?
