  1. Just a thought... the next time try each ingredient by them selves, I am betting it was the corn or dressing. Not the lettuce, cheese or egg. It's kind of like a baby tummy. We start off with 1 ingredient then we know what the tummy likes and doesnt like. I would take a few bites of romaine with something I know my tummy likes and does well with (maybe lunch meat) and see how it goes. Then do the same with all ingredients. Hope that helps. I am sure that after a while salads will be just fine.
  2. The only "NEVER"s I was given were straws, soda or carbonated drinks, and coconut. That being said...I have heard of many who use straws, drink soda and eat coconut on this site. I do not eat much pasta it just doesnt feel good going down. I eat toast but also can tolerate bread that is not to dense. The sandwich thins are good but it takes a log time for me to eat. I have not tried popcorn. I have not tried sweets or cakes. (Except a sugar free cake for my birthday). One of the main reasons I chose this surgery over the others is the freedom that you get AFTER you get to your goal weight. I am chosing to eat healthy and for now I am staying away from junk food.
  3. Yes pork is extrememly hard to digest! I have had several episodes of colitis and my dr told me to avoid pork all together. Even if you have been cleared to eat anything...take it easy pizza is dense and greasy and packed full of fat, carbs and calories. I say add calories and carbs with healthy foods like avacado and pita chips or Protein bars not junk food. Hope you feel better soon.
  4. You are amazing! My life goal is a marathon. Ran my first 5K was on 9/11. I think I might get off the computer and go run now:)
  5. I ate mashed potatoes at kfc (only a few spoon fulls). When my family ate out I took a yogurt with me or I stopped and bought a pre made protein shake. It worked for me because we have 3 small kids and I usually dont sit and enjoy a leisurely meal anyway. Good luck to you. If you dont think you can keep from eating things you shouldnt then I say stay home. I just tried to remember that it is only a short time and food is only for nutrients not enjoyment.
  6. I would have never guessed that these two picture were of the same person and only a year apart! You have done amazing and I have no doubt you will get to your next goal easily.
  7. I asked all those questions. You should ask them no matter how many responses you get becauase the doctors are so different. I started losing my hair during my 3rd month and it was like I was have Chemo or something. Scary! It has just slowed down at about 9 months and I am totally socked I am not bald. I dont even have bald spots (I made my hubby check frequently). I think I even see some regrowth. My Dr. said it is normal hang on it WILL stop. I started taking a GNC supplement called B-Beautiful I am not really sure it is doing anything but its been 2 months and my hair isnt falling out any more at all. Also I was told to stop using Panteen shampoo and that made a big difference on the amount of hair falling out. I was also given a card for my wallet and told not to get a bracelet it was not needed. Flu shot- you should be good to go but I would ask what they recommend. I had one last year only weeks before my surgery as per my surgeon. Blessings,
  8. Oh I thought the first post with the before and after was the greatest than I read you got the dress for $8 and I love it! Congratulations to you!
  9. This is just so wrong...I am praying that everything works out for you!
  10. I remember the day that exact same thing happened to me! Way to go girl:)
  11. All I can add to all this...Tiffy said it all. I used her advice and lost all the weight I wanted and with in 5 months! Carb is a carb! I ate mostly meat. Sometimes added a bite or two of veggies until I hit goal.
  12. I mostly walked. Went from just a few minutes a day to 3 miles. I tried to walk atleast 3 days a week mostly 5 days. When I got to 6 weeks out I tried running. But to be completly honestly I didnt do much else.
  13. As soon as I was off pain meds I could drive. I stopped taking pain meds on day 4. You may not feel up to it until a week or two out but dr. said I could when I felt up to it. He reminded me it was against the law to drive on pain meds. Hope that helps!
  14. Yeap! Same thing happened to me. They sent me home witht milk of magnesia but that just was too hard on my stomach. I literally ran to the bathroom after 20 mins and spent the entire night there. I didnt have consistant BM's for a couple months after surgery. After not having any luck with colace I tried Mirlax. That was the most gentle. I only used it if I went a few days with out going. It all worked itself out about 4 months. Hope that helps.
  15. The change in your clothes means you are doing the right things! Keep it up and good for you for staying off the scale. It really played tricks on me too. Keep us posted!
  16. Congratulations to you! You will be posting those goal pictures before you know it.
  17. You will feel it just eat slow...wait a few seconds before taking the next bite. When you progress you can add cream cheese to the middle of turkey..yummy. FYI- I couldn't eat sliced deli meat until about 5 weeks out...You may want to hold off on buying it until you are ready to move to that stage of your program.
  18. 1 cup Peanut Butter (microwave to melt) 1 cup oats 1 scoop Protein powder 5 packets splenda Stir together, form into balls and cool in refrigerator I use chocolate protein and they taste SO yummy! The recpie is listed at Peanutbutter Ball recpie.
  19. I dont want anyone to freak out after reading my post but I wish I had been a little more prepared with hair loss as I was... My program warned me that some people lost hair and if it got bad they could recommend a supplement. But I thought...oh i have really thick hair no big deal. I honestly lost a lot of hair on a regular basis (kind of like shedding in the summer kind of thing) I started losing my hair at around 3 months but at about 4 months I was losing it in handfulls. I was scared to run my hands through my hair during my shower and I was scared to brush my hair. I am still losing my hair at 10 months out but not as much. Now the biggest problem is that the texture of my hair has changed completly. I started taking a supplement about 1 month ago but havent noticed any change. I have found some shampoos make it worse. I am hoping that I will begin to see regrowth soon. I have always had naturally thick curly curly hair. I am not sure what I have now. This has been the most frustrating part of my entire journey. But I would rather wear a wig for the rest of my LONG HEALTHY life than die a young lady with beautiful hair.
  20. My favorite food in the entire world is turkey meatballs...I heat 3 up in the microwave for 1 min. add 4 tblsp of speg. sauce and re heat for 30 seconds. Yummy Yummy! Also try peanutbutter balls listed on this site...If you love pb you will love these. When I get sick of eating lunch meat alone (I am 10 months out so it depends on where you are) I add lettuce to the outside. I make turkey bacon and wheat pancakes 1 time a week and save the left over bacon for a quick morning Protein. It microwaves ok if you dont overcook it. Hope this helps!!
  21. I agree with what has been said...The hormones that are released as your body uses the stored fat can make you menstrual cycle go crazy. I also agree that medicaiton and stress from surgery can cause problems. I would like to add that if you bleed much longer (more than a couple of days with out lightening up) you should contact your doctor. 1st your surgeon and then you GYN. It won't hurt to talk to them about this. Hope things settle down soon:)
