  1. Any body tried these yet? Found them on GNC's website today...curious if they are any good.
  2. You're so right! Although my surgeon and program took great care of me and did a great deal to educate me on all the changes that would come my way, they had never had the surgery and they had no idea what the path would be like...they only had the information their patients had passed on to them. There is nothing better than asking some one who has been through the exact same thing a question and getting an honest answer.
  3. And you have been there for so many too! Thanks for all you advice and encouragment along my journey:)
  4. Your doing great...Congrats. Remember...just because you can eat it doesnt mean you should...just focus on the healthy foods and you will be at goal in NO time. I'll be looking for the post you make when you get to goal in a few months!
  5. my questions were more like...how long will my surgery take? how will I feel when I come to? how long until I see my husband? what do I need when i get home? These questions had been answered by our classes before but I wanted to hear it from the doctor.
  6. Yes, at the time of my surgery my kids were 9,3, and 18months. We told our oldest everything. He asked questions and even saw pictures because he asked. We told our 3 year old the doctor was going to make mommy's stomach smaller so I could be healthy and not over weight. We just gave them the basics and then answered all their questions. Honesty is always best in my opinion and it allowed our children to open up and tell us what they were nervous about. They have continued to ask questions along my journey and it is impossible to hide the life changes that have taken place in me and in our family. I think that this can be a life lesson that I can share with them so they do not head down my path in their life. We ran a 5K as a family on 9/11 and they all celebrated with me!
  7. I have to tell you that it didnt really help my weight loss to walk. I did it to help me be an all around healthy person. I am working on being a runner now. But back during my losing I would walk 4-6 times a week for 30mins to an hour (1 mile to 3). But right out of the hospital I found walking really helped me feel better. It helped with the pain and kept me from being lazing I told myself I had to walk to heal right and prevent blood clots.
  8. Welcome this side of things...its a down hill ride now. Just keep walking and sipping and watch the scale drop:)
  9. Tiff~ Thank you so much for sharing the special moments with us. She is so precious! Congratulations to your entire family!
  10. I didnt get the fluids thing down pat until 6 months out but you gotta just keep trying, mix it up try decaf iced tea, crystal light, special k2o, koolaid mixed with splenda, G2, you getkeep trying till you get there. Everyday it is a new start to get in your fluids. You are doing great!
  11. Since my goal was good health I honestly just wanted a normail BMI so NO doctor could ever tell me I needed to lose weight again:) Everyone is right though everyones body is different and you may find you want to lose less or more later.
  12. You are awesome! Congratulations to you.
  13. I agree you need to talk to your doctor...I would suggest you keep a little journal before you go see them too. Write down what you eat and when it hurts and how long it lasts.
  14. Yep this is the hard stuff you have to deal with now so that you will be on track to maintain weight loss long into the furture. Mtngal is SO right! You must learn to look at food differently because one day you may feel hunger again. You want to begin seeing it only as nutrition. You may also want to avoid resturants for a while longer...remember this is only temporary you will be able to go back to all those places and make great food choices and enjoy your family time again.
  15. Isn't that the truth...life is good when you weight isnt dragging you down! You are doing great!
  16. Just want to update. I went to a real salon for the first time in many years and the stylist showed me all the new growth on my head!!!! She trimmed off a lot of damaged hair and I started using a leave in conditioner to help. There is hope at the end of the rainbow everyone just hang on!
  17. I took Prilosec for the first few weeks they instructed me to open capsule and poor contents on my tongue and swallow with a small amount of Fluid...what ever kind I want. I ended up switching to Nexium about 3 months out and I still open capsules. I feel like it works much faster this way. Saying a prayer things get better soon.
  18. I heard the exact same things from people around me. They were concerned for my kids (I have 3 small ones). Lots of people will give you the advise " you need to do this for you or you need to do what is best for you" this is something you DONT just do for yourself. You do this for the ones you want to see for years to come. You have this surgery because you dont want those kids to watch you slowly eat yourself to a long miserable death. That is just how I looked at the risk of surgery. The risk of death because of weight related illness was too great! We decided, after hearing a few negative comments, we would only tell people who out right asked. Out side of our family of course. I dont really feel comfortable lying anyway.
  19. Happy Anniversary to you and you look great! That's something to celebrate.
  20. My doctor only uses the drain during surgery and if everything goes well he takes it out before you leave the operating room.

  22. I eat one everyday. I get them from GNC and I buy a ton when they are on sale. I get them when they are buy one get one free (like once a month or every other month) and if you buy their gold card you get further discounts on them. Stock up when they are on sale. Also, GNC emails me coupons everyday and I dont have to print them just bring in my phone with the email on it and show it to them. I always ask if the bars are on sale even when there is no sign several times they have given me a sale price when no sale was advertized. Love GNC because they are so great to work with. Last month I bought two boxes for less than the price of one.
  23. Walk walk walk try not to sit around that only makes it worse.
  24. Happy Anniversary! Congratulations on you wonderful success and amazing vacation. It was wonderful to hear from some one so far out. Please dont disappear completely it is so nice to hear longer success stories!
