  1. I take 3 viactiv plus D everyday. I also take a flinstone in the am and pm and my numbers have been perfect since surgery. My advice for protein is GNC's 100% Whey Gold Standard I like the delicious strawberry and the cookies and cream...but I suggest that you shop some place that allows you to return what you dont like. Protein is not cheap so if you drop $30 on it you should like it or return it. GNC allows you to return anything you dont like. They have great deals online and they send me coupons almost weekly. You dont even have to print them just show it to them on your smart phone when you check out.
  2. I only had heart burn an handful of times in my life (while prego). I do not have a hernia and didnt have one repaired during surgery...nonetheless, now I have acid reflux. Prilosec didnt work for me (i was sent home with it for first 4 weeks). I now take nexium 2xs a day. The feeling of choking would wake me up at night I had to sit up and wait for it to pass...horrible feeling. I agree you should ask for a script!
  3. It wasnt as hard as I thought it would be. I just kept reminding myself. After surgery I didnt want to put anything in my mouth, I wasnt hungry or thirsty. But I just kept reminding myself to sip, sip, sip and I did it. I used the timer on my phone to teach myself 30 mins before eating stop drinking and 30 minutes after eating. It took some relearning, some times I was counting down the minutes so i could sip something but usually I would get busy doing something and before I knew it was time to drink. Smart phones sure are handy things and always with me:) Hope that helps...
  4. Do you have a nutritionist? I was given a sample menu for week 4-6 that had things like, cream of wheat, oatmeal, maltomeal, cottage cheese, apple sauce, refried Beans, shredded cheddar cheese, sugar free yogurt, sugar free Gelatin, navy beans, pureed fruit, mashed potatoes, pureed chicken, pureed turkey, pureed sweet potatoes, and pureed green beans, puredd cooked carrots and sugar free puddings. By week 6 I was really sick of these foods but then I got to move up to the next menu. You really need to push the Water. I used the timer on my phone and set it the minute I ate...when it went off 30 min. later I start drinking. Sip all day long...I felt dizy a lot the first few months until I was able to start drinking 64 ounces a day. It takes work to get to that amount. I still have to work at everyday but I feel so much better when I do... Lots of people have talked about stalls...are you staying with in the guidelines with Protein, calories and carbs? If so then you will lose. I know you will see the loss. It took a while for me too. But the day I saw it was a great day and it is still getting used to the new me and I have been there for months now. I can't help you any with blood sugar issues sorry no experience...feel free to ask me any other questions.
  5. You got it...love to share what works for me...always hoping it will work for others too.
  6. I was sent home from hospital with Milk of Mag...works but I would have this terrible gurgling and then explosive visits to the bathroom so I asked if I could us mirlax instead and it worked and was was more gentle. Things got better at around 4 months...Havent need to take anything since then. Hang in there it will get better.
  7. I was told 6 months too!
  8. Read that twice and all I got was...wa wa wa wa site didnt work right...wa wa wa wa ...I'll help:) You are sweet to offer help and I think it is great to have smarty pants around when things like this happen!
  9. Ok...so I saw the difference in every single picture but the last one....WHOLEY MOLEY!!! You are looking great!
  10. Oh my this must be extremely disappointing! I can't imagine how I would feel in your shoes. Althought I have never heard of seeing a endocrinologiest my opinion is do what ever it takes. I hope some other speak up and give your advice. I am curious about your original diet (not the new one with 6 tortillas and an avocado). I would like to see if your initial diet was close to mine. Right out of surgery my goals were 70 grams of protein, 30 grams of carbs, less than 5 grams of fat per serving, 300-400 calories a day. I did up that around 4 months to 600 calories and then until I hit goal I tried to work in those daily amounts. Please keep posting...I am concerned for you.
  11. I lost 20 plus pound during pre-op and by the time I had surgery my periods were regular and they have come every single month since. Less facial hair even taking a supplement for my hair loss. Started to really notice a difference around 5 months. I havent heard of the dandruff either but I wouldnt be surprised....I consider myself cured of PCOS...a wonderful benifit of the sleeve.
  12. I think for many of us this is VERY common before surgery. I felt this way and the strange thing was that I was so calm the morning of surgery. I spent a ton of time praying about my decision and then just tried to leave it in God's hands. Take a deep breath and spend some sweet time with your son.
  13. These were some of my favorite along the way too...on to smaller and better (instead of bigger and better)!
  14. Love it!! I want to be a runner...I try (well I sorta try) I need to try harder. I ran my first 5K in Sept and havent run much since. I want to set a goal for this year in miles...Not sure what it will be but I want to eventually work up to a marathon.
  15. I am one year out and it makes me physically sick if I drink to soon after eating. And it really depends on the food...salad goes through quicker than lets say a dense protein like steak or chicken or ground beef. I had 1 egg and 1 slice of bacon and 1 piece of toast for dinner tonight and I was full. I always eat my protein first. I remember when I first added eggs to my menu after surgery i was so excited I cooked 3 scrambled eggs and then laughed because I knew there was no way I could eat all that!
  16. I had no idea what size I would need to buy and so I looked at the sizing chart on the back and it said I should wear a size "B" pantyhose, not Q, not 1x, 2x, etc... Wow, talk about an amazing feeling!!! I almost cried when I bought my first pair of post goal pany hose...I know exactly what you mean! Great job you are doing so wonderfully. Cant wait to read your GOAL post in a few short weeks.
  17. First I want to say.....Praise the Lord that you got someone to look at it and listen to you and now you are on meds and healing... Then I want to just say how wonderful it was that you let us all know what was going on. I am sure someone in you exact situation will read this and get their incision checked out. Thanks for keeping us all informed!!! Praying for a very quick recovery.
  18. I use fat secret on my android phone...I can scan the ingredients and save them to my daily journal. It also saves it as recently eaten food for next time. Its quick and easy for me. I love the scan feature. Anything with a bar code:) It also has a lot ingredients already stored in a data base.
  19. Sounds really yummy...I had to settle for sugar free apple cider for tonight. Thanks for sharing!
  20. Dont give up! Keep searching for other options...You know I was going to have a different wls and found out because of the surgeon I chose I would need to come up with a big chunk of cash...I almost gave up but I kept praying and God opened another door for me and I am so blessed to have had the sleeve. I will say a prayer that you will find a way to take care of your health one way or another. Blesssings to you.
  21. You can do it ! I believe in you ..(sounds corney but true) you can make your sleeve work for you..back to protein, protein... protein. Write every single thing you eat down or save it on a phone app (I love fat secret). work on your fluids andexercising and you wont have time to want those snacks.
  22. Sonja- You are doing wonderfully! How can anyone miss the changes!!!!!!
  23. I am one year out and just had my first stomach bug since being sleeved. It totally kicked my butt. I almost passed out at one point, sure from lack of fluids. Two of my kids had the bug too but they didn't get as sick as I did... SO I am wondering, did it hit me so hard because I am sporting a tiny stomach? Anyone?
