  1. Look at all us Dr. Gallus fans!!! I agree I think this is one of the best things I have ever done for my self and the program at NMC-SD was wonderful! I wonder if Dr. Gallus knows he has a fan club?
  2. Totally agree with others...I agree that those who are not successful are less likely to post on here and if you read the posts it seems everyone is getting to their goal. I have noticed that for most (but not all) if you follow your doctors diet and make a lifelong change to the way you live you will lose all your weight.
  3. Had serious issues with constipation...I used the colace they gave me at the hospital but it didnt work. I started to use Mirlax (not recommended by doctor becuase he thought natural was better) but it worked after about a week of using it. Then I only used it when I HAD to. Around 3 months out I finally got into "regular" pattern. It was a long process for me but it will work out in the end. Good Luck to you.
  4. No laughing from...when I was new here I asked the same questions:) NON scale VICTORY.
  5. IV FLUIDS...hang in there it will come off. STAY OFF THE SCALE for at least 2 days. I found that I needed to only weigh 1 time a week. I know it is hard at first but it really kept me sane. You will be posting big losses in NO time.
  6. Sorry this has been so hard...I am saying a prayer that you get a call very soon and everything is right on schedule.
  7. I was told to eat tuna during mushie stage. I was also on mushies for four weeks and I did get sick of them but I think it helped me decide that my life no longer revolved around food.( and I learned it doesnt matter what I eat it is all about nutrition and feeding my body what it needs not what my head thinks would taste food.) She also said to have applesauce with no added sugar, chicken mashed up like tuna with a little ff mayo.Refried beans definatly got me through that stage I added a pinch of cheese melted on top. Don't added to much just a pinch.
  8. The jeans look great. Enjoy how it feels when you work hard and make the right choices! My favorite part of the pictures is your shirt. GO STL Cards!!!!
  9. So excited for you and this blessed baby! May God bless your family as you celebrate this new life!
  10. I pray that God will fill you with peace during this time of healing and that He would allow you and the children to live a happy and peaceful life full of blessings. Blessings, Annette
  11. You are almost there! Keep the same attitude after surgery-do EVERYTHING the doctor and Nutritionist tell you to do and you will do well! Congrats...you are on your way!
  12. I have always hated jeans and the painful red mark they made on my stomach after I wore them for any long period of time. Now I love jeans...one of my favorite things about being a skinny person:) Congrats to you!
  13. So glad you shared! Congratulations to your family for all the new in your life.
  14. Yay! So glad everything is ok and you are back on track.
  15. I was on clear liquids at two weeks...broth, protein mixed with water, water, gatorade, jello, popsicles all sugar free.
  16. I am cold ALL the time now. We live in the desert and it has been very hot this summer. I have spent most of the summer with a sweeter on. Hope you figure out what's going on.
  17. I don’t think that a doctor or any other health care provider can truly understand the struggles some obese men and women have unless they have been in their shoes. For ten years I struggled to find a healthcare professional who was even the slightest bit interested in listening to my struggle and attempts and who didn’t immediately label me lazy and compulsive the second they saw my overweight body. I faced doctor after doctor for a variety of health concerns ranging from infertility to headaches and the common solution was to lose weight. They didn’t listen to the attempts I had made. They didn’t believe the effort I put in. I believe that having a doctor who had struggled in the same ways I had and found something that truly worked would have been a life changing meeting! I have never been one to keep my surgery a secret. I don’t tell people unless they come out and ask; but I have feel that I have been giving an opportunity that some out there in my same shoes may not even know about. I feel they are worth sharing my experience with. I feel that if I can help anyone down this journey than they could help someone else too. Maybe one day all insurance companies will agree that this is a cure for obesity and offer the solution to many more. Thank you for sharing with this girl. You told her that she is worth finding asolution and that a solution exists.
  18. Love that you took a picture in the same suit. You look fantastic! Congratulations to you:)
  19. I cook 3 meals a day for 3 kids and my husband. I started cooking again at 1 week out. I really havent changed the way I cook. We dont have a lot of starches but I had PCOS pre op so I was careful then too. Portions have changed but we have ALWAYS stressed to the kids you should stop at full not when their plate is clean. Hope this helps. I do make them things I do not eat...but since surgery I have little to NO desire for them anyway so it isnt a problem.
  20. For my surgeon and hospital it was to be a 2-3 day stay. I stayed for 3 because the doctor didnt want me to drive the 3 hours home until he was sure I was fine.
  21. I think I read some where that this could be from the anesthesia. Hope it stops soon. Yuck!
  22. I found it very difficult to get in more than 34-36 ounces of water or any fluids for the first few months. I am a stay home mom of three and I had a 18month old when i had surgery. Other than lifting her or my 3 year old son I went back to doing everything including cleaning tubs and showers at about 1 week out. I was cooking for my family at about 5 days out. Keep us posted on how your doing! Good luck to you and your wife.
  23. I have been avoiding buying pjs since surgery. I have gone from a size 20 to a size 4-6 depending on brand. So obviously I really needed pjs but I always decided to buy shirts or dresses or even pants instead:) But last night I got 9 pairs of pjs for 50 bucks...they were worth more than $240.! I have never had such expensive pjs in my life! I am going to sleep great tonight:)
  24. Thank you so much for checking back in with us! You look great and SOOOOO happy!
