  1. my pre op diet consists of protein shakes for breakfast and lunch and 6-8oz protein and veggies for dinner..not bad but no diet is fun! they said you have to lose 10-20 pounds before surgery or they wont do it, something about they dont want you insides to be as fatty? i dont know...i just know i have to lose 10 pounds, but it should be easy to do that on such a strict diet.
  2. my pre op diet starts tomorrow not looking forward to it but on the bright said that means on 14 days until surgery! woo hoo
  3. mick-thank you for your encouragement. choselife-yes i am going to true results in houston! my doctor is dr hollis, i havent even met him yet though . my pre op appointment is June 1 and i think he was the doctor at the seminar which if so, he was nice. my patient advocate which i LOVE is cindy, she really has been so great for me and has made me feel a lot better about the whole process! did you go to true results, and if so who did you have? im a little over 300 right now. congrats on losing so much! it really encourages me to read all the success stories, i really hope i can follow in your footsteps! hopefully-thank you that makes me feel better about it! congrats to your weight loss, thats so great!
  4. wow! i hope ill be saying the same next year, congrats!
  5. Well I have 16 days until my surgery date which is June 10, 2011! I am sooo excited but the anxiety freak inside my head still keeps freaking me out. I worry that something will happen and it will get pushed back or something! I don't even think its really hit me yet either. I am 22 years old and live in Houston, Texas. I started thinking about the lapband after i finished cosmetology school in June of 2010, but never thought of it as something that i would actually do. Trying to find a job in an industry that is all about beauty when you feel like an ugly fat cow is not easy. I have always been the girl with the pretty face, but I always took that as she has a pretty face but.... which doesnt make me feel any better about it. My whole life has been about obsessing over my weight. It has taken away so much from me. I would love to go to the river with all my friends and drink beer all day and get tan, but there is NO way in hell that i would EVER get in a bathing suit in front of them. I wont even lay out with my mother, who is the least judgemental person on the planet. I havent even told my friends that I am getting this surgery. The only people that know are my mom and dad, and one friend who is 15 years older than me. I don't know why I am so embarressed about it, but I am. I have always been like that when on diets, I never liked talking about them. My best friends to this day are still the same friends that I had in high school. I was always very popular and the fun girl to hang out with, which I think is why I am so uncomfortable telling my friends about this, because they all have the perfect bodies and gorgeous and just wouldn't understand. Everytime i hear one of them talking about going on a diet or need to work out I want to slap them and say you have NO idea what its like to NEED to go on a diet. This surgery really will change my life. There are so many things that I want to do that I can't do now because of being fat. I want to go out to eat without wondering if the booth is going to be super small, or if the chairs are going to have arms and I have to squeeze in it. or go outside and sweat to death in the Texas heat because I refuse to wear anything to show skin because im so modist because I'm fat. I know this is rambling on and going from one place to the other, but it feels good to just write it all out, even if noone reads it.
  6. Hi befree! I am going through True Results in Houston as well and I can tell you they have been absolutley AMAZING. They really care and help you with everything and make you feel SO comfortable, which with me is big because I didnt go to a doctor since 2007 because it makes me so uncomfortable. If you are paying out of pocket, you basically go to the seminar, do the blood work and ekg, and any other test they think you might need if they have a concern and then you are scheduled. Its quick!
  7. I am 22 as well and like you and more2love, i have also been overweight my entire life. my junior and senior year of high school i got down to about 150 bbut for all the wrong reasons. im now bigger than ive ever been and i am getting banded on june 10th, and i still am in shock that this is finally happening. i have had so many mixed emotions about the whole thing. the only people that know are my parents (who are the BEST because they are paying for everything and are totally supporting me through this) and one good friend who is also hoping to get the lapband. my best friends dont know, my own brother doesnt even know! i dont know why i am so secretive about it but as of now its kind of embarressing for me. i just cant imagine how different my life is going to be and i am so looking forward to it. i want to do the things that normal 22 year olds get to do! i want to lay out and drink margaritas, go ride roller coasters, freaking FLY somewhere without the anxiety of be stuffed in a seat for hours, go out to resturants without googling them first to see if the chairs are itty bitty with arms that my fat butt has to squeeze in, to go shopping at normal stores, to no longer be just the girl with the pretty face! people who arent overweight will just never understand all the extra anxietys and challenges we go through, and im ready to put them all in my past! id love to keep in touch with you guys! Lauren Houston, TX
  8. hey girls! im getting banded june 10th, and would love to have people to compare and share our journeys! isnt this exciting!??!?!
  9. wow congrats to all of you that have lost so much! i really hope i have as much success as you guys! im getting banded june 10th and i still dont think it has hit me yet! i cant wait to start living life and quit watching everyone else from the sidelines!
  10. Good luck to you as well! Feel free to message me if you ever have anymore questions, I know I would always ask people a million questions in the waiting room.

  12. why wont aetna cover it? i have aetna and they are covering 80%
  13. I am being banded at true results in houston on June 10th! the more band buddies, the better!
  14. Hey Kittyforet! I am going through True Results in Houston as well!! I am getting banded June 10th and I couldnt be happier!! I LOVED True Results...Cindy my patient advocate has been a life saver! I start my pre-op diet on Friday and it is stressing me out, but I can do ANYTHING for 2 weeks right? What Protein shakes have you found that are good??
  15. I have Aetna and i was worried about the same thing! I would NEVER go to the doctor because i was way too embarressed to be weighed in front of anyone. I weigh 300 now and the last time I had been to the doctor was in 2007 when i weighed 245 which put me right at a bmi of 40, did the 3 months of weight loss visits (even though i gained EVERY time) and was approved on friday and am scheduled for surgery june 10th! i am going through True Results in Houston and if you havent found a doctor yet, they really have been so great to me. My patient advocate Cindy is the sweetest lady ever and doesnt bullshit. she has gone above and beyond for me and really wants to do anything and everything she can to get the ball rolling.
  16. Im 22 as well and about 300lbs and will be banded on June 10th! i am SO excited to finally be able to start a new life and actually enjoy things that i havent been able to in FOREVER! Id love to keep in touch with you and share our journey!
