  1. Well today was the day I have been waiting for. I got my first fill this morning and it was such a neat process. I had no idea what to expect and I am sure all doctors are different. I will tell you how my appointment went for those of you waiting for your first fill. First off I was weighed and I was down 3 lbs since the last time I was there 2 weeks ago. Not bad for having ZERO restriction. Also, I have lost 3 inches on my waist so that was also exciting. So from there they took me in to the room where this giant machine was and I had to stand in front of the xray machine and the doc looked at my belly and explained he was going to put the needle in my port and fill the band completely. So he uses freezing spray and puts the needle right in my port as I watched on the screen. I didn't even feel the needle going in thank god! He then has me swallow some barium and I watched as that trickled down my throat and stopped at the band. He then pulls saline out just enough that it trickled through my stoma. That was it. He was able to put in 3cc's today, and said he had left 1cc in my band at surgery. So I have a total of 4 cc's in my band. It was kind of exciting for me being a newbie and not knowing what to expect. So for all of you out there who are nervous about getting your first fill, don't be! It was NO BIG DEAL! I am on liquids today, mushies tomorrow, soft foods the next day and then on to regular food! So the journey finally begins!
  2. I was banded Feb 28th this year and I am looking for people banded on or around that date to share the journey with?? It is so nice to have people to compare stories too and push each other. So if you are interested in being my band buddies send me a message! Good luck everyone!!
  3. Frustrated! Need a fill bad! I have ZERO restriction and feel like nothing hass changed. I go for my first fill this friday. I hope that will help.
  4. I am on regular food now. I am not eating raw veges or steak yet, but basically everything else I am eating. I do try and eat a little all day and at first that was working great. I would have a Atkins shake on the way to work then a yogurt a couple hours later then lunch and another yogurt or something in the afternoon and then dinner. For the most part I am ok doing this and I am not chowing down at dinner, just eating more than a cup of food. Probably between 1 and 2 cups at dinner. I was expecting to eat like a half cup to a cup and be satified. Well it is not cutting it! I guess I just feel like I did before surgery and my weight loss has been at a standstill for the last week so I am wondering when things will feel different. And should I only eat a cup of food even if I am still hungry?
  5. Ok I am 18 days post op and I feel absolutely normal. I have ZERO restriction and I am wondering what people are eating at about this time. No really what you are eating but how much. If I keep my food to a cup or less I am hungry still when I leave the table. So I have just been trying to focus on eating Protein and if I am over indulging it is on protein and mainly dinner cause I go all day white nuckling through and when it comes to dinner I am starving. I really hope it gets better. Otherwise what did I do this for? Should I be measuring my food and only eating a cup or less and just be hungry. I go for my first fill on the 25th, but is one fill really going to do that much when right now I feel like I do not even have a band in me? Also I am having pain or a soreness at my port site. Is that normal? I am a MESS!
  6. My doctor said I can take any pill that is the size of an M&M or smaller just fine. I have been taking Aleve since surgery with no problem.
  7. I was banded on Feb 28th and feel GREAT!! I just had my forst follow up appointment and aside from a little pain at my belly button incision I am doing great. Down 26lbs so far, but 10 were from the 6 month supervised diet then 10 on my 2 week pre op diet and 6lbs lost since surgery. I am now moved to soft foods which is so much better because the thought and even the word pureed makes me want to barf! Ready to start kicking Fat's ass and get some cardio in. Way to go Feb bandsters!! Keep on keepin on!
  8. AWESOME!! I am in thanks for doing this!!
  9. I was banded in 2/28 and I have been ok with my hunger. I think my trick is I eat a little bit all day. Like for example today, I had a Protein shake on my way in to work, then at 9am I had a yogurt, then at 11:45 I had some chicken salad and a sugar free pudding, then at 2:30 I had another yogurt (carrot cake flavor, yum) and then at 3:45 I had another sugar free pudding. In between all that I was chugging Water. I have been sticking to that kind of eating pattern since surgery and I have lost 5lbs since surgery. Believe me I have wanted french fries and ice cream too, but I watch a lap band sugery on youtube.com yesterday and seeing the brutal things that were done inside me I have refrained from eating solid foods because it needs to heal. Try drinking more water or crystal light. I have seen this post many times on this site, so you are not alone. I have heard this is the time you have to white knuckle through it. Remember that tummy of yours was just put through hell and back so be nice to it. Good Luck!!
  10. WOW!! You are a rockstar! Congrats on such a great accomplishment! I was just banded last Monday and hope to lose 100lbs by this time next year or sooner!!!
  11. I just had my surgery on Feb 28th, this past monday and I had the same concern. I will tell you that after surgery you aren't in the mood to eat. Today I am 4 days out and I can tell I am healing fast. My doctor only required me to be on liquids the day of surgery and then move to a puree diet. I have been able to eat ham salad, egg salad, yogurt, soup, etc. The amazing thing is that after 1/2 cup to a cup you are full and satisfied. You still have yourold head playing tricks on you and wanting you to eat more so I suggest you measure your food and keep it at a 1/2 cup total at a sitting or it will not be comfortable!! So far I have been able to stay satisfied and not feel hungrey all the time. You have to make smart choices and it is hard in the puree stage because you can't eat a normal healthy diet. It is wonderful I must say and congrats on your up coming banding!! Time to start feeling good again!
  12. I was banded on Monday and returned to my desk job today. I will say in my dress clothes I was very uncomfortable with my pants and my incisions. I would recommend taking off longer if you are a flight attendant. There is no way you will be ok tugging your luggage around and all the bending and maneuvering you will have to do. Amanda, you will be good having surgery on a monday and returning on Thursday like me. I would recommend one more day though. I wanted to come home at lunch today. Good luck!
  13. I though tthe same thing on a few things I have posted on this site. How can you have hundreds of people read your post and not get one reply is what I kept thinking. Then I move one and just read alot. I was banded 3 days ago and I am back to work today. I have been very tired and sore, but for the most part each day I feel better and better. I have a couple people that I write back and forth to on here that have been banded on the same day or right before me and we support each other in that area. I am happy to be that friend to you as well? Friend me and send me a message if you would like to kick Fat's ass together! I wish you nothing but success!!
  14. Thanks for the advice everyone, especially honk. I just went to lunch with some girlfriends and had some tomato basil soup (which was yummy) and then went to the drugstore and got my chewable vitamins! I did have a couple swigs of coffee at lunch so I hope that gets me through the afternoon. I already and feeling better. Maybe I just needed a vitamin and to eat lunch. Either way thanks for the info!!!
  15. No, shoot, I forgot to get some vitamins. I will get some today. I need something. I am about the break down and have some coffee. Does anyone know why they would say no caffiene?
  16. Ok I was banded this past Monday and I am back to work today. My biggest complaint it I am SO TIRED. Like can't keep my eyes open tired. I know it is because of not having coffee or caffiene. Can someone give me tips? I have to make it through work and right now all I would liek is a corner to go curl up in and take a nap!! Help!!
  17. I just had my surgery this morning! I was on a 2 week liquid diet and I stuck to it mostly. It was my husbands birthday during that time so I emailed my dietitian and asked her if I could go out to dinner with him and eat real food. She told me that if I ate grilled chicken and steamed vegies it wouldn't be the end of the world. Don't worry at least you cheated with good choices .... you will be fine! You will do great!! GOOD LUCK!!!!!
  18. Well it is 1:45pm and I am feeling better. Everything went great this morning. Got to the docs at 7:30 this morning and right on schedule I was wheeled back to the O.R. at 9am. They woke me up about 30 min later and I was in recovery. They told me while they were in there they had to repair a small hernia. So the gas in the belly created a lot of my pain while there. I was up and walking around in about 40 minutes. The walking helped. I was in the car on my way home by 11am!!! It was so fast, they have it down to a science! I got the Lap Band! I still can't believe it! I am not really in pain just uncomfortable. The gas pain went to my lower back and not my shoulder so not sure that is a good thing or bad thing. Liquids only today, then I can start puree foods tomorrow.
  19. I am on my final day of my pre op diet with surgery in the morning and I have lost 12lbs in the last 2 weeks!
  20. Well as I spent the day carrying around and playing with my 10 month old I have not thought much about my surgery tomorrow morning!! I enjoyed 2 diet cokes today and I am weirdly calm about everything. Is that weird? Have to be there at 7:30am tomorrow morning and I am not nervous at all. Is that strange? Shouldn't I be?
  21. I have been on a very low cal MediFast diet for the last 2 weeks which consistet of mainly liquids and lost 12lbs as of today. Surgery is in the morning!
  22. My surgery is tomorrow morning as well and I am very excited! I am to arrive at 7:30am for a 9am surgery. They said I should be on my way home by about 10:30am. Total time being there about 3 hours!! As long as everything stays on schedule that is. It really depends on your doctor. Also are you having yours done at a hospital or surgery center? I am having mine done at a surgery center. My doctor considers lap band patients an out patient procedure. It really is all about what your doctor does and as you read on this site all doctors are different in what they do and require! Good luck tomorrow!!
  23. Me too! Have to be there at 7:30 in the morning for a 9am surgery! I have been on my pre op diet and lost 12 lbs in the last 2 weeks so it is a nice start. Good luck to you tomorrow!!
  24. February 28th is my big day. I am so excited and even more excited to get done with this terrible very low calorie pre op diet I have been on. I am on day 10 of 14 and in the 10 days I have lost 11 lbs!! I need to go to the store and buy some post surgery items. Any suggestions on things I should have on hand after my surgery monday? Food, drugs, etc?
