  1. Yes, I would recommend Dr. Richard Collier: http://www.richardcolliermd.com/
  2. Last meals.... I had to do my last meal before my pre op diet so if you get one be sure and enjoy and say goodbye to over eating for the last time lol! This will be a great decision in your life so don't be scared it will be hard and wonderful all at the same time....when you see the scale moving and more importantly the clothes starting to hang on you just motivates you more! I started this journey wearing a 22 last February and now comfortably wearing a 14 and a 12 in some things! Good luck!
  3. Most if not all bariatric surgeons will have a fluoroscope in their office to fill under. It's basically and X-ray and you drink barium as they watch and fill you under e X-ray they can see the barium going through your band. Ask your doctor if they have one!
  4. Phany... You need to find a doctor first then attend their free seminar to get all the info and you can ask questions about their program and insurance.
  5. I was on medication pre surgery. Like she said above I too had a hernia and that fixed my problem. Day of my surgery I have not had to take any medicine since. Except I had to take some tums one time but that was cause my band was too tight so I had some reflux but it's all good now.
  6. There is a possibility you could have had a tiny slip in you band which caused all the tightness and vomiting. So removing 1 cc could have put it back in proper position. 1cc is a lot when you start toggling around your sweet spot. Get filled under the fluoroscope when you go back in in feb. watch your portions till then!
  7. I didn't drink diet coke for about 4-6 months post op but now I enjoy 1 a day at lunch time....sometimes more and sometimes less. Depends on your doctor. Some out there are very conservative and say no carbonation for life after the band, however having one now and then is fine. You have to be realistic and if having a diet coke every now and then is going to keep you sane then go for it. My dietician said if you can pour it over ice and avoid straws. I have little to no intolerances to foods or beverages though so you have to listen to your body ....we are all different! Good luck!
  8. I'm stuck in Minnesota today so I'll have to weigh in tomorrow! I got a small fill this week so I hope to be down since last Monday I went up, but I truly believe that was water weight only. Hope to be down at least 7 lbs when I weigh in in the morning!!
  9. Oh wow did I have a TERRIBLE week. I checked on Wednesday and I was holding steady at 244 and when I weighed in this morning I was up to 247! UGH!! I feel very bloated today and I think my body is holding water cause I was in the sun Thursday all day and consumed some alcohal this weekend. At least that is what I hope it is. I go foe a fill this week so I hope that will help some. My eliptical machine is calling my name too! lol! Good job for all the losers out there!!!
  10. 32311- Not sure if you are talking to me or Candice but anyway here is my story... My secret is.... maybe a little deceiving. I had to do a 6 month supervised diet for insurance so I started my journey last October at 286lbs and from there I lost about 10 lbs. So I started my 2 week pre op dier around 275 and lost 11 lbs during that. So technically I have lost 19 since surgery. It was all will power till my first fill where I felt restriction for about a week and a half and then not much. Now after my seconf fill I am noticing I have a hard time eating anyting unless I chew chew chew, which is what you are supposed to do so that is good!!! So glad to hear I am not the only one. I was thinking something was wrong for a little bit so it makes me feel better knowing there are also people out there that get this crampy feeling if they over eat!!
  11. Ok, I was banded Feb 28th and I am still trying to get a handle on my eyes bigger than my stomach issue. Lately since my first fill if I eat too much then I get a cramp in my left side. Feels kind of like a cramp you would get from running or something. Anyone else experience this and if so what is it from???
  12. Don't worry about the percocet, you take it as long as you need it! I finished all mine and loved every minute of it. It took the edge off and helped me be comfortable and sleep better too. Every day you will feel better. I had a hernia repair too and I had my surgery on Monday and actually went in to work on Thursday. I was miserable so on Friday I worked from home. By Monday I was much better and felt much more normal but it did seem to take a while to feel completely back to myself. Congrats and good luck! Take it easy and every day will be a better day!!
  13. Too funny! I had the same question! I was banded 2/28 and I asked my nutritionist that question and she said the main reason for no alcohol in the beginning is due to empty calories. Also when people drink they tend to snack. She said a glass of wine occasionally would not kill me but to watch drinking calories. Good thing for me is I only drink vodka an water with lime so it's only 64 calories per oz of vodka. I just wanted to make sure it was not physically harmful to have alcohol, and to answer that question....no! Bottoms up...carefully, lol!
  14. Yes you are fine...drink away! Just wait till a couple weeks go by and you start questioning if there is actually a band in you. At least that was how it was for me till I got my first fill a couple weeks ago. Now I am looking forward to fill number two!! But I truly did not feel like my process had started till I got my first fill, so hang in there and it will get better. Healing will take time so let yourself heal before your worry about weightloss!!!
  15. Nope...my favorite so far is Atkins shakes!
  16. Well I have had some port pain after getting to roudy with my 11 month old son. Like picking him up and down and getting on the floor and back up again to quick all in the Span of a short time. For me it takes a day of rest and all is right in the world again, but boy can that port area get sore after bei g too active.
  17. Wow just based on your ticker you are fairly small to begin with for weightless surgery. When were you banded? I thought the exact same thing when I was banded but now after my first fill I'm feeling better and looking forward to my second fill so it is defiantly a slower process than gastric bypass but it is a process you work at and takes time to change your habits and your life. That is what I keep telling myself anyway...hope it helps!
  18. True, I would eat light though like mushy foods, yogurt etc. I went in the morning and she say to just take it easy with yogurt or cottege cheese for breakfast. It was all good.
  19. Got my first fill last Friday so I finally feel like there is actually a band in me! Progress... lost 2.4lbs! Need to get exercising!
  20. Like she said all doctors plans are different. I was only on liquids for 24 hours after surgery then moved right to pureed foods for 2 weeks, then soft foods for 2 weeks. Best to call your doctor and make sure you are following their plan correctly!!
  21. Your first question is yes! You can be sore on and off for a while. I am over 4 weeks out and just got done being sore around my port. Completely normal!! Question 2... liquids in equals Liquids OUT! Yes normal again! I had my first fill today and been on Clear Liquids and I can concur it happens anytime you go on just liquids. It will get better when you start mushies!! You are doing great!
  22. Why do you want to not get fill's? At my office they say it is pretty typical to need a3-6 fills to achieve the "sweet spot", but everyone is different. My nutritionst said today that one patient she has lost over 100lbs in a year with only 1 fill but that is not typical. My energy level is actually pretty good. You might ty and up your protein intake. I am eating mostly protein and for the first time in a long time I feel like I am getting my swagger back! LOL Just have to put that energy in to some exercise now and I will be good to go!
  23. I can feel a difference. I have had a cup of coffee and I am drinking water now and I am not hungry in the least and I was hungry going in to my appointment so yes I think the swelling has begun and I am all good!! They made me make 3 addtional appointments for 3 more fills. So I go back on April 19th for my second fill. Then 5 weeks after that and then another 6 weeks after that one. I have to say I am finally getting excited about this. I had lost enthusiasm for this the last 2 weeks since it felt like I was just on another diet. Now just have to get busy on the exercising!!!
