Second Day of Pre-op Diet
I am on day 10 of my 14 day pre op diet and I know exactly what you are feeling right now. My big day is on Monday. I will tell you that after day 3 or so you will feel more normal. I was dizzy, crabby, and wanting to kill someone for some food till about that time so it does get better. I am down 11 lbs since last monday so not bad considering the sacrifice. Keep it up, it is all worth it!!!!

I Stopped Smoking for My LB Surgery
I quit smoking almost 2 years ago with Chantix. I truly call it the smokers miracle drug! Anyway, my surgeon will not touch a patient who is smoking. There are a lot of complications that could arise with a smoker and anethesia. Smoking is a choice at this point in my life. I chose every day not to be a smoker. Congrats on quitting smoking and on getting the Lap Band!!!

I am starving
I was given 2 weeks worth of MediFast food. That is basically 4 different Soups (which are mostly broths), powdered eggs, blueberry pancake(worst thing I have ever had), strawberry smoothie, hot chocolate, vanilla shake, and chocolate shake, and Protein Bars. Out of those options I am to chose 5-6 things a day to eat and that is it!

Preop Diet, Not sure if this is right
Hey congrats!! I am also having surgery on the 28th. I am in to week 2 of my pre op diet and I lost 8lbs last week. It is basically a liquid diet. My doctor told me the point behind the diet is to basically thin out your liver. Get all the sugar and fat out of your liver so it is like a smooth pancake will make surgery and recovery a lot easier. Since they go in laproscopic they have to lift the liver to get to the stomach and since we are all overweight I am sure most of our livers are nice and fatty, hence the purpose of the pre op diet. Can you call the doctor and ask to speak to them directly? I would not leave my life in the hands of some duche behind the counter! That being said there are also a lot of people on here that never did a pre op diet and everything turned out just fine. Good luck!!!

February 2011 Bandsters?
Well my Pre-op diet starts tomorrow and consists of MediFast brand foods. Shakes, soups, and not much else. Very low cal and unsatisfying. I am going to be on the for 2 weeks and surgery is scheduled for the 28th! I am so excited but really scared at the same time. It is such a life change that I am freaking out a little but I am so excited to get healthy and be comfortable in my own skin.

Medically Supervised Diet Pre-Bandsters...
Mine went very fast. During the diet I have met with a nutitionist who has taught me how I should be eating after surgery, so all in all I am ahead of the game. I go for my 6th supervised diet on Feb 3rd and I am so excited to start my 2 week pre op diet and get my surgury date!! One thing I found hard during the 6 week diet is I wanted to get going and lose weight. Well there is a fine line on the diet to not lose too much weight (cause you might get denied, or lose to little and get denied) So I started my supervised diet at 286 and I am at 274 with very little trying. Just watching my carbs. Heck I even lost 1 lb over the holidays! So I am so ready to get this party started and really get down to losing some real weight. I must say the supervised diet did go rather quick for me. I hope to be banded at the end of February!

February 2011 Bandsters?
Thanks! I know this will be a great tool for me to get healthy and be more active for my son. I have a 9 month old that I look forward to the day I can keep up with him. I am doing this now so he knows that being over weight is not the right way to live. I want him to know what a fit mother is and be fully engaged in his life.

February 2011 Bandsters?
I finish my 6 supervised diet visit on Feb 3rd and from there I will get my surgery date. My doctor makes you do a 2 week pre-op diet on Medifast. He says the reasoning behind the diet is when you are obese your liver tends to carry a large amount of fat in it which can be dangerous for surgery so a 2 week diet will lessen the fat load in the liver and have a safer surgery. I am hoping to be banded the 3rd or 4th week in February. I started this process last September and I am so ready to get this weight loss journey under way. How quickly do you drop weight after being banded is what I want to know. Liquid diet and puree foods have to make you loose a significant amount right?I am 274 lbs and hope to get to a goal weight of 150. That seems so far out of reach, I was in middle school the last time I saw the 150's!!

New girl
Thanks very much for the feedback, I am so excited to start the journey!

New girl
Hello, my name is Erin and I am waiting to be banded. My insurance required a 6 month supervised diet. I complete my 6th and final supervised diet vist on Feb 3rd and then start the banding process. My doctor requires a 2 week Medifast diet before surgery. Anyone have to do this? He said I should lose 10-20 lbs alone during those 2 weeks before the band. I am very excited to start this journey. I have been overweight all my life, and now it is time for a new start. I am at 275 lbs right now with a goal to get to 145-150. What I wonder though is that a realistic goal with LapBand? I can not remember the last time I was at that weight. Maybe elementary or middle school. I just do not want to set my sights to far and be disappointed. That seems so far out of reach for me to be at 150lbs. Anyone with any advice or input on this goal? Realitic? Timeline? :-) Thanks!
