  1. Really, your body is just getting used to the idea that it just gave up 17 lbs. You will lose again. I never lost every single week. I would plateau for 2-3 weeks, then the next time I got on the scale, I would be down 5 lbs. You'll lose the weight. Try not to worry.
  2. It is definitely a juggling act. It drives me nuts. I take my iron with orange juice cause the pharmacist told me to. He said it needs acid to be absorbed. I have to take one thing or another every 2 hours and it drives me crazy!
  3. Every time I tried to go off my protonix, I feel like I am starving all the time. I don't see any reason to go off of it, but I may try again some day. It's only $10 for the generic, and my pcp prescribes it twice a day, so I get 60 for $10 and I only take it in the morning.
  4. Things I snack on are cocoa dusted almonds in the 100 calorie packs, string cheese, low fat colby jack cheese with about 3 kellogs multi grain garlic and herbs crackers, greek yogurt, veggies and dip, part of an apple with peanut butter on it, a protein bar-oh yeah either mint chocolate or peanut butter chocolate. There are 2 sticks in a pack and I will eat one. They taste like Kit Kat bars only better. yum yum.
  5. Way to go Hope! you had a hard recovery in the beginning and I am so glad that's all behind you. You will be at goal in no time!
  6. Carol I don't have any words of wisdom for you but I can tell you it does get better. I guess I just got used to the size of the portion I could have, and told myself if I still wanted more, I could have a few more bites in an hour. Most of the time, in an hour, I was still so full, I forgot about whatever it was that I wished I could have. I do have Snacks and I don't deny myself to having only a certain amount of calories per day. I eat my Protein first, until I am full, and I have 2 healthy snacks per day, and it works just fine.
  7. Welcome to sleeve talk. We are happy you started posting and eager to share your journey with you!
  8. It was not hard at all to not eat on the post op diet. I had no desire to eat. Most people feel like they have to force the liquids down so they don't get dehydrated. There are still days now where nothing sounds good and I have a Protein drink because I know I need the protein. Today was a day like that.
  9. Thank you so much Donna for keeping us updated. prayers for her continued recovery. She has been through so much!
  10. I got this from obesityhelp.com There is some good information here that I haven't seen in other articles about stalls. Click! Low Carb Diet Tips & Basics - Weight Loss Stalls and Plateaus
  11. You can get a case of muscle milk light at costco for around $22. I really like it!
  12. I love the oh yeah Protein bars. I get the choc. mint and the choc. Peanut Butter at vitacost.com. I figure it's better than eating candy, even though it tastes like you're eating candy. I didn't know they made a RTD Protein Drink. I say if you like them, drink them. It's better than not getting in enough protein. I get the RTD muscle milk light at costco.I really like that too.
  13. I usually just order a grilled chicken thigh from KFC and at Taco bell I've had just one crunchy taco. This is crazy compared to how much fast food I used to eat.
  14. I put unflavored protein powder in anything I could find that was sugar free. There is a Hawaiian punch that is sf, and sf gatoraide and power aide, besides the Walmart brand of crystal lite. I used the cranberry raspberry flavor.
  15. This is my normal week of how I exercise: Monday no exercise. It's the only day that I work all day. Tuesday morning Zumba then some ab work, and some weight training. Wednesday Group power, (a weight training class) and ab work. Thursday Zumba and abs. (I try to do my abs every day, other than Mondays) Friday weight training then 30-45 minutes of the elliptikill or half of that time split between that and the treadmill. Saturday mornings is another Group power class with Zumba afterwards. Sunday I do some serious weight lifting and cardio with the elliptikill and the treadmill. Some days I skip the gym and go on a long hike with a friend. This has been my exercise routine for at least the past 6 years other than Zumba which is fairly new. I've been doing the weight training for the past 6 years which is when I joined the gym. Before Zumba, I did the stair master 20 min. the eilliptikill for 20 min and the treadmill for 20 min. Even though I did all this exercise, before WLS I did not lose any weight at all.
  16. You're really close to your goal too Lan. I looked at your pictures and you look great!
  17. Sometimes I feel like I can eat more, then there are other days that a few bites fill me up. Maintaining is very easy for me. I am bad about eating junk food, but I weigh every day. If I gain a couples lbs, I am right back to eating right and it is gone the next day. I gained 8 lbs on a 10 day cruise and lost it all in a week.
  18. Just check in here every day. We are here for you. If you click on user cp at the top, it will bring you to this thread you started. If you send me a private message, I would be happy to give you my email address. You won't find more supportive people anywhere! You've come to the right place!
  19. Mhopkins, the only way I made it through my post op diet was to stay away from anyone who was eating. You are being so strong and I hope you are giving yourself all the credit you deserve! Protecting your staple line is very important at this stage but you will be able to eat anything some day. Keep on staying strong! We are proud of you.
  20. Chancie I can't believe how much weight you have lost! Way to go losing nearly 200 lbs! I do wish you luck! I hope the two of you figure out what it's going to take to make this work. It would be so great to travel like that! There has to be a reason the two of you can't seem to say good bye to each other. There is something there and I hope you get to go on one of his trips with him some day. It sounds like spending more time together would help the two of you figure this out.
  21. I waited to tell guys until I decided if I was going to need to tell them. It was a problem eating around them but I managed to stay under cover until I decided I would be eating around them a lot more often. For me it's on a need to know basis. Most people don't know I had surgery. I recently told the guy I am seeing now cause we've been dating a couple of months now. He's been great about it. He said there are so many people having WLS these days, that it is not a big deal.I was kind of embarrassed when he saw some old pictures of me at my daughter's house.
  22. The malabsorption can be very dangerous. You are looking at being diligent at remembering to take all sorts of Vitamins and supplements for the rest of you life if you choose RNY. I know some people who have gotten very sick from slacking off on taking them. Another advantage of the sleeve is that they use the muscular part of the stomach when they do the sleeve and it does not stretch out nearly as much as the stomach/pouch they make for an RNY.
  23. Wow Chancie, it's too bad you can't just go with him. It would be great to be able to travel like that. Have you thought about next time you have some vacation time being able to spend more time with him?
  24. You can have mixed drinks when you are healed. Just expect to feel it a lot quicker.
