  1. The nutritionist at my support group this evening spoke about calories from Protein and calories from carbs. He said that the weight gain comes because of what carbs do to our insulin and blood sugar. It didn't make a whole lot of sense to me, but I know when I did Atkins, I was eating a ton of calories and I was still losing weight. Back then I could eat a huge steak which is all protein, but was probably 1,000 calories. I gained 8 lbs on my cruise and lost it in a week when I got home and went back to my regular eating habits. I sure do love my sleeve!
  2. You look adorable Tiffy! I agree that it's so much fun wearing dresses and buying clothes these days. I am so glad I found you on this board. You are a blessing in my life!
  3. You've made the right decision Wendy! Have a safe journey and we will be waiting to hear how you're feeling as soon as you feel up to posting. You're going to love Dr. Aceves and Dr. Campos!
  4. I am very happy to read about another very happy Dr. Aceves patient. So far on this board, not one person has had a bad experience there!
  5. Thanks Tiff! There are times when I do feel really guilty, and then there are other days when I don't hear from them that I don't feel like I am an important part of their life. So, until one of them shows me or starts talking about his feelings for me, I remain confused. I am not going to sit home if I have an invitation to do something fun. I just don't feel the need to say " oh and by the way, last night I went out with somebody else because you didn't call."
  6. I haven't been in the chat room lately. I've been kind of busy in the evenings but I am going to be around tonight and will leave the chat window open. Does anyone want to talk?
  7. thanks for your advice. I'll keep that in mind. Right now, I am still seeing both of them until one of them shows me in some way or another that they want to become more serious. I have not gotten that feeling from either one of them.
  8. I get Brown Cow at Walmart too. The plain has the least amount of carbs and you can add so many things to make it good. Adding chocolate protein powder and some splenda is really good.
  9. I went alone to Dr. Aceves.I had no desire to take anyone with me. I had a great experience there and would love to go back just to visit. My main problem there was that I was bored. Thank Goodness Dr. Campos loaned me his cell phone (mine would not work) and his lap top. They are all so great there!
  10. Isn't that great? It was only last week that you were saying that you weren't losing fast enough. You'll be at goal in no time!
  11. We are all pulling for you Anna. If you need someone to talk to, I would be happy to give you my phone number. You've had a rough start!
  12. I think it's easier for me to drink with a straw too. I definitely drink more when I have a straw in my glass.
  13. That's great Anna. There are a lot of liquids you can have at this point. Drink them slowly. You can have drinkable yogurt, Soy Slender is soy milk that's really good and low carb. It's not in the fridge section. If you like your Protein drinks, that's really great. There's also K20 protein Water. Just try to sip something a little at a time all day long.
  14. Definitely drink your liquids warm. Vegas Angel had spasms and Dr. Aceves told her to drink her liquids warm to prevent spasms. You should call your doctor for other advice, but also drink sips of warm liquids through out the day.
  15. I use a straw all the time. Every time I go out to eat, I ask for water with a straw. I use a straw at home. You can use a straw as long as you aren't gulping air when using a straw. It's not hard to do that.
  16. Miralax is the best because putting as much benefiber in liquids to get enough fiber gives me horrible gas.
  17. check in with us at chat one of these nights, Cajun!
  18. You can drink Miralax as well. Miralax is not a laxative but it puts liquid where it needs to go.
  19. Oh good thought. I bought some good meds on my recent trip to the Caribbean!
  20. I eat broccoli just fine. I eat it raw and cooked. I couldn't when I was first sleeved though.
  21. Was it cooked? It must be cooked very well when you're newly sleeved.
  22. I can guzzzle just as much water as I could before surgery. I don't sip at all. I drink all I want all at once. I will be 1 year post op at the end of the month.
  23. I am almost at one year post op. I have new hair growing in all over the place. All you can do is make sure you get plenty of Protein and you are not low on Iron. Being anemic can also cause hair loss. It came out the most between 4-9 months.
  24. yes, gall bladder problems are very common with any type of WLS.

Diane, Are you sure you are cutting your food up into very tiny bites and chewing very well? Those of us who were banded first, learned this already. You have to chew your food into a liquid consistency. You also have to wait in between bites to let things settle. Eating fast is not comfortable.
