  1. I know that Dr. Aceves paid in advance to advertise on this site. Where is his advertisement? He had an ad on here and it looks like it has been removed. Why was his ad removed when it was already paid for?
  2. I am afraid to tell you that I've started carrying an extra pair of panties in a discreet little zip lock bag in the trunk of my car. The first time I learned to never trust a fart, I was at the mall away from home about 200 miles. It wasn't pretty. I learned my lesson and I am always prepared now.
  3. Did everyone go away for the long weekend? Does anyone want to talk? I have the chat window open.
  4. Nasty! There is no reason to get DS anyway unless you plan to just keep up your old eating habits. Most of us knew how to diet. We could lose weight. We just couldn't keep it off. The sleeve is a miracle without any of the horrible effects of DS or gastric bypass. My daughter had gastric bypass and I worry about her all the time.
  5. You're welcome! I am glad to help! I use stevia because it's more natural than any other artificial sweetner. Some people don't have a problem with Splenda, but it gives me horrible gas.
  6. For egg tuna or chicken salad, I use Miracle Whip Light and a tiny bit of mustard. You can put eggs in with the chicken salad if you want, but unless you're cleared for solids, I wouldn't put onion or pickles in there yet. It really doesn't matter which brand of Greek yogurt you buy. I just like to buy the plain and add stevia to it cause it's lower in carbs.
  7. It is so weird for me, since before coming off my PPI, I drank ALOT of water. Now it just feels so strange going down.
  8. No, the thing I am trying to get used to is being off my PPI. It's fine most of the time, but I do get heart burn in the evenings. And Water feels completely different going down now. I don't drink coffee tea or wine.
  9. I eat deli Virginia baked ham with a slice of cheese rolled up. The Greek yogurt I get is Brown Cow brand from Walmart. It comes in strawberry and blueberry but I have started buying plain and adding stevia and my own blueberries. I can't remember when you had your surgery but if your'e at least a month post op, you don't need to only have 2 oz every 10-15 min. That is during the healing stage. I think once I was past one month, I was drinking an 8 oz shake in 5 min.
  10. You're welcome Stcyt! You're supposed to be on them 6 months post op. I would suppose that is to protect the tiny tummy while it's healing. I was on them a year, bu it's getting easier every day. Gavescon is supposed to be the only one that won't cause rebound acid. Dr. Aceves told me to take prilosec which is not a PPI, but an acid reducer, every other day for 2 weeks, then every 3 days for 2 weeks, but so far, I have not had to do that.
  11. I went to Dr Aceves in Mexico. I had the best care there that I have ever received in my life.Go to the doctor section on this board and read about his credentials. He is fabulous!
  12. Bands are a night mare. If you had band problems before, you will again. The sleeve has virtually no aftercare . No fill, no unfills, no food getting stuck,no throwing up, no days where certain foods just won't work. I eat whatever I want and living with the sleeve is effortless. I am with Tiffy on this. You could not pay me to get another band.
  13. I am a year out and this is the way I eat steak and chicken. For the most part, I don't cook, cause I live alone. So at home I drink a lot of Protein shakes, lunch meat, Protein Bars, greek yogurt, chicken or egg salad, and these are all soft foods. Dense foods like chicken or steak are things I eat when going out to dinner. Yes, I chew it up until it's just a mushy liquid in my mouth. If I don't,it's going to come back up.
  14. I am anxious to get my lab results back next friday. I've been eating spinach and avacados which are higher in iron. I still don't eat much red meat , but I have been taking iron for about 6 months now.
  15. This is what I was trying to explain. You have to cut solids, or meat up into itty bitty pieces. If you're cutting them up into the size you ate before your surgery, you're going to be in trouble. Cut them up into teeny tiny pieces and then chew them up into nothing. Chew until you can't chew anymore. That's the way you have to eat solid meat.
  16. I have to say since I went off my PPI I can't eat as much. It is really weird that an acid blocker would change the amount I can eat. I still do better with mushies than I do with anything else. With meat, you really have to cut it up very tiny. I am talking little slivers of meat and chew them until there is nothing left to chew. Are all of you sure you are taking really tiny bites and chewing enough?
  17. These ocean sprays mix ins- do they have aspertane in them?
  18. I had a revision from band to sleeve and I have had no complications what so ever. I love my sleeve and compared to the band, it's like night and day. There are a lot of band to sleeve revisions on this board and Obesity Help.com and the majority of people have no complications. I know one person who was on liquids practically the entire time she was banded. Every time she tried to eat solids, she threw up. She was on liquids for over a year. Once she was sleeved, she had no comlications.
  19. Lynn, I honestly do not feel deprived in any way. I can eat anything I want and there is no food that does not work with the sleeve, the way certain foods just would not go through the band. I don't miss food getting stuck or pbs or any other issues I had with the band, especially waking up in the middle of the night choking the way I did when I was banded.
  20. Gavescon has a different ingredient than tums or rolaids. It comes in liquid and chewable tablets. Dr. Aceves recommended it because he said rolaids or tums cause rebound acid.
  21. I never had problems with water and drank over 64 oz until I went off my PPI. Now the only way I can drink it is warm. It's weird how now I can feel it going down, into my esophagus and into my stomach. It's a very strange feeling which I never had when I was on the PPI.

I work for an attorney very part time and goof off the rest of the time.
  23. Living with the band is a nightmare. Living with the sleeve is effortless. Get that band out and get a sleeve! There are many of us band to sleeve revisions and I don't know anyone who is sorry they did it!
  24. I've tried to go off of them before and gave up. The rebound acid goes on for about a week. lately, I have no heartburn all day but have a little bit at night. It's nothing compared to the way it was the first week. I am over the rough spot. I do drink a sip of gavescon if I need to, but haven't needed to lately. You really are supposed to stay on them for 6 months though. I am a year post op, so I decided it was time to stop.
