Leaning Towards Dr. Aceves
I searched and searched before I had surgery with Dr. Aveves trying to find anything I could that was negative. I couldn't find anything or anyone negative on any forum. Everyone loved him and everyone at the hospital. When I went there, I found out why. They are so great there and treat their patients like royalty.

Is chat down?
It was working again last night. It was down on Tuesday.

12 days out and no restrictions???
You are risking complications eating steak so soon after surgery. Your staple line has to heal without dense food pressing up against it. Did your dr. not give you a post op diet to follow?

Is chat down?
I can't get it to load. It just keeps saying loading and nothing happens!

Anyone in the Mesa/Phoenix area?
I am in Mesa taking care of some stuff at my dad's house. I would love to get together with someone who is sleeved or thinking of getting sleeved. Anyone want to meet up?

I'm home.....again.
Hope you feel better soon. Glad your doctor figured this out quickly. Hope you're on the mend now and can start losing like you want!

help needed!
There is no reason you can't get to your goal weight if you follow the rules of protein first, veggies if you have a little room, and under 30 grams of carbs per day.

Chat Room...Help Please!?
I start looking for people to see if anyone is in the chat room around 7 pm Pacific time. There are usually a few of us there at that time. That's 9pm farther east.... and it's the next morning for people in the UK.

It seems like about every 2 hours I am hungry.
If you're on mushy foods or the post op diet, the food just won't hold you for very long. Once you're eating solid meat, it stays with you for a long time.

this is tmi... just be warned.
:thumbup:Yes, we are a fun lovin bunch!

First Meal after the Mush stage.....
I tried the softer meats first. I remember eating some very tender bbq pork as one of my 1st solid meats. I always eye balled my portions according to how much mushie foods I could eat. I can look at a portion and picture if it will fit into the measuring device I used. I always stopped before I felt full because I learned pretty early on that if I ate until I felt full, I would be way too full in 20 min. It's a very uncomfortable feeling when you are too full. I also stuck with mushie foods longer than I was supposed to because it was hard at first to learn to eat solids. I ate a few bites of solids every day, but ate the mushie foods the remainder of the day. It's a learning process!

What surgery can i tell people i've had instead of telling them about the sleeve?
I told people that I had my gall bladder out. Everyone knows I do a lot of exercising and that I have been trying to lose weight. The only people who are surprised at how much weight I've lost are the ones who haven't seen me in a really long time.

Weight regain with VSG?
I just lost another couple of lbs without even trying. If my body is adjusting to where it wants to be, it's still going down. I haven't lost for months so I am surprised when I lose again without doing anything differently.

At match they seem to find any hints I put in on how to find me cause I am not a paying member. also, where do you chat? thanks, I'd love to find a good site and also chat with someone!

Husband convinced everyone here is fake!!
Dr. Aceves is so great that word of mouth is the best advertisement for him! I am glad to hear your husband knew people who went to him!

No problem! I eat Greek yogurt. It's way higher in Protein and has less carbs than regular yogurt. Look at the label and choose the one that has the least amount of carbs. Often I will eat it plain and add stevia to it to sweeten it. I can eat salad now, but you're probably not cleared for raw veggies yet. I make it with spinach leaves and I buy packages of already cooked chicken breast. I cut the chicken up very tiny and throw it on top of the salad. With lower fat ranch dressing, it goes down easily. I also buy Virginia baked ham and roll it up with some sort of cheese and sometimes smear laughing cow light cheese or some other flavored cream cheese on it. The key to eating meat is to cut it up very small and chewing it well. I just had some left over steak. I cut it up small and I am a ketchup lover so I dip it in that and chew it very well. Get some G2 (sfgatoraide) or poweraide zero. Put that in the freezer and stir it after awhile and make your own slushies. I also like sf cran raspberry diet snapple. Early on post op, I made ground turkey with taco seasoning, mixed in some sour cream and topped with cheese and that went down very easily.

Anybody lose just a little hair?
I got tons of protein, and took biotin, zinc and anything else anyone told me to try. I used the Nixosin shampoo and still lost over half my hair. It sucks, but it's growing back in!

For those who has successfully made it..?
My skin is not bad at all for someone who has lost over 100 lbs. My boobs are pretty non existant.I'd love to have plastics to get some, but not bad enough to spend what it would cost.

Just saying hi--new to VS talk
Welcome to VST. It's amazing to me that so many of us manage to come up with the money for this surgery. It was definitely the best money I've ever spent!

Dating and dealing with the sleeve...
Most people in my life don't know. I am really amazed that some people choose to tell everyone. My feeling on this is that it's a very personal decision and it's on a need to know basis. Most people have no reason to have this privileged information!

You're welcome! I really don't see how it would be possible not to lose weight with the sleeve. Our portions are so small, that it makes a huge difference. I think the only way people don't lose with the sleeve is if they don't eat a lot of Protein, and fill up mostly with carbs. Then there are the people who drink their calories with things like high calorie/carb Fruit drinks or those coffee drinks that can have tons of calories in them, or shovel a lot of candy down.

Hoping to go from band to sleeve -- any issues?
Living with the band is a nightmare. Living with the sleeve is effortless. The smartest thing I ever did was getting that band out and revising to the sleeve.

Just a rant- John Goodman-
She looks darn good considering she used to be fat herself. She might be mean, but I would take her as a trainer in a heart beat. I like to exercise hard.
