  1. If your doctor is going to do the sleeve for free, go for it! Everyone I know that has it, just loves it. You'll have permanent restriction and never have to worry about slips, erosion, fills or unfills. There is a forum for life after band removal. You should be able to read in there how successful people have been keeping the weight off after having it removed.
  2. Do you have a big family where you are cooking big meals? That would make it hard. If it's just the two of you, try to eat around him as little as possible. If you made Soup, he can put it in a blender and blend the heck out of it so there are no chunks. Then he could eat what you're having. He can have sf Jello and sf popsicles so maybe you two can eat those together in the evening at snack time.
  3. I have a silky terrier. Looks like a yorkie but a little bit bigger. They don't shed. My bf just got a dog and I see problems coming. He seems to think dogs should be able to get on the bed and if that dog is on my bed, there is going to be trouble. I don't want dog hair on my bed. That's why I bought a dog that does not shed.
  4. That was really a good movie!
  5. no, it's not a sleep disorder. The unfill took care of it, but now i can eat way too much!
  6. Honestly, I never thought this thread would start so many interesting conversations when I started it.
  7. I don't iron either. I look at something before I buy it and decide if it's something that looks like it will need to be ironed. I have occasionally ironed a dress shirt for the bf or DS but that is rare. Froggi, you are doing fine. I didn't lose much at all until I had 3 fills and I exercised my brains out.
  8. Anyone who has questions regarding possible complications with the band should go to the complications section of this board. There are many, many threads about complications that people have had while having a band. People should review this section while doing their research and know what is possible. While it may be that some people will not have a particular complication, it's part of researching a band and knowing if you are willing to take those risks.
  9. I never had any problems in the day time. I could eat anything I wanted. Yet at night I had that problem. I didn't eat past 5 pm. So, yes, they did remove part of my fill. I hadn't had a fill for over a year and up until then, everything was fine. Why my fill was perfect for over a year, and then all of a sudden, it wasn't, is a mystery to me. All I know is, having a tiny fill removed made it so I have no restriction, and now I can't get another fill or the same thing will happen again. So, what good is this band for me? People need to know that having band problems CAN happen out of the blue, through no fault of their own.
  10. Hey, I never thought of that! LOL. I have a hard enough time in the chat room when they are all excited about getting their date. At least Alex is still banded. I am always honest though, and tell them I loved my band at first too, until I started choking on vomit in my sleep. Susan, which Soups can you buy in the store? I would suppose you have to add unflavored Protein to it?
  11. I can't believe the " I like it . It feels good is winning the poll. I could never in a million years feel that charitable . I could never relax. I would be too afraid of being ripped apart.
  12. God, where is PG when I need her. I wish and pray that I didn't like sweets. Sweets are my biggest downfall. Somebody told me a craving for sweets is a vit D deficiency. I should get tested.
  13. I used to love my band until I started choking on vomit in my sleep. I am revising to a sleeve soon. The band was great at first, until that started happening. I am not having trouble now, but I have no restriction. I ate a plate of spaghetti and 2 pieces of garlic bread tonight. okay, call me an over eater, but that is what I got the band for. If I were to get a fill, I would go back to choking on vomit in my sleep. It's a very fine line between being too tight and being too loose. I am tired of worrying about fills and unfills so I am getting the sleeve surgery. Sorry, but I have to be truthful here.
  14. I wish I was going the same time as you two. I can't even believe I will be so close in Phoenix and I can't come down cause it's my dad's 90th birthday. If it weren't for that, I would have gone then too.
  15. This should change. As you lose weight, the fat pad around your stomach melts and the band becomes looser. That's why people need another fill. Try drinking a Protein shake to up your protein and calories. You could always drink a Protein Drink twice a day too, and one meal. the protein drink should go right through your band no matter how tight it is, if you drink it slowly, so you can get your necessary protein and calories .
  16. How in the heck do you stay on track with all that baking? I can't even be around chocolate cake. You must have more willpower than any of us put together. I would eat the entire cake by myself.
  17. You will love the Peanut Butter and chocolate. It's really good. What are you going to use for your 10 days on clear? The unjury unflavored and chicken soup 6 packs each, will not be enough for 10 days. Are you going to buy Isopure somewhere? We don't have a GNC in this dinky town I live in, so I will be stuck ordering everything online. I did find some packets of stuff left over from banding. some grape stuff I bought from my dr.'s office and never used. I have no idea how it tastes. However it tastes, I will have to gag it down. It's so cool that you and Elizabeth will be there at the same time. If my dad's 90th birthday wasn't April 1st, I would be there too. I am bummed.
  18. That's correct! Ken is my right hand man. His email address is ken@SiteNix.com and his cell # is (917) 696-9592 . If you ever have ANY issues with LBT and you can't reach me, please contact Ken. Alex I copied and pasted this from the thread, "Lap Band Talk is moving"
  19. My surgeons nurse's husband has been banded 8 years without a problem. BUT he has no fill and never has. He took up running and manages his weight that way. He has the 4 cc band and they are thinking the band was just too small for him to begin with, but now that he's lost the weight, it's fine, but doesn't need or want a fill.
  20. You can take Miralax for constipation which is a powder you mix in water or any other liquid. It basically has no taste and my doctor says it's the best thing to be on long term.
  21. Thanks Mac. I think the sleeve will be a much better choice for me too. If I didn't know about the sleeve, I would think I just needed a fill. I am scared to death to get one after being too tight. I am glad that soon, I will never have to worry about that again.
  22. I am going alone too Elizabeth. I have to believe that it doesn't matter if I am alone because of all of the wonderful things I have heard about Dr. Aceves. You, Susan, and me will all just be about a month apart. I wish you the best, and April fools day is a good day! It's my daughter and my dad's birthday!
  23. I was like that when DS lived here. I did one whole load of his socks.
  24. Are you going to meet while I am there?
  25. Yes, I am unhappy that I didn't know about the sleeve until after being banded. Now I have to come up with that money twice. BUT, I would have never known about the sleeve it if weren't for this board. I guess everything happens for a reason.
