  1. You might want to try Narcotics Annon. meetings or Overeaters Annon meetings. I know people who have had great success with those programs and there is nothing better than a program that is free for extra support. We certainly don't judge people here, and we are all very supportive of each other. Some of us are in the chat room in the evenings. It's great to talk in real time and I hope you will join us. Most of us are on Pacific time but you can let us know what time is good for you in your time zone if that does not work out for you. Welcome to our board. You have come to the right place!
  2. I am thrilled to have that band sitting on my dresser and not wrapped around my stomach. Life is so much better with the sleeve. I wish I had known about the sleeve from the very beginning. I feel so bad for people who are so excited to be getting ready to have band surgery. I feel like they don't know they are having a ticking time bomb installed inside of them.
  3. I decided to go to support group tonight. I love my support group but my band dr. does not do sleeves. He does a lot of RNY and bands. Last I heard, he was going to start doing sleeves soon, cause people are requesting them. I sure didn't want to be his first one even though he is a great surgeon. I am going to tell them while I was in Arizona I started having band problems again and just decided I was sick of all the band problems and decided it was time for a revision. Every time I got on an airplane, my band tightened up and I was miserable for several days. I was doing a lot of flying right around that time too. I am sure everyone is going to be shocked. I have been going to that support group for over 2 years and we have all gotten to be a pretty close group.
  4. Maybe I'll stop at Trader Joes when I go to the airport on Thurs. My flight does not leave until 4 pm so I will have plenty of time to fool around in "the big city"
  5. A lot of people use fit day or the dailyplate to calculate their protein carbs and calories.
  6. I found some samples in the medicine cabinet for the 37.5 Efexor extended release from the last time I tried it. I am going to call my dr. and ask that he write the letter to ins. that I tried all the others they wanted me to try first. If not, WasA told me she got some from Canada for a really good price . If I can take them, I may have to go that route.
  7. Soy slender soy milk has 3 grams of carbs. I don't drink milk. I eat Protein such as eggs, tuna, chicken salad, meat and cheese. I drink a Protein Drink made with Water that has 2 grams of carbs.
  8. Thanks for changing the color. I can read it much easier now. Are things going better for you now?
  9. I had my carbs much lower during my post op diet. I am not sure if that would help.
  10. I don't know where I could pick them up :thumbup1: You could always leave them with Dr. Campos or Lucy with my name on them. I will be there in Oct but not until the 2nd week in Oct.
  11. Dr. Aceves has never had a leak and does 3 leak tests. I am going back to him to have my post op tests. I have no desire to go to my pcp regarding anything related to the sleeve. I could always go back to my band dr. if I had some sort of emergency, but I honestly can't imagine what that would be. Dr. Aceves makes sure you don't have complications before you leave the hospital.
  12. I sent a pm and have not heard back.
  13. Yes, I have tried effexor. I am thinking about trying it again because I think when I tried it, that was before it came with the extended release or whatever the newest one is. It's supposed to come on slower and more evenly, so that you don't get such a big dose when you first swallow it. Right before my dad died, my dr. wanted me to try it but my ins. would not pay for it and wanted me to try Paxil Prozack Zoloft Cymalta, etc all which I have tried already. He has to write a letter telling them I have tried everything other than the extended release types. I am sort of afraid to try again, because going through those side effects is so hard.
  14. No, I can't take those medications. I get sweaty, headaches, nauseous, feel like I drank 1,000 cups of coffee, and they make my insomnia worse. The one I can take which is one of the oldest ones, amitriptiline, causes horrible weight gain. I think that was the beginning of all my gaining weight. All the newer ones which are the SSRI's cause me every side effect that is listed is possible.
  15. maybe we should send a few pms to him!
  16. My daughter is not trying to ruin my life, but she says she can't be around me because I am depressed. I have tried just every anti depressant on the market and have had horrible side effects. I told her to stop her Lexaapro for a few weeks and let me know how she feels after that. It's easy to say focus on the positive but it gets to a point when you are depressed that you can't "just snap out of it" I have been this way before but was able to take an anti depressant which helped tremendously. They took that one off the market because it causes liver failure, and I haven't ever been able to find one I could tolerate after that.[/color]
  17. My favorite Protein drink is choc. peaunut butter that you have to order online from Netrition.com - The Internet's Premier Nutrition Superstore! Ask Mack to list the websites for the sample packages. That way you can try a few and not have to buy a lot. I am not sure where she put that thread. I have heard from others that the brand she likes called Chike is good. I am not sure where she gets that either. I was allowed the chicken, tuna and egg salad on soft foods. Just make sure it's chopped up very finely and take tiny bites. I could only eat about 3 bites in the beginning. I would think soft turkey breat deli meat would be okay as it's very soft. Again, tiny bites and chew it up til there is nothing left to chew.
  18. I got my unflavored protein powder from GNC and put it in cyrstal lite, gatoraide, etc.
  19. Yea, I had my appendix out and it's the lower right side. Some people have to go through the food stages slower as their body heals slower.
  20. It's not even a month since you had your surgery! Don't be so hard on yourself! The doctor that most of went to recommends at least 60 grams of Protein per day and about 800 calories. Good sources of protein are cottage cheese, and eggs if you can stand them. Some people have trouble with eggs but in the beginning, I mixed hard boiled chopped up eggs with low fat mayo or miracle whip and a little bit of mustard. I also ate tuna salad and chicken salad. I am not sure what food stage you are supposed to be on. Are you drinking Protein drinks? That's the easiest way to get a good shot at protein. Did your doctor put you on a post op diet?
  21. Tandy, I am also having a really hard time seeing your font. It's very small and very light. Can someone direct Tandy how to change the color and make it a little bigger? I don't want to miss anything she is saying!
  22. Oh boy Vegas, that's one more spot were are going to have to hit. I have to have some of that shampoo. I am almost out of my nioxin. I am all for something cheaper. Plus I think it's drying to my hair. You're right, I am going to start a list.
  23. Congratulations Mac! that is so awesome! VA, thanks. I am so glad I planned this trip. It's really whats keeping me going at this point. I can't wait til Thurs. I need to get away from here really badly.
