Thank you Greentealael! Im researching, and coming to Miami might be the best option. In Charlotte Ive had quotes in the 16K range… for a tiny tuck. Seems like Miami has very skilled surgeons at more affordable prices.

    February surgery buddies 🥰

I have my 2 week pro-op appointment this Tuesday! I'm really hoping I don't have to do a full 2 weeks of liquid diet before surgery 🤣

I didn't have any pain after my bariatric surgery, but I DID after my first plastic surgery (lower body lift). I also felt like my body was on fire when I woke up. They put fentanyl in my IV line, and it knocked me out. I'm guessing that's what they did to you - that, or morphine.

Oh Happy Day! Finally hit my goal

Just came back from a short holiday with my kids and woke up to a nice surprise this morning after retuning to my work place. I had to call my wife right away to share the good news. I'm officially below my goal weight of 70 kg with a "NORMAL" BMI. I was worried I was not going to hit the goal before the second surgery-versary in January 24 but I did it. Playing on all the rides in Legoland theme park and chasing my kids on the beach must have helped me lose the last stubborn 1 kg 🤣. Here is a before and after. Left was a few months before the surgery (pants size 52") and right was two days ago (pants size 29"). Look at those thighs! You never realize how huge you were until you compare the before and after photos.

    When to get new clothes?!

I went through all my "small" clothes too. I was able to wear the smallest ones until about 10 pounds from my goal. When my pants fell down walking up the stairs with my arms full, I knew it was time to buy. I like Ross and thrift stores. I also bought from TEMU, though I return half of what I buy. TEMU ships from China and takes 2-3 weeks, so I had to predict my size or order something that would look good a little tight. My daughter in law and 2 of my friends are thrilled with their "new" wardrobes too. One of those friends is right behind me in her weight loss, so she really needed the clothes I gave her.

    Getting cold feet

I had more intensive pre-surgery tests done for this surgery than any other. They will make sure you are healthy going in and have an entire team who are dedicated to making sure you are healthy when you come out. Most of my "pain" was gas and after the day of surgery, the discomfort was more annoying than anything. Coughing was the worse. If you cough, press against the larger incision. The worse part was actually the taste in my mouth in recovery, and they wouldn't give me water to rince with. They said it was the anesthesia, but I don't remember it ever being like that. Maybe because they would usually let me drink.

    Protein post op

I'm 9 months out from WLS and I've been following this forum since January 2023. I can't count the number of posts here of people struggling to drink protein. I consumed a lot of them before ever having surgery. Back in my weightlifting days. Maybe it's an acquired taste sort of thing but never had a problem with them except for a few premade ones tasting too sweet. Food/drink aversions are pretty common post-op though. taste buds change etc. I can't help but wonder, when using the powders... if tasting chalky, use a good blender. I have a Vitamix and even the cheapest protein powders taste good. I tried Walmart's Equate Whey Protein powder for $18/18 servings. If you are mixing with a spoon or shaking in a cup, even the best powders will taste chalky. I buy vanilla or unflavored powder so I can change up the taste by adding frozen fruit, SF various flavor Greek yogurts, peanut butter or cocoa powder, Crystal Light or stevia to sweeten. I like to use milk and ice. It comes out tasting like a milkshake. Strawberry being my fav. Experiment to find what you like. Variations are endless and beats drinking the same premade ones day after day. GL on your weight loss journey!!

    Recovery and hunger

Thank you everyone for your responses. I stopped eating solid food and continued with my diet plan and I can say it's terrible. I'm HUNGRY all the time! It's impossible. Everyone saying about head hunger, but no solutions how to deal with that. I drink enough water but it never helped before surgery neither now. Honesty, I'm giving up and don't know how to live normal life.

    Protein post op

I have isopure unflavored powder, I put that in creamy coffee or in my chicken broth, specifically I have Knorr chicken broth powder, 1.5 cup water to 1 tsp broth powder with one scoop of protein powder. That really worked well for me and warm liquids feel better than cold right now.

    No drinking rule with snacks?

I did forget to mention that even though I had to wait 30 minutes before and after eating, once I moved on to solid foods, I only had to wait 30 minutes AFTER eating. I could drink up to the point I started eating something. Not sure what the rationale was there - maybe there's more of a risk of nutrients being washed out of your stomach when you're on liquids and/or purees when you drink BEFORE eating, too (which makes sense since those don't stay in your stomach for very long).
