You’re reading an awful lot into some very simple questions. I posted what I posted so that apositivelife4me could think about the “whys”. Any judgement or ridicule is projected by you and not intended by me. I wrote that it was rhetorical because the answers are not my business or in any way related to my path. I meant absolutely no harm nor did I wish to engage anything other than some introspective thought. You read negativity where none was intended. I don’t own your frame of reference.

This is what I ate today...

I have been using them on and off for the past month. I normally don't have a sweet tooth but the protein and fiber count and net carbs on the Atkins bar is what drew me too it. Lesson learned, no more of that.

This is what I ate today...

I follow a "protein adequate" low carb, low fat whole foods protein forward diet. I'm only just now re-experimenting with adding a small 2oz serving of berries a day--not every day. My RD instructs for men and women are 60-80g prot/daily. My personal script for protein is 74g and I'm a 55yr female, 5'4" tall. I exercise at least 6 days a week (some days that's just walking) for 30-60minutes or more. I eat on average, about 25g net carbs. My protein averages 65-75g/daily. Healthy fats (avo, nuts/seeds, olive oil, KG butter) fills out the rest of 650-750 cals per day. I eat almost a pound of veggies/tiny amount of berries per day. I eat B-L-D and if necessary to make macros, will have a snack (but that is a rare occasion--if I feel snacky at night, I will allow a sf popsicle for 15cals and 2g net carbs). I also have protein coffee at the start of my day to fill out my protein reqs. I have 3oz of Premiere Protein + 3oz Silk Cashew Milk mixed together, spread over 3 cups of decaff in the wee early hours of the day. I have to eat the by the clock cuz I'm rarely hungry. Hope that helps. I think you're a guy, so you may or may not need extra cals? If I add cals right now, my monthly loss gets cut in half and I'm way too impatient for those shenanigans. If I was gonna die from sweet cravings, I'd first try for a couple of berries or an ounce of Granny Smith apple with a tsp of peanut butter on it. If that didn't work, I'd cut an Atkins Bar into 8 pieces -- freeze them, then only have 1. I would still dump from that 1 piece.

This is the approach that I use: I strictly avoid processed sugars. I have a sweet tooth and that is one of the major causes that contributed to my weight gain over my lifetime. I limit myself to artificial sweeteners (such as Splenda and sugar alcohols), to natural low calorie sweeteners (such as Stevia) and to the natural sugars found in fruits and milk. I had diabetes. That went into remission when I left the hospital two days after surgery and I have not taken any diabetic medicine ever since and my blood sugar levels are good. I test my blood sugar levels periodically. [Currently over 5 years post-op] I read the labels of all food that I consume. I look at the grams of sugar per serving. If it is above 5 grams, I look at the ingredients. The ingredients are listed in order by highest percentage, and if the first 5 ingredients contain processed sugar (in any of its many forms), then I avoid this food, like a plague. I also restrict myself to about one meal per day containing complex carbohydrates (such as pasta and bread). I also avoid all carbonated beverages. I lost 20 pounds pre-op solely on eliminating carbonated beverages from my diet and I will not go back.

Closest one is 21 miles from my house. What else is good there that would make it worth the trip?
