    Surgery then travel for vacation?

If you're quick to heal and rebound (like I am), you will probably be fine physically, but you will need to plan your meals. You will most likely be on liquids (maybe pureed at that time depending on your plan) which can be challenging in certain environments. If you will be staying in a home - no problem, if you are staying in a hotel you'll need to think through how to manage your nutrition. Also, most people find that while they are physically fine, there are repercussions that they are dealing with (less stamina as your body adjusts to a longer term calorie deficit), soreness, mental and emotional fatigue, irritability, etc.) Also you may want to consider how "food centric" your vacation will be. Some things (and some people) are heavily oriented around food/eating. It really supported me in the first 6 weeks not to be around what I considered food oriented activities. While on liquids I just MISSED EATING. I missed the taste of food, I missed chewing, I just missed it. That did pass after the first two months, but I also had very little of those kinds of activities in my environment and that really worked for me and let me keep my mind focused on other things.

I will second GBLADY41's critique of BariatricPal MX and Dr. Illan. I was sleeved on 8/7/2017. It was awesome, and the charge was only $4,600. I received the best care ever at Oasis of Hope Hospital. I can not emphasize enough the value and piece of mind that I felt knowing that everything was taken care of for me. All I had to do was fill out an online questionnaire, pay a $500 down payment to hold my surgery spot, and show up at the San Diego Airport. Bariatric Pal MX and Dr. Illan both receive an A+ from me on everything. Give them a try. You will not be sorry!

Last night after work I went home and did what has now become a ritual. I made a cracker with chunky peanut butter and strawberry preserves. I know I am not supposed to do this - but this one thing feels like something I am going to hold on to, to keep, like a little prize for all the other things I didn't do earlier in the day and the other things I did do that I am supposed to do. Now, there have been some changes - instead of a full sandwich I use a very low carb wafer. And I measure the peanut butter out at 20 grams and I now splurge on this very high preserves that are made from these very tiny strawberries in the pacific northwest, etc. But it got me wondering - what are others holding on to and why do we hold on to it? Truthfully I have the same physical satiety if I ate some carrots or had a protein shake or a couple slices of chicken. And I have to admit, I am torn over this PBJ cracker!

    Greek yogurt

Try adding sucralose (Splenda) and cinnamon to taste. Delicious! Are you familiar with EZ-Sweetz? It's liquid sucralose and mixes wonderfully with yogurt and everything else. It may seem kind of pricey for a small amount but a little of that stuff goes a really long way. I love it.

Who said you cant have veggies? You just need to eat lower carb veg. This is a great option for many people. Also, it can take some people 2-3 months for their bodies to completely convert to fat burning before they start to lose weight others start losing the first week.

My surgery is tomorrow too. Good luck to you! It is normal to be nervous but we will come out on the other side healthier and happy we made this decision. Prayers to you tomorrow.

Hitting goal has been amazing. I'm still in shock and now learning how to maintain. The best thing is that I can now eat a variety of foods and incorporate new and healthy recipes into my diet. Finally, for the first time in live EVER, I feel like I am not on a "diet" per se, more like just eating sensibly. I DO on occasion indulge in chocolate or a handful of chips, but not on a regular basis, and a small bit of it satisfies cravings. For the longest time I drank wine, even after surgery (no recommended!) but I find that now the desire has sone out the window. Instead, I occasionally sip my husbands drink just for fun. At one point before surgery, I drank up to an entire bottle of red wine every evening. Imagine the calories! I just don't want it anymore. I love feeling "normal". I always hated standing out due to my weight, and I always have hated "diets". Being at goal allows me to just eat sensibly and maintain. Cheers!
