Okay, I can totally hear you on this. Same thing here. I'm 3 years post-op. COVID and life wreaked havoc in my life, lost my 16 year old fur baby . . . 2020 and 2021 SUCKED! But I finally saw a sign that said, "Remember why you started this." and it hit me - - - I had to get my health back. I was embarrassed by my weight gain because after WLS and reading some of the forum posts where people gained weight back, I thought "Oh! I'll never be one of THOSE people!" HA! I am! But I finally found light at the end of the tunnel on November 22nd. Something finally just clicked in my head. I started going to the gym and I've been 35 out of the last 40 days. I joined Weight Watchers two weeks ago and as of this morning I've lost 3 pounds. I have depression, which it sounds like you probably have after all that you've been through, and I see a counselor every 3 weeks. We do online video conferences. It's very helpful to talk about my stressors and fears. You are NOT a failure! Forgive yourself, pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and join me on a journey to refocus on our weight in 2022.

    Why Are Scales so Fickle?

Bathroom scales aren't precision devices. Let me give you the advice my nutrition coach gave me. Weigh as often as you want, but pick ONE day a week and average the last week's worth. Then track your average. Because maybe you slid your scale and it's balanced differently. Maybe you ate something salty or drank a little wine and you're bloated. Maybe it's almost time for Aunt Flo to visit, or you overdid it at the gym, and are retaining water. But the average won't lie to you. And so, on days like yesterday where I had a bunch of salty food for NYE and then weighed in heavy, it averages out over the week, and I see I am losing about 2 lbs. a week.

    Favorite Grocery Products

I usually find them in the Meijer refrigerator section. I think the Outer Aisle website lists stores that carry them. https://www.outeraislegourmet.com/pages/find-a-store

5 months post op - Thankful

Congratulations! I'm 5'9 and my starting weight was right around the same as yours. I was sleeved on December 08 and have already dropped weight- hoping that I too can reduce my thyroid medications and get rid of my sleep apnea machine once I drop under 200 lbs. Best of luck moving forward!

    Do You loose weight slower

That should be told to the revision patients, and maybe it is but it wasn’t told to me..If that would have been explained to me my expectations would be different.. “catwoman7” what is a virgin bypass?

    Do You loose weight slower

That's interesting. I didn't know that. Still, 35 pounds in 2 months sounds really good. Way to go!

    Losing 2 pounds a week

2 pounds a week is very sustainable and a good way to ensure the weight will stay off. Your calories sound right in line. I'd be happy with 2 pounds a week. Way to go!

    Do You loose weight slower

I’ve heard the same thing. My surgeon said because our body has gone thru a weight loss surgery before, so it knows what to expect. I’m trying to remain positive and force myself to be more active in hopes it won’t be true. I’m almost two weeks post op and lost 16 lbs since surgery. I’m sure it’s mostly water weight since I’m still on liquids.

When I had my first Bariatric doctor visit and decided to do this, I told myself I was not going to say anything about it to my friends. Not close friends but groups of people we hang out with at times. Well, I've been telling a lot of people and I kick myself every time. I just can't shut up about it. Most people look at me like I have 2 heads and go on about how it's extreme and scary and oh "you better be aware that it will change your life a lot". I want to snap back and say, don't you think I know that and don't you think I've done a lot of research on this before I going in to it? Most don't have any clue about it. My fat friends look and feel guilty when I start talking about it, like I'm going to try and talk them in to it. I guess, I'm just excited and I want to talk about it. Then I get disappointed when I get weird, uneducated, ignorant responses. That's why I love to get on this site. It brings me back to why I'm doing it and how great my life will be and that I'm not alone.
