    3 week stall...I guess

    So unfortunately I did check my weight and I only lost 1lb since my post op appointment last week and I am extremely annoyed. Like in another week I’ll be 4 weeks out and I only lost 14 lbs after surgery so far. I am trying my best with protein and water goals and I am following the plan, not to mention I move a lot and my bms are normal so I’m not understanding what the issue is. Trying to not get discouraged I know this is normal but still it’s a little disheartening but I know it will get better.

    Thanks for sharing this! In my head I figured the first 3 months were an indicator of how the rest of the process is going to go. Minus my preop weight loss, I've lost 18 lbs so far, a month and a half in... BUT it does look like I might have broke my second stall (YAY), down again this morning.

    Help I need answers

    So here is my story and already I know your being able to help me is a long shot. I had my stomach stapled in 1999. I lost 100 pounds but the metal ring that was placed at the bottom of my stomach eroded through. Later I learned this is why they do not do this procedure anymore. I then had a conversion surgery to a gastric bypass in 2012. This was following the death of my daughter. I lost 30 pounds but that was from no appetite due to depression. I never had restriction from the surgery. I had a revision in 2020 (October)) again I have no restriction and am not losing weight. I have done everything I was told and it did not work again. Have you ever heard of this? My pouch is an appropriate size, but I can still eat? Why doesn’t it work for me? Why can I still eat? Do I need a ring or device to truly have restriction? I need some help and answers.

    Travel after surgery

    I don't think the two hour drive will be an issue. The hospital where I had my surgery was more than two hours away from my home and we made the drive on day 2 after surgery. Whether or not you'll be ready to go hiking in July is very much a YMMV kind of thing but you should be able to enjoy more restful activities with no problem (assuming all is well).

    Yes to not missing so many of the same things. Yes, to not missing bumping into walls, tables, ... & all the resulting upper thigh bruises. Yes, to loving being able to buy any clothing I like, except in stores that don’t stock small enough sizes. Yes, to loving being able to zip up long boots. Yes, to not missing having to sit down & physically lift one leg up over the other to put on tights. Yes, to not missing being knocked & bumped because my body oozes over the seat into the aisle on planes. Love that I don’t need the entire bath sheet to dry myself anymore - half an ordinary towel is ample. Love I am able to play with my nieces & nephews longer & don’t need to sit down after a couple of minutes. And I love that two of them can sit next to me on an armchair with one on my lap now.

    So mad at myself for regain

    @Debbieduck4 PM me if you want to attend my online support meeting tonight at 6pm CST. We're a great group of committed folks who really motivate each other and help us with accountability and focus. It's hard to go back to basics, but IMHO that's what it takes. Plan, weigh/measure, log EVERYTHING that goes in your mouth for a baseline. Everything. Then look at ways to cut the trash out and emphasize the healthy stuff. Prioritize protein, water, healthy veg, healthy fats. You can do it. Seen too many people succeed in getting back to goal to believe it won't. Hang in there. These are tough days.
