    Hullo from Dubai // Intro

    Hi Dubai people! I'm also in Dubai right now. Headed back to Beirut in a few weeks. I also consumed a lot of lentil soup in the past month. Really Lebanese food is ideal for the recovery period because there are lots of mushy healthy things.

    I was watching some good videos about smoothies and overnight oats. A good way to add in your protein powder, veges and fruits. Only if you like them(smoothies and overnight oats) ofcourse. Sent from my SM-N960F using BariatricPal mobile app

    Hungry at night?

    I am 4 months post op, and pretty lucky in that things seem to have gone quite well so far. Something I've noticed in the last month or so though is how hungry I feel at night, and sometimes I feel like I really need to eat before I go to sleep, which is usually about 4 hours after my last meal. I often wake up feeling the same. Right now I am awake at midnight, not being able to sleep and and feeling like I need to eat. I don't think it is head hunger because I don't actually want to eat, it's more like a sensation of emptiness. Has anyone else had this? Am I actually hungry?! I am consuming around 500-900 calories a day. Pre op I was told I was prediabetes, so I wonder if my blood sugar might have something to do with it. Maybe I need to spread my meals out a bit more? Any ideas appreciated.

    Sounds like hormonal weight gain (fluid retention) due to pms to me. Give it a few days and see where its at, hopefully the fluid retention will have gone.

    Nighttime Hunger

    I don't have this problem, but I find that drinking a warm beverage fills me up pretty well during the day. Have you tried drinking a cup of tea, decaf coffee, or protein hot chocolate? Also, are you taking a proton pump inhibitor (acid reducer)? I think if you have too much stomach acid, the feeling can be confused with hunger. It might be something to discuss with your surgeon.

    check with your doctor about the menstruation. Although it's fairly common to have weird hormone things going on after WLS. Estrogen is stored in fat cells, and some of it is released when you're losing weight rapidly. A lot of women have screwed up cycles for a few months - but then it stabilizes when weight loss slows down. But in your case, given you haven't menstruated in awhile and you're on a med that's supposed to stop it, I'd check in with my doctor just in case.

    Sex after sleeve surgery

    My husband and I waited til week 3 or 4 when my incisions no longer hurt and my stomach didn't feel tightly sewn up inside. We obviously still went easy with it and doggy style worked out great. As silly as this sounds, beforehand, I was afraid that contracting my stomach muscles during orgasm would hurt or damage something but that wasn't the case at all. Hope you and your hubby have figured out what works for you!

    Favorite Grocery Products

    I buy a lot of turkey bacon but my kids eat more of it than I do. Since my VSG I’ve notice plant protein sits a lot better I’ve added pictures of 2 of my favorites. The Lightlife sausage is a great ground beef replacement. I still eat a lot of chicken and shrimp that I cook in the air fryer because it’s not as dry that way. I also buy A LOT of zucchini and tomatoes and mushrooms.

    I've embraced talking about the surgery AS PART of a lifestyle change. I've actually had a few coworkers pursue the surgery after seeing my success with it. I'm not sure why some are so ashamed to discuss surgery. I see it as an opportunity to better educate people and perhaps help a few with their own struggles along the way. No shame in my game.
