True. In the end it's always a question of "how big is the price one has to pay for it". If you can maintain a BMI in the normal range or maybe even in the being-slightly-overweight range rather effortlessly what's the point of trying to white knuckle your way to a BMI of e. g. 21? If we're being honest we're no longer talking about "health" then. We're talking about "vanity". Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with wanting to lose more weight because of a little vanity but be honest and stop hiding behind the word "health" once a normal weight is reached and it doesn't hurt to be aware of the price one might have to pay for it either. For many patients the decision to lose some more "vanity weight" might boil down to "Do I want a life or a diet and an exercise plan?" I'm dropping again the term "best weight possible". For some, that might indeed be that BMI of 20. For others it might be the BMI of 27 or 28 or higher, depending on starting BMI and life circumstances. Usually surgeons and dietitians are more realistic when it comes to goal weight than the patients, e. g. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18201668/

Stage 1 Diet and Ice Cream

Avoid ice cream, but find a protein shake flavor you like and pour it into an ice tray. Take a few cubes and put them in a blender with some more liquid protein shake and then it's like a shake. Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Beginning BMI 35 or under

Try not to worry what other people tell you; if you and doctor agreed that WLS is the way to go, then that's what you should do. I think some people tend to think in order to have WLS you need to be 400+ pounds. WLS helps a lot of people with their weight, but also healing joints, getting rid of diseases that can be caused by excess weight, etc. I had the sleeve and am currently getting a revision to bypass, and am at 35 BMI. Some would say i don't need the surgery, while me and my surgeon have decided that's what's best. Do what you feel is best.

Hi I am in Los Angeles area as well. I had the lap band in 2009 but before I was banded I had my gallbladder removed. The lap band was awful so in 2013 I got a gastric sleeve. That worked fantastic until the acid reflux and Gerd. So to fix that I had a hiatal hernia repair and that did not work. So for the last 5 yrs straight I have been on prescription heartburn medication. It was so bad that I was in so much pain without meds. The medication controlled it but I didn’t want to depend on it. So I went to see My gastroenterologist and they did an upper G.I. and an endoscopy and it showed that I had a lot of acid and the only thing my surgeon said we can do with the bypass. So I just had to bypass this past Wednesday, June 24, 2020. I hope this was worth it I just read your story right now. I will be completely devastated if it wasn’t. My insurance allowed for me to have a revision. my gastroenterologist and they did a upper G.I. and an endoscopy and it showed that I had a lot of acid and the only thing my surgeon said we can do was a bypass. My insurance allowed for me to have it revision. I only stayed one night in the hospital. I am home and I’m doing well I’m on liquids but man I miss texture of food in my mouth. They put you omeprazole for three months so once I stop taking that and if the Hartmans not gone that’s it I will be devastated. I went through the Association of South Bay surgeons in Torrance bariatric program. Where do you go?

I had a look at his facebook page yesterday and he now created a new facebook page for the HGH gel MLM scheme, so his facebook page now focusses again on WLS etc. Hopefully he has done the same with his youtube channel or at the very least clearly marks his videos,

I'll be 6 months out on Tuesday, and I'm down 72 lbs from surgery date (113 from start). I've still got a ways to go as I had a higher BMI to start.

    New Member, Revised!

Just got the Revision from a 2013 LSG to DS 10 days ago. I'm recovering well and seeing excellent results. Everything went better than expected. Just graduated to Puree stage today after four weeks of a liquid diet. The diet was satisfying and I never went hungry. Now I'm adding some new foods to my diet for this 2 week stage. In these COVID-19 times, the hospital does not allow visitors so no family could visit during my 5 day stay. I had four other required procedures that week for a total of 3 surgeries over 4 days. I've seen a lot of great, relevant information on this forum. I look forward to getting through the journey with all of you.

    Constipation

I totally understand the frustration... haven't gone in four days myself and starting to stress about it. Funny thing is, my own surgery is supposed to have the exact OPPOSITE issue, but I'm the weirdo that even confused my surgeons office, go figure! Anyway, I hope you can figure out something that'll work for you. I've upped my fluid even more than normal, have taken Milk of Magnesia, Miralax, and bought stool softener I have yet to try and... Magnesium Citrate as my last resort because that stuff is NASTY! 🤮 My surgeons office had me cut out banana's and told me to cut out my iron for three days and just take multivitamins without and then once it clears up go back to taking only TWO instead of the THREE I WAS taking. I've decided since it didn't work LAST time (I was constipated last week too) I'm cutting it down to one with Iron and two without. I'll just tell my primary and she can do my labs more frequently to keep an eye on it since I see her on Tuesday anyway. It's frustrating, painful, and incredibly annoying! I hope it clears up for you!
