One other thing - go closet shopping. I found that I had some clothes in about 4 different sizes in my main and guest closets that I’d forgotten about. Not much, but enough to get by.

How did you learn about surgery

Seems so many ppl are getting surgery, just wondering how you found out about it and how you plan to change your life once you have had it.

    Self esteem

I can tell you I have more self-esteem now at 240lbs than I did at 140. I was skinny and fit and had a 6-pack and HATED my body. I thought I was the most disgusting thing to walk this earth. Becoming fat was in a twisted way a blessing because I learned to love me for ME and not for how I looked. I was vain and self-absorbed and would pick at every invisible fat roll when I was skinny. Self-esteem should never be connected to the way you look. The only reason it is for some people, I think, is because society says it's "bad and wrong" to be overweight. Well, as a former skinny person... if you don't love yourself, you won't love your body no matter how it looks. Now I hope to lose the weight so my inner confidence matches my outward appearance.

I was approved for soft, mushy food too! My NP told me that I can eat up until 1/2 cup (or 4oz) of "food." She told me to give myself 30 minutes to eat and if I couldn't eat it all within that time limit or felt fullness prior to the 30 minute mark, just stop.

    Choices of liquids

Well, guys after diluting the Campbell's tomato soup, my belly did not like it after the 3rd or 4th tablespoon, so yeah, I discarded it as well. I will just stick and duke out this next 7 days like a "G"! I got some egg drop soup, and I made veggie soup today for the family, but I will still hold off on taking any of the juices in. I am still trying to get the 64 ozs completed. I did complete my 1-mile walk today, as my goal was set for today. 11 oz protein shake, and water for the rest of the day for me!!

    Any good protein tips?

I also like the variety of the Syntrax NEctar shakes. Love the lemonade. They sell a variety pack. I haven't seen them in stores, but I have bought it online. I also like unjury chocolate and premier chocolate. re: budget, just remember even if the powders seem expensive, you'll only be spending a couple dollars a meal, so it is still cheaper than most foods you'd eat before surgery. Good luck.

I was constantly told to lose weight by doctors but WLS was never suggested. I should have had the surgery 10-15 years ago, and the stigma absolutely pushed me away from it. I was ashamed that I couldn't do it on my own I guess...and yet I didn't think a bit less of anyone else who had it. I am only 7 weeks out but I can already tell that I made the right decision and I wish I would have done it sooner instead of spending my youth obese, unhealthy and unhappy. I missed out on so many things because of my obesity. I don't see this changing in the near future, at least not in the United States. People are extremely judgemental and have a punitive attitude when it comes to medical intervention. You see that attitude not only toward obesity but also addiction, pain management and mental illness. I get enraged every time I see someone post something on social media about "You don't need antidepressants, you need running shoes." People think if they just eat enough kale and do enough crossfit that there is no need for a flu shot. People are even judgemental when it comes to cancer! I am all for natural remedies when possible but I am incredibly grateful to live in an age of modern medical interventions and I will absolutely use any tools I can to make myself healthier and happier.

    Choices of liquids

Where does the fluid go? Pretty much straight through, be you sleeve or Bypass, except for me with Precious Pouch and her pinhole drain out. And if you are up for 8 hours, drinking a 8 oz☕ glass. per hour or 2 oz every 15 minutes, by the time you get completed--' you will have been putting out pale lemonade colored urine. And woe be you if you finish up late in the evening, because you will be up all night, running back and forth. And that is just how,it happens!💦🚽
