I am 12 days post op and have that feeling everyday. I'm doing great physically. I have no hunger or cravings. I hate the protein shakes and cant wait to move onto pureed stage ( Tuesday!!). I still feel a little down or depressed because this is my favorite time of year and I can't do all my favorite things. I am so tired All.the.time. I just can't keep up anymore. Just know .. this to will pass. These 6 weeks of no real food or energy will only be a small blip in the scheme of things. We will lose weight. We will eat real food again and doing that will help with depression and energy levels. We will get through this. Hang in there and know you will do great.

You can get a patch behind your ear for nausea - scopolamine - ask for one, works for three days. Or zofran scrip. Good luck and welcome to the other side.

    Gastric Bypass Day 2

Congrats on your surgery. Do you have a list of post op diet instructions? Did you have surgery here in the US? If so, call your surgeon's office and get them to send you the diet instructions. Most of us get them from either our surgeon or our RD during the 3-6 months leading up to surgery. Every doc has a different plan.

Switch doctors. Your doctor is out of date...which doesn't speak well of her keeping up on her continuing education. My doctor's been asking me to consider WLS for over 10 years. So far, so good.

    Feel like a liar

My brother in law was referred to have Gastric By-Pass by his doctor. He's about 5'9", weights about 350, is diabetic and is disabled. He's had back surgery, needs a total hip replacement and is only 33 years old. When he told me that, I said you should do it, it will be life changing. He says "I'm going to wait a few years to see if you croak from your surgery before I even consider it." Gee.... thanks brother. He also continuously mentions how I've lost to much weight and that if I'm not careful I will die.

My surgeon said in a seminar that about once a week he has a patient in tears at the hospital after surgery saying they have regrets. And they always feel better after a few weeks. it's a very emotional time, and the hormone swings of the big physical changes don't help. It's very common. Just do your best. it's all anyone can ask of you.

    Feel like a liar

Here's my alternative view. I told my husband, my two teen daughters who live with me and my best friend. That's it. Work just knew I was having a surgical procedure (it was all they were entitled to know) as well as how long I thought I'd be out. When people ask, I tell them I eat a very high protein, low carb, low sugar diet; I work out 10-15 hours a week and log everything in My Fitness Pal. Every last bit of that is true. I wouldn't tell people at work or elsewhere any of my other health issues/stories/resolutions, so I'm not sharing this one. My mother and sister don't know. I'm fine with that, but I'm very private about my health. Everyone is different.

    Stalled and stuck

Dehydration can cause the dizziness as well as lack of nutrition. You don't state how many grams of protein or liquids you are consuming. A deficit of either will also cause the stall to last longer. If you work retail, how often are you able to eat/drink during your shift? You need something every hour to drink and every 3 to eat in these early stages. How is urine ouput and color? Try warm tea, or popsicles for fluid or crystal light half and half w a clear protein drink in a thermal cup.

    Nosy People

HIPAA only applies to covered entities - health plans or health providers that transmit data electronically. If a supervisor disclosed your health information it is not a HIPAA violation because employers generally are not subject to that law. i assume it is a violation of company policy and overall bad decision for a manager to disclose the information....but it is not illegal. You could ask your manager if the made the disclosure and report to HR for a policy violation. Or if your weight loss has been rapid, people may have made an assumption. Either way, try not to stress about it...
