Hey all-- My surgery date was 10/10, so I am more than three weeks post-op. I have been progressing very well, except that I am feeling completely drained. Not tired, but just lacking any energy. I know I have to "give it time" because I just had major surgery, but I stayed home doing nothing for three weeks healing up, and even though I wasn't doing much--zero energy. One thing I haven't seen is anyone talking about severe caloric restriction and its impact on how post-surgery patients feel. Like I said, doing great, lost 25 pounds so far, and expect (hope) to lose another fifty. But I am not taking in more than 500-600 calories a day. My NUT says that even when I am totally healed up the max will be 900-1000. That's a starvation diet, really. I mean, I don't feel starving at all, just...no energy! Anyone experience this and get over it in time, or as you ate more? I'm hopeful. You can call me "Low Energy Leslie"

Check your state legislature as newer laws may be in your favor, or you might be eligible to join a group w similar risks for a higher rate. Some companies have a time frame after any surgery for coverage, you might be denied but can appeal or reapply a year later. Good luck.

    PCP discouragement

I'm sure a lot of factors contribute and every doctor is different in education and experience. We had a conversation about it in our local support group because people were coming into the program and having issues with their PCPs in some form or another. They did find that the vast majority of the PCPs who attended the education seminar the bariatric program provided are working much better with the clinic now so my bet is they are willing

    Soft Foods Diet Ideas

Im on day 2 of purees and gained almost a pound. I am still not getting 500 calories a day in though I am only able to get down about 250 a day....but all pure protein. I just made some scrambled eggs and added cottage cheese and it is Awesome!! I also pureed some tuna with some light mayo and a little relish and had that for lunch and dinner and it was really good. I am going to do it again today and add some boiled egg to add the protein. I think I stopped losing and gained because my calorie count it too low so I am just focusing on whatever i can puree up that adds some good protein filled calories today and see what the results are. My life is revolving around eating and drinking........
